Did this on a course today. I am ISFJ and I was totally freaked out by the profile. It isn't sort of like me. It IS me. It's like somebody sat on my shoulder for a year and then described me. Anybody else had this?

Infp - we are rare!

itsonlysubterfuge · 24/08/2017 09:02

INFJ - T

The idea of Hell for my personality type is really my idea of Heaven. The idea of having to complete a project that I have been given no guidance for, is great IMHO. It simply means that I have to research all the most up-to-date facts and stick them all in.

The project could end with:

"All details in this project are up to date and will be changed when, and as soon as, any new facts come to light"

user1955 · 24/08/2017 09:36

I've come out as a ISFJ-T

But what does the last letter (T) mean?

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 24/08/2017 09:39

I don't know how to answer many of the questions, I find them too ambiguous & like another poster said, I wear many hats. My reaction in one situation might be entirely different in another situation, so which do I answer for?

Think I'm a bit like those 'What am I?' riddles 😖😂

INFP · 24/08/2017 11:20

De-lurking

Leavingonajet · 24/08/2017 11:38

INTJ, I was assessed a few years ago by DH's work, he is pretty much the polar opposite I seem to remember but we work together well. It does seem a pretty accurate summary of how I run my life. I don't know if I would find another profile just a believable though?

CancellyMcChequeface · 24/08/2017 11:44

Yet another INFJ. I definitely think we gravitate to internet forums!

Doobigetta · 24/08/2017 12:11

I wonder if INFJs are drawn to Myers Briggs because it's one place where we are made out to be mysterious and interesting rather than weird and anti-social? Might explain why so many of us strongly identify with our label and happily trot it out on these threads.

Yes, I think there's a lot in that. The first time I did the "Big 5" test, the profile it gave me was horrible- really emphasised that I'm "disagreeable" and "neurotic". Mind you, every time I've done the Big 5 test I've come out with a different result, whereas I get the same on the MBTI every time.
I've noticed about other people's reaction as well that they are very type-dependent. My partner is INTJ, and he grudgingly admits that it's reasonably accurate, but hates being "pigeonholed". Every "S" type I know has got bored of the whole conversation before I've finished my first sentence Smile

INFP · 24/08/2017 12:23

The email sent in error was unfortunate. But it's done now and Rebecca and Justine have apologised for it.

But that is clearly not good enough for some folk who seem to be baying for blood.

INFP · 24/08/2017 12:24

Oops, wrong thread!

gruffalo13 · 24/08/2017 12:24

ISTJ in every test I've ever done over the years.

Arealhumanbeing · 24/08/2017 12:37

INFJ.

Did the test recently and it explains so much.

It isn't bollocks to me!

dolcezza99 · 24/08/2017 12:40

Honestly can't understand why anyone falls for this nonsense.

LinoleumBlownapart · 24/08/2017 12:45

I always think these tests are like star signs. If you read yours it sounds like you, if you read the others, it sounds like you too. It's the psychology of suggestion.

echt · 24/08/2017 12:48

There you go:

www.bbc.com/news/blogs-echochambers-28315137

Arealhumanbeing · 24/08/2017 12:54

None of the others sound like me.

I understand people thinking it's nonsense. It may be but it has helped me to accept myself as I am and I'm more confident and have a happier life as a result.

skyzumarubble · 24/08/2017 12:56

I can't remember now it's a long time ago since I did but it was fairly accurate.

Arealhumanbeing · 24/08/2017 13:08

Just read your link echt.

I agree it shouldn't be used as an absolute indicator of a person's capabilities and who they are.

According to my results I am absolutely not suited to my job and I have struggled terribly with certain aspects of it.

However I know now how best to look after myself at work and socially. Also how to prepare for and be successful in situations that I dread and am apparently not suited to. So things have improved greatly there, and I don't waste any time trying to force myself to be a certain way. i.e. "chatty" all the time.

I would never expect an employer to take my INFJ status into account for the purposes of hiring OR firing. That wouldn't be fair on anyone.

wildbhoysmama · 24/08/2017 14:06

ESFP - where are my people?!!! I'm feeling lonely over here entertaining myself! ( the entertainer apparently).

PaganGoddessBrigid · 24/08/2017 14:08

They're out socialising wildboysmomma !

PaganGoddessBrigid · 24/08/2017 14:12

So Stromberg's theory is that it relies on binary answers or something. How does his one opinion, his one theory get to debunk Karl Jung and Myers Briggs.

With all theories you can either believe and support and ignore. Fact is still that it does ring true for most people. I can't respect Stromberg when he compares MBPT to star signs! If he really means that then he is the one who needs to be debunked.

AmysTiara · 24/08/2017 14:18

ISTJ- an organised, logical introvert.

Definitely me Grin

BertrandRussell · 24/08/2017 14:19

I don't think anyone is debunking Jung, are they? I think they Rw debunking the un psychologically qualified Myers and Briggs...

Madhairday · 24/08/2017 14:20

Ovaries and Bertie - another ENFP married to an INTJ here!

He organises me, I make him socialise Grin
