WIBU to tell colleague she shouldn't have a dog?

thesleepystorm · 23/08/2017 13:50

I know I should mind my own business but...my colleague is about to purchase a pug puppy. She found it on the pets4homes Hmm website. She lives in a top floor London flat (where she isn't allowed pets anyway, she rents), she is out all day at work and then the gym so about 12 hours a day but does not intend on employing a dog walker because it's too expensive, nor does she intend on getting pet insurance for the same reason. Yet she has spent ££££££ on an expensive bed, toys and carrier for this dog. She has never owned a pet before.

I really want to say something to her regarding the above - particularly warning her off pets4homes - but I think she might tell me to sod off. But it makes me so cross!!! WIBU to say something?

Poor thing is nothing more than a fucking fashion accessory

OP, your friend is one selfish, immature, irresponsible bitch! How old is she? She doesn't want a dog, she wants a fucking toy she can play with when the mood takes her. Dogs are living, breathing things with needs. All dogs - even the smallest - need daily exercise and stimulation/ human interaction. It's going to be bored out of it's skull (and will probably tear up the place and end up caged, shit everywhere and howl all day). She also obviously can't afford a dog either if she can't afford insurance or vet's fees. WTF is she going to do if the dog gets sick? What she is planning is beyond cruel. I would track down her landlord and tell them of her plan. The LL might pre-empt with a 'reminder' warning of the no pet rule which would be something. I know LL's have to give notice so how do they catch out people keeping pets illegally?
Anyhow, it'll be the dog who suffers... :( She'll make its life miserable and will probably get rid of it when the novelty wears off! Fucking hideous bitch! Angry

ShmooBooMoo · 25/08/2017 17:08

She's got it? Inform the landlord asap!

FluffyPineapple · 25/08/2017 17:11

I just can't bear the thought of it being forced to breed

Anyone who gets a dog to match their décor wont keep it long.

Poor dog :( Hopefully it will get a lifelong home with realistic dog owners soon....God knows what it will have to go through before then though

ShmooBooMoo · 25/08/2017 17:12

This thread has me fucking livid! And, your boss is fucking pathetic!
There has to be a way for you to locate her flat/ landlord and inform them.

gingergenius · 25/08/2017 17:18

What a horrible woman. My dog is part of my family. I sometimes love her more than either my kids or my OH!!!! I am hoping against hope something can be done here x

thesleepystorm · 25/08/2017 17:19

I know what the block looks like, I'll see if I can find it on google street view

ShmooBooMoo · 25/08/2017 17:23

Thanks Sleepy for trying to look out for this poor dog. Please keep us updated.

Eleventybillionfucks · 25/08/2017 18:36

Just phone the bank and ask to speak to someone in relation to [insert flats name here]

thesleepystorm · 25/08/2017 18:39

I don't know the block of flats name. I know the street and pretty sure I know the block on street view but can't find the actual name anywhere

Hopefully this poor dog will be gone long before it's old enough to breed. People who breed for money disgust meAngry. There is no love and care for the animals just $$$$ signs. I really really hope it chews her shoes and shits up the walls - highly likely if left alone and not exercised.
Pups are hard work and who knows what the breeding of this poor pup is like ie: multiple medical problems, so no insurance is outrageous stupidity but shows the level of careSad.
I used to (very occasionally) breed large dogs and the amount of work was phenomenal. There was always a waiting list for the pups who all went to strictly vetted homes & the amount of poo/wee a litter generates is something else!!

gingergenius · 25/08/2017 18:43

Just a thought @thesleepystorm but have you physically seen the puppy? I.e. Could she perversely, just be TELLING you she's done this in a fit of pique because she doesn't like being told what to do? I realise that's me hoping for the best rather than being even remotely close but it just struck me if she's the petulant sort, that might be the sort of thing she might do? Or not?!?

thesleepystorm · 25/08/2017 18:55

I've seen it, there's pictures of it on Instagram

KatharinaRosalie · 25/08/2017 19:13

Hope the dog shits all over and chews the 'matching decor'

pigsDOfly · 25/08/2017 19:23

She's planning to breed the poor thing? Was going to say, has she any idea what's involved, but clearly she wouldn't care if she's doing it for money.

When exactly is she planning to breed this poor animal? And does she realise how possible it is that the poor little thing might not survive being bred given that it's probably full of health problems. Is she even going be there when the poor animal gives birth.

I remember when my dog was born how everything revolved around the mother and pups and in the weeks that followed the birth how the breeder never left them alone. It looked like bloody hard work.

Doubt somehow she's going to be that sort of breeder though.

LaurieFairyCake · 25/08/2017 20:12

She will get rid of it within 2 weeks of an unrestrained dog peeing and pooing in her flat. No one can put up with that.

gingergenius · 25/08/2017 21:37

Shit @thesleepystorm - I hope it doesn't shut all over her flat etc because it sounds possible that she'd just chuck it out. Can you go to her flat and msybevputvonecif those collar tracking devices on its collar, so if she abandoned it, you could track it.

I've just read that back and realise I sound a bit batty but you get where I'm coming from?

So sad.

gingergenius · 25/08/2017 21:39

That should've read: "I hope it doesn't shit all over her flat etc because it sounds possible that she'd just chuck it out. Can you go to her flat and put one of those collar tracking devices on its collar?

thesleepystorm · 25/08/2017 21:50

Thanks all, I'm trying to sort it

In the event she tries to chuck it out I will take it, I have two cats and live in a small flat myself so can't keep it but I could certainly ensure it went to a proper rescue

However as she spent ££££ on it i imagine she would want to sell it on which is v worrying

TheLegendOfBeans · 25/08/2017 21:59

This kind of thing makes my piss boil.

gingergenius · 25/08/2017 22:27

Good on you @thesleepystorm - If I was closer, I'd don my balaclava and come with you on a midnight rescue mission. Poor little pooch. I don't even like pugs as a breed but I'd still rescue her squashed little face bless her! poor blighter x

K1092902 · 25/08/2017 22:29

What is she going to do if she gets a barker and another tenant (rightly) informs the landlord because it's causing a noise disturbance?

I'm guessing not many lights are switched on upstairs?

thesleepystorm · 25/08/2017 22:30

ginger not a particular pug fan either, Im not a dog person full stop as it happens but can't bear animal cruelty

OP posts:
IrritatedUser1960 · 25/08/2017 22:40

Report her to the RSPCA.

Eleventybillionfucks · 26/08/2017 01:51

Change your tactic op.
Send her a nice text saying how wrong you were and how you love dogs and would love to come visit her puppy, then get her address and report her to the rspca and the bank and any local animal rescuers
