To think that really pyjamas should be washed after every wear?

Not that I do it!
But they are worn next to the skin for 8 hours and I'd wash anything else worn like that..

What do you think?

I don't often wear pj's but I do wear a nursing bra at night (cosleep with ds who is a bit of a boob monster still at nearly 2yo). Bra and when worn, pj's go in the wash next day. I do my laundry every day.

PortiaCastis · 31/08/2017 22:34

I just don't wear the bleddy awful things and just wear knickers but don't even bother with them if I'm on a promise.

SunnySkiesSleepsintheMorning · 31/08/2017 22:34

I love these threads. Grin
Ideally I'd wash them daily as I love clean PJs but ain't nobody got time for that. Ours are washed every other night which I still think is quite often.

SuburbanRhonda · 31/08/2017 22:38

I walk or get the bus or train. I used to have a car though Smile.

I'm only joking - sitting here typing on my iPhone I can't claim to have anything like the low-impact lifestyle I'd like to have.

GladAllOver · 31/08/2017 22:39

I don't wear anything in bed except a nice clean skin fresh from the shower :)

mommybunny · 31/08/2017 22:40

A PP mentioned she (?) couldn't imagine wearing the same clothes a second day. I'm American and was brought up that way. I was shocked when I went on a study abroad semester in Germany while I was at University and there were lots of "Europeans" (usually Italians) wearing THE SAME CLOTHES two, (gasp) three days in a row! And the clothes weren't crawling off them! Mind you, the clothes were always fabulous quality and the girls wearing them always looked so confident and polished. It changed forever my view on recycling outfits.

And now I could not imagine changing my pajamas every single night. Ain't enough time in the world to be folding them and putting them in a drawer, let alone ironing them (as if indeed!). They go under my pillow till my sheets get washed, when they get thrown in with them. Life is just too short to worry about such unimportant crap.

BlueberryPuffin · 31/08/2017 22:40

This really does my head in......who the hell says what most people wear. What you mean is that you wear something and you therefore assume that's the norm

Not really. Some things are socially commonplace and therefore we can say "most people" do them without needing empirical evidence for the fact.

Like, I can say "most people wear underwear during the day". This doesn't mean only I do and erroneously assume it's the norm. I don't have statistics to back up this claim but I'm 99.9% sure it's true.

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 31/08/2017 22:40

I wear pants/boxers and T- Shirt.

I didn't used to change the T- Shirt every day but am menopausal. I'm almost through it now after 15 months of no periods, but still getting the hot flushes / night sweats which believe me - are a complete whole body experience Blush

They are getting better now, but the dog can sense them coming and gets up and moves (gently fanning herself). So now, I do change every day - light shorts and Tshirt.

BlueberryPuffin · 31/08/2017 22:40

Sleeping naked is not unusual but you only have to read the responses to this thread to see that MOST people do wear something to bed.

Happydoingitjusttheonce · 31/08/2017 22:43

Hidingbehindthewallpaper. Lighten up. That 9yo is just switched on. Nowt wrong in that household

formerbabe · 31/08/2017 22:46

I wash everything after one wear including pajamas. I also wash towels after one use. I'm a complete fool and a martyr to the laundry!

PickAChew · 31/08/2017 22:59

I wear mine with pants. Fine for 2 or 3 nights, unless I have a hot flush or dodgy fart

elevenclips · 31/08/2017 23:12

Nothing in a pyjama top will hurt you, you could easily wear for a week. however, I think that if you wear PJ bottoms against a bare arse then you should definitely not put them back on the next day. That's like putting dirty knickers on. Manky arse germs that have been sitting around all day. I wear pants under mine, then I can wear the PJs several times with no washing .

BillywigSting · 31/08/2017 23:17

I wash my pyjamas after every wear because I sweat buckets at night, so much so they are damp in the morning.

Even on nights when that doesn't happen, even if they seem to smell after I've taken them off in the morning, in the evening they stink. I'm not wearing smelly pyjamas. I don't wear them in summer because i get far too hot. (I wear just knickers and sports bra, also washed after every wear)

LondonNicki · 31/08/2017 23:21

If i won the lottery I would arrange to have someone to change my bed linen every night - that to me would be absolute luxury! In the meantime i settle for once a week and wash my pjs around every 3 days (can get a bit sweaty of the nights are warm)

ChickenVindaloo2 · 31/08/2017 23:26

I get up on the hour, every hour during the night to wash, dry and iron my pajamas. The rest of you are dirty slatterns and should be ashamed! Grin

sweetbitter · 31/08/2017 23:30

YABU. Reading about all the laundry and washing and cleaning done people on here feel obliged to do so as not to be disgusting to themselves makes me feel a bit sad.

Tippexy · 31/08/2017 23:31

Why on earth would you not wear knickers under your pyjamas?!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 31/08/2017 23:34

Why would you?

BlueberryPuffin · 31/08/2017 23:36

Manky arse germs that have been sitting around all day

Unless you shower in the evening, of course.

Wdigin2this · 31/08/2017 23:38

I shower before going to bed each night, and I just have to put cleam jammies, but I have loads of them, so only was them all once or twice a week!

Aeroflotgirl · 31/08/2017 23:39

No way, got enough washing as it is thanks

Bobbins43 · 31/08/2017 23:46

How many pairs of pyjamas do people own?!

blameitonthebipolar · 31/08/2017 23:46

Sorry but I can't get past the fact that a pp washes their towel every 4-6 weeks, that's manky!

What is the point of having a bath or shower then getting dried with a month old towel?

Guess what- I have show towels that even my 6 year old dd knows not to touch, I have OCD admittedly so I know I can be a bit extreme.

The weirdest thing I do that is laundry related is to fold the washing ( absolutely everything) before it goes in the washing basket. Cannot stand seeing things just thrown in. It makes no sense but I have to do it.

HidingBehindTheWallpaper · 31/08/2017 23:47

Why on earth would you not wear knickers under your pyjamas?!

Why would you? Are you protecting your pyjamas from your bits or your bits from pyjamas?

Anyway. I hover a inch above the bed all night and never touch anything or fart or have sex or anything like that. In the morning I burn all the bed linen and pillows then buy more.
