What did it say?

cozietoesie · 03/09/2017 23:30

No. I didn't see it. Are you very awake right now?

CupFullOfSpiders · 03/09/2017 23:31

Sorry, that was a bit of a "pm me Hun xx" message wasn't it. I was trying to multitask Grin
Ok, about 5/10 minutes ago I switched over to BBC news channel. Breaking news banner flashed up in BBC news - SK military have taken action against NK. Nothing more was said, they went to sports, it disappeared from the breaking news banner, now it's on no websites anywhere. Tried to rewind news to check and it won't rewind any further than to the point just after the announcement. Hmm! I also kind of didn't want to write it here inc are I was accidentally spreading military intelligence Blush

CupFullOfSpiders · 03/09/2017 23:33

Very awake cosie DH also saw it as we have family in Japan so we both went "oooooh shit!"
Maybe someone feeding info to the BBC is a bit of a fantasist? Hopefully that's the case.

AcrossthePond55 · 03/09/2017 23:34

TBH, I do think Scrotus may have had a bit of a 'come to Jesus' moment over NK. This recent development may have shaken his mis-placed bravado just a bit. Scrotus has been waving his gun willy around under the belief that KJU doesn't have a gun, too. But this recent test shows that KJU, apparently, does indeed have one.

CupFullOfSpiders · 03/09/2017 23:40

Ok. The only link I can find anywhere is in the Daily Star so I think we can safely say it's a pile of crap. Hopefully incorrect news
Sodding BBC, thanks for the heart attack with your uncorroborated sources Angry

AcrossthePond55 · 03/09/2017 23:41

CupFull the only thing I've seen on CNN is Mattis saying that there will be a 'massive response' if NK threatens US or its allies.

Maybe the BBC had it worded awkwardly at first and made it sound as if action had been taken instead of threatened and then corrected it?

badbadhusky · 03/09/2017 23:42

We're getting close to topping out this thread. My battery is dying anyone else up for cuing up the new thread.

Across That must be it. I've just this minute seen another update where the newsreader said that SK has carried out exercises simulating attacks on NK's nuclear testing sites. So someone somewhere had missed out the "simulating" part, the BBC picked it up from an unofficial source and ran it as breaking news. They worded it pretty much exactly as the Daily Star article I linked above. And even they can't decide in their wording if it's 'live' or 'simulated' Hmm Hence it vanishing when bbc realised it was wrong. Panic over, nothing to see here Wink

Now go to bed. Smile

Still trying to shore up the base. Sad

AcrossthePond55 · 04/09/2017 03:14

CupFull I saw similar on another news site. The article was confusing because it talked about 'games', 'live fire', 'simulated targets', and 'firing at' the NK test area.

These days with the state of things, news outlets (especially major ones like BBC, CNN etc need to be very, very careful and read things over twice!

TheClaws · 04/09/2017 04:32

This seems legit. Per BBC:

'South Korea has conducted a missile drill simulating an attack on the North Korean nuclear test site, in response to Pyongyang's sixth nuclear test.
'The live-fire exercise saw ballistic missiles launched from fighter jets and the ground.'

TheClaws · 04/09/2017 04:34

This was just a few minutes ago, after most of the day just having an image of Mattis looking serious.

I will be meeting General Kelly, General Mattis and other military leaders at the White House to discuss North Korea. Thank you.

I bet the Generals ready that and think 'oh shit, don't tell me he's coming in on this meeting, he won't have a clue what we're talking about'.

Does anyone know more on this the ending of the 'Dreamer'/DACA program in 6 months time. Twitter is alight with condemnation. Does anyone know if it has to be voted on before it can be ceased?

Sanders was asked continually about it at a presser, and kept saying he would announce it on Tuesday. I don't know much about it, except I read that there will be people who have lived and worked here 20 years plus deported.

TheClaws · 04/09/2017 08:21

Breaking.... South Korea are warning they are detecting NK are prepping for further missile launches, this time perhaps pointed towards the Pacific.

If no-one minds, and given the turn of events from the start of this thread, I might start the new one before tonight kicks off.

Fekko · 04/09/2017 08:30

Might be wasting your time...

In case nuclear war doesn't happen just yet:

We’re addicted to debt and headed for a crash. It could be worse than 2007

This is about the UK, but I'm sure it can apply to other countries. The US?

This week's new chart, Pop Pickers...
...and the USA has 6 new entries, making it Top of the Pops!

badbadhusky · 04/09/2017 09:12

I am disappointed to see that 'ignorant leaders' only makes #5 in that last @ 6% because they definitely contribute to #1 and #2. Also, AI is only 4%, which seems way too low to anyone who cut their sci-fi teeth on Terminator (Skynet Shock)...
