to put egg in potato salad.

I am making a potato salad for a bbq tomorrow. Using jazzy new potatos, Mayonnaise, little bit of Dijon mustard, spring onions, dill and chives ontop (more for garnish really)

AIBU to bash up a few boiled eggs and throw them in aswell i think it would be yum!

My father puts eggs and radishes in his green salad and the yolk emulsifies with the olive oil and the vinegar.

It's lovely.

If you like cold boiled egg it may be lovely but if you don't and you are not expecting it then a lifetime of £££ therapy is the result.

well i have made my decision.......am going for it am going to risk it... noone in our family has egg allergys and were all pretty big foodies so think it will be ok now am am debating weather to leave the dill out i have never used it before?

My mum's one was always potato, celery, apple and mayo - but I think the egg and gherkin sounds super duper!

I'm from Canada and I'm not sure I ever encountered eggless potato salad until I moved to England. Eggs all the way.

Dill goes on warm potatos, parsley on cold.

You can put eggs in but it is then no longer a potato salad. Potato and egg salad sounds less interesting.

When I was growing up, potato salad was mashed potato, with egg mashed into it and mayonnaise (sometimes chopped spring onions too). I didn't know there was any other kind until I was much older! Lovely on white bread rolls with load sod butter.

Make sure you label it as such! Cold egg mayo is totally rank but i love potato salad. At least give fair warning.

I was at a BBQ last night where the hostess served up potato salad with mayonnaise, salad cream, chopped boiled eggs and bacon. It was amazing and disappeared faster than anything else. So YANBU.

This thread is so distressing. I don't mind eggs but unexpected eggs are just upsetting and I would not expect an egg in a potato salad. I agree with the PP also about egg in fish pie, what's that all about?!
