Saw this on itv news. After my experience of two years ago 2 things jumped out at me.

a. that a local pet shop attended not the RSPCA just as in my case.
b. that they reckon the snake was a pet that had escaped but couldnt find the owner. The owner on my estate didnt own up that it was his until the last min and everybody else had done the donkey work. Im also in Essex but not Southend.

Soubriquet · 04/09/2017 20:49

Thank you. He wasn't supposed to be mine. Was supposed to be dh's and gf's but he just lashes out at them everytime they go to touch him where he happily lets me handle him.

Soubriquet · 04/09/2017 20:51

Soub just how many pets do you own?

A cat, a dog and now a snake.

Though waifs and strays find their way here to be rehabilitated and released again. Not technically pets but still.

Ankleswingers · 04/09/2017 20:52

I'm with elevenclips.

I would actually pass out.

I am utterly terrified of snakes.

I haven't even clicked on your link op- I will have nightmares. I'm not even joking.

Bluelonerose · 04/09/2017 20:52

I went to loo the other day sat down and felt what i thought was a moth on my are.
After freaking out and jumping round the bathroom for 30 seconds screaming my head off the culprit had been revealed.
I'de sat on a chair in my outhouse and the top is peeling off. Part of it had obviously stuck to my arse and I never noticed till I felt it flapping.
I did check the loo for a few days after. Just in case Wink

Mumof41987 · 04/09/2017 20:53

Mumof41987 · 04/09/2017 20:55

godconfusion · 04/09/2017 21:02

One of our snakes is a serial escaper but never found her in the toilet. She heads for the toybox for some unknown reson.

PippaPug · 04/09/2017 21:03

I live round that area - my worst nightmare 😭😭😭

Maudlinmaud · 04/09/2017 21:03

Awwww we have a visiting hedgehog, I hope you post pics when your pygmy arrives. Sorry for derail.

Mum2jenny · 04/09/2017 21:06

No issues with snakes however one of my neighbours needed confirmation that the snake in his garden was an adder. Poor cold snake (as it was early in the year), then he moved it around a mile away, little realising that it was likely to return.

LieInRequired · 04/09/2017 21:08

I peed on a tree frog once. This was not in th UK. The frogs liked the cool damp environment of the toilet and would often appear in the toilet. This time I forgot to check first. Not sure that the frog was too happy either.

WunWun · 04/09/2017 21:09

I can't help but wonder if they flushed it on purpose.

PollyFlint · 04/09/2017 21:10

I like snakes so I'd be thrilled to find one anywhere really. In fact I like all creatures except certain types of spider - weird that it's only certain types, but the types I'm frightened of, I'm REALLY frightened of.

HelenaDove · 04/09/2017 21:15

godconfusion there seems to be an unwritten rule that reptile owners dont have to be as responsible as other pet owners.

Imagine if a dog like a pit bull etc (not all pit bulls before anyone starts) there would be comments on the news like...........OMG what if dog had attacked or mauled the 5 year old. The owner would have been in the shit.

Its too easy for irresponsible reptile owners (NAROALT) to just keep schtum when their pets escape Not explaining myself very well but i dont see why rules should be different for them than any other pet owner.

godconfusion · 04/09/2017 21:24

@HelenaDove I'm with you. Irresponsible owners. Lots of people have irrational fears of snakes and spiders. People who choose to own them should really be extra careful they can't escape

OP posts:
Mum2jenny · 04/09/2017 21:30

Most people with snakes do not want them to escape as they are much loved pets.

Boatmistress17 · 04/09/2017 21:34

Our snake escaped a new tank. I had to tell the b+b owner next door!! Found her under a bean bag fast asleep!!

Soubriquet · 04/09/2017 21:43

Yes I wouldn't want my snake to escape!

Most owners wouldn't. If it gets too cold, the snake could die. Why would an owner want to risk it?

Sometimes escapes happen but they are rare and pure accident.

Boatmistress17 · 04/09/2017 21:46

Our new tank had removable corner clips that weren't visible until our snake popped them up!! And made her escape!! Top all taped down now!!
