To say Capri sun is not a adult drink?

So my lovely dad was going to the shops earlier and asked if I wanted anything. I said a non alcoholic drink of some kind (had a bit too much alcohol over the weekend). Couldn't think what I meant and he was rushing, but I said not a fresh juice but I had something at there's before that was a raspberry/summer fruits sparking drink, something like that.

Went to get a drink a bit ago and asked him if he'd got anything. He proudly hands me a box of summer fruits Capri suns.

I said why have you got them, they're kids drinks. He's adamant that they're not, lots of adults apparently drink them. They have a straw!!
I'm not unreasonable to say they're kids drinks am I?

He's actually sat drinking one now to prove me wrong 😂

Well he's drinking a tropical one now. I hope he's up all night from a sugar high!

Enjoy your Capri suns everyone.

To give him credit he got the snacks and chocolate right, despite me saying not to get me anything.

Urrgh Capri Sun, yuk. I didn't even like them when I was a child, never mind now. They do seem to be a 'children's' drink though, and I've never seen an adult drink one.

scrabbler3 · 03/09/2017 23:06

Haven't had one for years.

Monster Munch, though.....

missmollyhadadolly · 03/09/2017 23:09

Ocean Spray Cranberry juice little cartons have straws. They're deffo not for kids.

missmollyhadadolly · 03/09/2017 23:10

Emboo Senior sounds like a top man.

CatsPurr · 03/09/2017 23:11

I am 40 and like them lots, really refreshing. My Dad like them, he is 72. They are also our go to drink for my diabetic boy to bring him out of a hypo. Yes, they are the same sugar as a Coca Cola but in my family sugar is our friend and since they sucked it all out of Lucozade some of us need sugary drinks.

I was really pleased to find boxes of 20 in Morrisons Grin

InvisibleCities · 03/09/2017 23:11

They go mouldy. No-one should drink them Sad

CatsPurr · 03/09/2017 23:14

I have been drinking them for years and years, never had a mouldy one ever.

Emboo19 · 03/09/2017 23:15

Lol! At emboo senior, he'd be mortified missmolly he tends to try passing himself off as my older brother. Probs why he's drinking Capri sun, wants to be down with the kids.

I'd be more suspicious of something that doesn't go mouldy...

Flypaperforarseholes · 03/09/2017 23:18

Ice cold - with two paracetamol and two ibuprofen - they are the world's best hangover cure.

The best Capri Sun is a frozen one. I remember the lemon and lime ones you could get in the 80s, now sadly discontinued. Plus the cherry ones that I scout European shops for, and then bring back to this country.
Freeze them, hit them with a rolling pin, and you get a lovely slush.

gluteustothemaximus · 03/09/2017 23:30

We always go to home bargains to get our box of Capri suns. Tesco only do the sweetener version. We take them out and whenever in need of a drink DH and I both drink them.

Blackcurrent one is good. Almost Ribena and cheaper.

Lweji · 03/09/2017 23:42

I didn't know drinks had ages.

PodgeBod · 03/09/2017 23:57

I love orange Capri sun but it seems to go so quickly! Why don't they put it in big cartons like ribena? I would buy that.
Fruit shoots on the other hand are vile. Whenever I've been desperate and had a bit of DD's I've regretted it. When I was a kid Sunny D was the Queen of the sugary orange juices. I never see that around now.

FeelingAggrieved · 04/09/2017 00:09

YABU and snobby

Emboo19 · 04/09/2017 07:09

I may have to try them frozen or add some alcohol, seen as we've got two boxes of them.

Hmm, I think alchold does Lweji

No not snobby FeelingAggrieved as I said it was lighthearted. I thought it was funny, I asked for an alternative to wine for dinner (although I ended up with wine anyway) and he bought Capri suns.

Despite mumsnet's love of them. I'm arrived they will always be the cheap kids drink you get with a sandwich box meal, at theme parks and the like to me.

Not only do I think Capri Suns are no drink for an adult, I think anything in a little carton with a straw is no drink for an adult. They look utterly ridiculous.

Emboo19 · 04/09/2017 07:27

Exactly Bert he did look ridiculous drinking it!

And I meant afraid not arrived! Should really look at what I actually type and what my phone decides to put.

Google Capri sun worm.

RedBlackberries · 04/09/2017 07:32

YANBU if I wanted a nice grown up alternative to alcohol I'd want a San pelligrino limoncello. Not something from my kids pack lunch box.

I'll happily have one as a drink anytime but it sounds like you wanted a grown up drink because you weren't drinking.

NicolasFlamel · 04/09/2017 07:48

Bananas also go mouldy. You've been warned.

Lweji · 04/09/2017 08:16

Hmm, I think alchold does Lweji

There you have your answer. Wink

Emboo19 · 04/09/2017 09:37

Ha, that's what I'm going to try Lweji not on a Monday morning though I'll wait until at least lunch time.
