Exclusive: Rice told House investigators why she unmasked senior Trump officials

amp.cnn.com/cnn/2017/09/13/politics/susan-rice-house-investigators-unmasked-trump-officials/index.html

(CNN) Former national security adviser Susan Rice privately told House investigators that she unmasked the identities of senior Trump officials to understand why the crown prince of the United Arab Emirates was in New York late last year, multiple sources told CNN.

The New York meeting preceded a separate effort by the UAE to facilitate a back-channel communication between Russia and the incoming Trump White House.

The crown prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, arrived in New York last December in the transition period before Trump was sworn into office for a meeting with several top Trump officials, including Michael Flynn, the president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and his top strategist Steve Bannon, sources said.

Condi must have been very bemused as to why they kept needling away at the unmasking.

They essentially unmasked their own unmasking

I don't suppose she'll get an apology.

List is not exhaustive. Smile

Let's face it - lawyers fees can really eat intoyour savings. As a "billionaire" with past liquidity problems, perhaps he's got cashflow problems. Wink

cozietoesie · 14/09/2017 00:12

I wonder whether tales of .......other cheques will be forthcoming? I hope someone keeps tabs on the total. Smile

SanFranBear · 14/09/2017 00:13

Ah... ok. He's split a large chunk between two main charities with a further 10 benefitting:

www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/news/post-politics/wp/2017/09/06/trump-announces-recipients-for-his-1-million-donation-for-hurricane-harvey-relief/

The article calls them pledges which obviously means he hadn't donated at the time of going to press but this was dated the 6th Sep so I would expect he's now paid.

It's a sign of my utter dislike of the man though that this still doesn't seem enough (considering his alleged $3.5bn fortune)... But I guess if you're doing your day job unpaid, you've got to watch your savings Hmm

I'm quite open to admitting that in my eyes, he can't really do any right and am aware my judgement is utterly clouded. I keep hoping he'll do something I actually agree with... struggling right now to think of anything though

cozietoesie · 14/09/2017 00:20

Good. I hope that the donations are actually made. Smile

The Obama-Trump bull market

Trump Administration Launches Broad New Anti-Leak Program

National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster’s memo directs top officials to warn staff against leaking information in a government-wide training program. We got the memo.

[I appreciate that any administration is not a fan of leaks so I started reading this thinking that this was probably going to be ok but]

The request includes “[s]uggested training materials” — provided by the National Counterintelligence and Security Center — that include the 15-minute C-SPAN video of Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ August news conference about leaks and a six-minute Fox News video of an interview with the National Counterintelligence and Security Center’s director, William Evanina.

And

The memo, dated Sept. 8, signals a potentially dramatic expansion of the previous administration’s war on leaks. The Obama administration moves focused on alleged national security leaks and “insider threats” — an effort centered around the intelligence agencies under an October 2011 executive order from President Obama. Those investigations — and in some cases, prosecutions — were widely criticized, particularly in the media.

McMaster’s memo is directed to a much larger group, including virtually every senior official in the federal government — from the vice president and cabinet heads to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to the director of the Peace Corps. Perhaps more importantly, the memo asserts that “unauthorized disclosure” of both classified and “controlled unclassified” information “causes harm to our Nation and shakes the confidence of the American people.”
