College and Pubic Hair

My DSister (16) has just started a beauty therapy course in college.

Yesterday she was told by a tutor that everyone is to grow their pubic hair (vagina) so they can practice waxing on each other and develop and understanding of how clients feel.

My DS and most of the other girls are horrified by this and don't want to do it. AIBU to be horrified at this demand? Surely the college can't enforce this on the girls?!

she won't last the course if she keeps refusing to have stuff done - BT students practice everything on each other!

Why would I be lying? It's what she's told me today when she came over.
I have two friends who have done beauty therapy and they didn't wax each other's fannies. Volunteers would come into the college for free treatments. That's who they practice on.

I did hairdressing at college and a lot of th girls on the beauty course there refused it. We had a salon in college and offered discounted rates for services. A lot of them gained experience from people booking in for actual appointments. Next to no girls would do it to "practice" personally I wouldn't either. Now way is anyone ripping my hairbrush out down there!

I'm getting my arms waxed next week. Of course I don't mean my actual arms it's just what I call my legs. I could understand a cutesy name for it although it is cringy for an adult but why refer to a body part by the name of another body part and then have a hissy fit when you are misunderstood?

How did she think they were going to practice? Obviously they can't enforce it but she won't get far in her course otherwise. If she won't take part, then she can't learn.

What don't people understand about DS not having a problem doing the waxing for other people? She just doesn't want her own fanny waxed! It's not something she's ever get done.

I'm far too stupid to be a doctor, but my friends who are did indeed have to practice on themselves.

They've do things like cannulating, catheterizing and taking blood from each other while medical students.

They aren't waxing each others fannies. They're waxing the bikini line. Meaning the groin. They haven't been asked to do a full brazilian. I think you could do with a course in anatomy, wtf do they teach in schools now?

I was under the impression that intimate waxing is only taught to students 18+. If this is genuine Hmm your DD was not paying attention when she applied for the course, as students have to practice on each other when they have learnt the theory.

IMO What kind of pubic hair anyone has, is fuck all to do with a tutor.

I watched a TV programme about a beauty college, a couple of years ago. The tutor asked for volunteers for the others to do waxing on, when no body stepped forward she just told one girl she had to do it. Shock. I'd have walked out!
I do actually think it verges on assault to force someone to do that.

I wouldn't want anyone waxing me, especially a load of people who had never done it before!

Most people would not be ok to have this done in a college, by someone who has never ever done it before.

Which is why they do it on eachother first. Chances are there will be loads of stuff she wouldnt usually have done.

Its not assault. Because she will have to consent.

Part of beauty therapy training is practicing on each other. It's fairly standard that they have that experience before they work on the public.

Some colleges allow trainees to bring in models to work on (because everyone needs to work on someone, and if some people aren't getting it done then they need more people). The responsibility is on the trainee to find a willing victim. She could ask her tutor if that would be ok, then you could volunteer op.

I did beauty therapy and we waxed each other all the time. This was before Brazilians and Hollywoods were the norm tho so we only did sides and top pants on.

Doubt they will be doing anything more intimate.

I can understand she doesn't want a wax herself.

But tbh, none of the other girls are going to offer to let her practice on them if she's not giving someone else the chance to practice also. Quid pro quo.

So if she won't take part, then she'll have to miss the waxing module, I guess.

Who did she think would be happy to have an untrained novice practice their first intimate wax on them? Volunteers from the course all in the same boat seems perfectly logical to me.

I thought it was standard that course participants practiced on themselves, then their family and friends before being let loose on the public.
