I remember Norris & Mary & also Samir Grin

HappenstanceMarmite · 07/09/2017 21:52

"That kidney was wasted on you Tracy!!!"

Whiterabbitears · 08/09/2017 00:19

Samir! I remember having a holiday romance during that era and really identifying with Deirdre back then, cringe!

BackieJerkhart · 08/09/2017 00:22

what happened to Samir? Was he killed by the fake air pilot(John?) Or was John later? "Free the Wetherfield one" poor Deirdre.

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 08/09/2017 00:34

Poor old Samir was attacked by a gang, the day before he was due to donate a kidney to TracyLuv. Think Jon Lindsay was a couple of years later.

Seren85 · 08/09/2017 00:35

Oh that scene at AA is comedy corrie st it's best. Blanche

Seren85 · 08/09/2017 00:35

Blanche was a legend ^^

BackieJerkhart · 08/09/2017 00:36

I really shouldn't be reading this on my commute! 🤣

ShatnersWig · 08/09/2017 08:33

Corrie always had ballsy strong women and battleaxes. Where are they now? I think they see Michelle as one but I can't abide her. They seem to keep bringing in a lot of good looking men and women in the younger contingent and waste the older actors (the ones that actually have proper acting chops).

It was very sad when Anne Kirkbride died because she and the writers were definitely turning Deirdre into her mother's daughter and she'd have been the next Blanche. When Eileen Derbyshire left the cobbles were left without its formidable moral compass in Emily although at least Roy is still around to fill a bit of that gap. Barbara Knox and Malcolm Hebden have been underused for years although I gather both Rita and Norris have actually have a storyline each at the moment.

HappenstanceMarmite · 08/09/2017 11:07

Fred Elliot was a legend too!

CorporalNobbyNobbs · 08/09/2017 11:55

I said Fred Elliott was a legend Grin

Whiterabbitears · 08/09/2017 13:38

Agree they're bringing in younger attractive actors who IMO can't act as well as the older ones of the past. They all seem a bit samey. Maybe Sally could be a battleaxe, she's still a bit young for that role though.

BackieJerkhart · 08/09/2017 13:40

I wish they'd kept Karen and the other one Steve married after her, kylie's sister? And kylie. I loved kylie.

Whiterabbitears · 08/09/2017 13:51

Becki! She was a great character and Kylie was good too, a good egg despite her hardness.

JustDanceAddict · 08/09/2017 13:52

I can't bear Pat!! Although the actor is great. I want him to be found out. He's a real Jekyll & Hyde though.?

BackieJerkhart · 08/09/2017 14:00

Yes becki!! Thank you. My head was telling me Kelly but I knew that wasn't right. She was fab. Steve is a bastard for how he treated her. He treats all his partners really badly.

Clawdy · 08/09/2017 14:06

Both actors who played Karen and Becky have gone on to have great acting careers, so I'm sure they're very thankful they left in time!

Floellabumbags · 08/09/2017 14:28

Samir! I remember having a holiday romance during that era and really identifying with Deirdre back then, cringe!

That's pure gold.

Whiterabbitears · 08/09/2017 14:37

Blush I can't believe I confessed that!! Grin

Whiterabbitears · 08/09/2017 14:39

Yep Steve is a total bastard, he tries to be funny and he's a mummy's boy.

BackieJerkhart · 08/09/2017 15:16

That's true clawdy!!

lidoshuffle · 08/09/2017 15:53

"This room smells like an anchovy's jockstrap"!
I remember roaring at that at the time, but had forgotten it.

I also remember Elsie Tanner (who'd been round the block a few times herself, so she'd know) chiding Bet Lynch over a one night stand with a very dodgy bloke because, "he's the type of man who'd shout "Get up them stairs" in a bungalow".

apostropheuse · 08/09/2017 16:10

Corrie has had many classics... do you remember Reg Holdsworth and the waterbed?
