I am making a potato salad for a bbq tomorrow. Using jazzy new potatos, Mayonnaise, little bit of Dijon mustard, spring onions, dill and chives ontop (more for garnish really)

AIBU to bash up a few boiled eggs and throw them in aswell i think it would be yum!

Rui information a good potato salad is exactly it - avoid the issue, nobody will miss the eggs ... They don't usually belong in potato salad...

Floellabumbags · 01/09/2017 23:28

You're perverted! Slimy eggs in a potato salad?

You'll be suggesting pineapple coleslaw next.

Crispbutty · 01/09/2017 23:28

Russian salad is lovely

Egg
Potato
Mixed veg (carrot peas)
Tuna
Mayo

ticketytock1 · 01/09/2017 23:30

Oh please I promise you it is fucking amazing.
I will go so far as to say I'll make you some and courier it to you... my dad gave me the recipe, he learned it when working as a chef in hotels in jersey. Any family party we have he is required to make a tonne of it, and it's always devoured. If for any reason he hasn't made it, people throw strops lol!

Crispbutty · 01/09/2017 23:32

I first had it in Lanzarote at a tapas bar and have been making it at home ever since

Mollypolly2610 · 01/09/2017 23:36

Always put hard boiled eggs in potato salad! Made one for a neighbors bbq last week and she kept the leftovers for her next day lunch she said she loved it so much!

ShotsFired · 01/09/2017 23:45

Someone made me potato salad with sweetcorn in recently.

Given I love both things, I was surprised how much I didn't care for them together.

ShrinkWrap · 01/09/2017 23:52

Needs to be soft boiled quails eggs. That is all. X

TalkinBoutNuthin · 02/09/2017 00:10

It's quite a continental European thing isn't it?

My Russian relatives make a lovely potato salad with eggs in it. Some German friends add bacon as well as the eggs.

I'm quite partial to the egg, but am rarely organised enough to make it that way!

lozzylizzy · 02/09/2017 00:13

Don't dare waste those perfectly good eggs! Potato salad looks like the ingredients regurgitated!

Laniakea · 02/09/2017 00:16

god no Shock

cornichon yes though

RhiWrites · 02/09/2017 00:20

I would eat all these potato salads except the one with bacon (vegetarian here). I want to try eggs, gherkins and mustard in mine.

Badcat666 · 02/09/2017 01:06

I only discovered the taste delights of egg in potato salad when MrBC mum made us some of her "special potato salad". Holy hell my tastebuds went to heaven!

Now I have to do it her way. All other potato salads now taste sad and hollow without the addition of eggs.

Crap... Now I want some eggy potato salad sexiness.....

Bad cat let's hook up

Aquamarine1029 · 02/09/2017 02:35

Hard boiled eggs in potato salad is delicious. I've always done this.

GriswaldFamilyVacation · 02/09/2017 03:47

the real traditional English potato salad was with salad cream only - added to hot potatoes with chopped spring onions.

Salad cream is like the British condiment version of cold spunk. There's just literally no excuse.

WickedWrites · 02/09/2017 04:01

Eggs aren't usually in Potato Salad. Could you do 2 varieties so people with allergies don't get a nasty surprise and egg haters don't dry heave?

Resurgam2016 · 02/09/2017 06:40

This is a true story:

One day after a gentle stroll in my local park I went to the park cafe for lunch. It all looked delicious but I plumped for a particularly appealing slab of vegetable lasagne.

When it was brought to the table the cheese was gently bubbling on the top and there was a tempting red sauce oozing from between the multicoloured layers of pasta. A delicious smell wafted up from the plate. It was safe to say that I was looking forward to this more than any food I'd had in a while.

I lifted a forkful upwards, blew on it and bit. As I greedily swallowed I got a sense that something was wrong.

I choked a little and looked down at my plate. I glimpsed chopped boiled egg white. Choking more I stood up and stumbled out of the cafe into the sunlight. The world felt different. It was different. I could never un eat that hidden boiled egg again.

I have never returned to the scene of the crime and been unable to eat vegetable lasagne since that day.

Moral of the story: Do not hide boiled egg in anything thats not meant to have it. It's not worth the trauma you could inadvertently cause.

I rest my case Smile

That is terrible Resurgam! That would give me the boak. Sneaky concealment of egg in otheewise nice foods should be a criminal offence.

Resurgam2016 · 02/09/2017 06:58

Yes. That and not clearing up after you dog should be punished by hanging. Not commutable and no time off for good behaviour.

Resurgam2016 · 02/09/2017 06:58

your - pesky auto correct thingumy

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 02/09/2017 06:59

You need potatoes.
One very finely sliced red onion, marinated in salt and vinegar for as long as the potatoes cook, then slice the hot peeled potatoes, dress with olive oil. Let cool.
Add tons of chopped parsley at the very end.

youarenotkiddingme · 02/09/2017 07:07

Not at all!

Theresa great dish called ensaladia you get in Spanish tapas bars (Russian salad)

It's mashed potato and tuna and onion and egg and they add peas /carrots etc.

I make it for ds (our own version!)

It's potato with vinegar and salt, tuna, red onion, red pepper and egg and mixed up with mayo!

It's fantastic with meat!

Resurgam2016 · 02/09/2017 07:14

If you do do it please don't call it potato salad. Call it egg & potato salad.

But I beg you to think long and hard about the long term ramifications of your actions.

huha · 02/09/2017 07:17

I only make potato salad with boiled eggs in.

YANBU.
