I read that comment by Ann Coulter that someone posted the other day in which she expressed disappointment in Trump for not being nearly horrible enough. Not only were her views distasteful but they were all over the place, frequently contradictory and irrational. Mind you, she could be right about God's punishment. After all, we all know that climates never change. Ever. And it is incontrovertible proof of divine intervention that the only people swept away or otherwise inconvenienced by Hurricane Harvey were blacks, liberals and lesbians. God is kind of clever that way.

I think the Generals on Trump's staff understand very well the horrible results of war. They're experienced military men and they've either 'been there, done that' first hand and/or they've been thoroughly educated in the 'real life' effects of war on civilians and military personnel. They aren't going to be all that anxious to get us in any type of avoidable military action, let alone a nuclear one.

I don't know if they didn't realize how crazy he actually was when they signed on or if they thought they'd be able to control, mitigate, or influence his actions. Either way, I think they're realizing it now and that's why we're seeing this 'shift' in their attitudes and words. I hate to sound alarmist, but if Scrotus keeps escalating I wouldn't be surprised to see a military 'mutiny' in the top brass. Not a full scale coup d'etat, more of a message to the Cabinet and Congress of 'you better get that idiot out of there else!'.

Kelly and McMaster I sort of understand. Mattis, I don't. I can't predict his actions entirely.

I like how the commenters under that Hill article say that CNN reporters were helping the rescue effort in Houston and pulling people out of their flooded homes, unlike Trump.

I saw also that Fox and MSNBC devoted more than half their screens to flood rescue etc images.
