Some one please tell me I'm not insane!! As the title says I actually lost my close friend over my period last weekend!!
Last weekend I met with my friend who i have known 19 years! In weathersspoons.
I was wearing beige trousers and it was coming up to 10pm and getting very busy as it's on a bar stretch pubs everywhere.
And to my absolute horror i leaked all over myself! I was not due until four days later so didn't expect this at all and no bodily warning signs no cramping, any way we see sat down at this time in one of the booths, my friend was wearing a red dress with a jacket AND bought her coat.
I quickly told friend I just leaked and my crotch was now bright red ( the shame ) and could I please use her jacket to just tie around my waist casually just to get home to change/ wash
She said NO!
I said please, il wash it if anything gets on it and give it right back the next day! I was pretty much begging her !
She refused and said no she paid to much money for it and didn't want it ruined!
I was so bloody upset I got up said " cheers mate" drank my drink and left!
Humiliation as I walked out the busy place with red all in between my legs ( don't know if anyone noticed) it's was ALOT of blood :(
I understand she didn't want to get blood on it but I just wanted it to cover my bum to quickly run out, I live down the road!! I would of washed etc and come back, I'm really upset ild never let her or anyone of my friends feel the way I did that night. I texted her two days ago but have no reply. What the hell is her problem! Was I unreasonable to ask to quickly use her jacket ?

19 years 🙁 Is this really the first time she's been so horrible? That just seems weird. A black jacket from M&S fgs, that's ridiculously precious. However, even if had been a jacket that would have been ruined, there were a load of other things she could have done to get you out of there without any embarrassment.

Life's a bit short though. If this is the first time she's acted like a prize twat, it may just be worth talking to her to see what the fuck is going on?

However, it's really not worth still feeling embarrassed. Any actual adult seeing you & thinking anything other than 'poor woman' isn't worth a second thought.

YANBU. And the chances of getting blood on clothing tied round your waist are slim if you're not sitting down. It's a shame that she couldn't be kind. Oh well, if you're not dropping her then I guess you could demote her to the category of superficial friend/acquaintance from whom you know to expect nothing and also, in return, give nothing.

she's no friend, she didnt help you in your hour of need. She lied about the situation to your mutual friend. She ignored your messages. Forget her. Life is to short to waste it over fake friends!!

Why are you apologising and jumping on her dick.
She's the one in the wrong, not you.
A real friend would have left the pub with you and Then she wouldn't have been left on her own.

Shes no friend. YANBU to ask for her jacket. YABU to text her. I wouldn't give her the satisfaction

Dont apologise to her. You had an expected leak and had to rush home. It happens and a good friend would have atleast stood right behind you to spare your dignity.

YANBU. If you live so close she could have at least offered to run home and get your coat!!

Oh wow OP. Poor you. You haven't lost a friend though as no real friends would have ever done this. As a complete stranger I would have handed over my jacket to any woman in this situation. Please don't speak to her ever again.

You're not insane at all op but you are a little mad to have text this non friend after she displayed such callousness to you in the pub.

What a bitch! Bin her off.

Oh darling, you have my sympathy... poor thing! I know for certain that a real friend wouldn't have waited until you asked for the jacket. A real friend would definitely not have refused to help, and a real friend would not be going around spreading rumors about you to cover up how badly she behaved. She...is...not...nice.

You must be hurt and disappointed if this is the first time you have seen this friend behave in such a way.
She is no friend though, as others have pointed out I would also do this for a stranger.

OP, your friend is a terrible human being. I'm so sorry - I can imagine how awful that must've felt.

You need to raise your standards if she's your best friend.

You've not lost anything, just seen a so called friend for what she is - a mean spirited self serving cow. Bin her off and go and find some better friends.

You poor poor thing.

It would be basic human kindness to help you out in that situation.

She sounds selfish and unkind.

What's the old saying? "With friends like that....."

Another one here who would have also passed my jacket to a stranger in this situation! She is no friend! YADNBU

Get rid of her.

Wow. My only surprise is that this is the first time she's ever shown signs of being such a selfish twat - are you sure that's the case?

No YANBU, it's very rude of her to have not just lent you her coat. It's not like you wanted to wodge it in between your legs, is it - you only wanted to hide the red by tying it round your waist! It probably wouldn't have even got anything on it.

Sorry she's turned out to be such a twat but at least you know now and can stop wasting time on her.

Completely agree with pp

You wouldn't have been had to ask an actual friend.

Friends would just do it. I'd have had a tampon out my bag for you and coat around your waist before you could say "call me a cab"

That's just what friends do.

This was my life until recently. Unexpected floods due to bleeding. Any of my friends would help me when it happened and had me in tears.

I would give someone my cardigan or whatever too.

If she didn't want to lend you her jacket she could have offered to run back to your house (since you said you only lived down the road) and get a jacket of yours to cover yourself with.

She was being very cruel to make you walk out of there like you did I would definitely no longer consider her a friend after that.

WeAreEternal · 26/08/2017 12:58

It also sounds like she is trying to 'get in there first' with mutual friends to make you sound like you were the unreasonable one.

Bluntness100 · 26/08/2017 12:59

Very unusual to refuse. I think nearly all women would have helped put in that situation. Do you have previous for borrowing stuff off her and not giving back? I'm trying to think of a possible explanation for her behaviour.
