to want DPD drivers to think before they deliver a parcel?

I was expecting a parcel (shoes) between 11-12 today. At 10.15 I was washing my hair and the doorbell rang, so I grabbed a towel to cover myself and poked my head around the door. I said 'O, you're early' in an attempt to explain why I wasn't dressed, and he just asked for my surname and gave me the parcel (shoebox).
I left the parcel by the door and dashed back to the shower to finish my hair. Now I've just gone to open the parcel and it isn't mine! The driver has given me a parcel for a completely different parcel and postcode Shock Now I don't have my shoes that I needed today and have some size 11 Nike trainers instead Angry
A couple of weeks ago, a DPD driver threw my parcel over someone's garden fence in a different village! I order a lot on line but only seem to have issues with DPD. Yes- I will be contacting them but just wanted to rant.

i missed their delivery and called them back umpteen times, cost me a fortune, so I am not happy with them either.
then they turned up on saturday morning, this is despite me booking for monday

NormaSmuff · 21/08/2017 10:42

I am expecting them again today,

gamerchick · 21/08/2017 10:47

yeah that fucking precise delivery thing they brought in has been a complete shambles. It's affected service throughout. Why they thought it was a good idea is beyond me.

You shouldn't have a parcel for a completely different postcode though. Ring the depot or rather ring customer service who will ring the depot..Those lot are fierce.

pigeondujour · 21/08/2017 10:50

There is a real gap in the market for a good delivery service. I think every single existing one is bloody awful.

Jaimx86 · 21/08/2017 10:51

Good luck, Norma. Last time when my parcel was thrown over the wrong fence they did make the driver go back the next day and resolve the situation. I just hope it hasn't caused too much of a pickle for the woman who ordered the Nikes. My hair takes ages to dry so it'd be a while until I could take her parcel to her- not that I should have to, but don't want her to be put out too.

I must be lucky. The DPD drivers where I am are fab. I hate not having the one hour delivery window when it is a different company. I think only once have they been late but that was only a few minutes at Christmas.

pigeondujour · 21/08/2017 10:57

Might be wiser to let them come and get it rather than take it to her yourself, OP. It's their fuck up and to be honest I wouldn't want to be transporting somebody's expensive parcel myself without the insurance and so on to do so.

Pouncival · 21/08/2017 11:00

I never have trouble with DPD, they're great - you must be very unlucky

DownstairsMixUp · 21/08/2017 11:00

Yanbu, dpd are shocking ! Myhermes are quite good round here

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 21/08/2017 11:00

I had Amazon delivery try to deliver to me where the only similarity between my address and the correct delivery address is the frigging number. I werent in at the time so I had to take the parcel to the correct address.

It boggles the mind that they delivering to xxxxfields, drive past that house and deliver to xxxx way, further down the road to a dead end.

MollyHopps · 21/08/2017 11:01

I was waiting for my phone to be delivered. Chose a date and time first thing in the morning, waited in all day.

At 7pm and received an email containing a close up picture of a brick wall and a house plant. No number showing and no identifiable features, so I couldn't even guess which house they had left it at. Under a car, too.

Kicked up a shit storm with that one.

I'm really surprised DPD are the best ones that we have, I groan when I see it's Hermes

PlausibleSuit · 21/08/2017 11:06

I haven't had a problem with DPD - although they do sometimes do that annoying 'knock and run away fast' thing - but I cannot stand Yodel. Poor timing, they chuck things around and the two drivers we get regularly around here are both hair-raisingly rude. I know they're on tough targets for deliveries but a smile wouldn't hurt.

LemonBreeland · 21/08/2017 11:09

DPD once sent a you weren't home email complete with picture of front door, except I had been in and the photo showed my neighbours front door. We both have our house numbers on our doors, so no excuse.

PointlessUsername · 21/08/2017 11:11

It must be Luck with the driver, i have had no trouble with them.

Hermes on the other hand everytime. Last time they claimed to have deliver to me via my letterbox.
Except how did they manage to fit a pair of size 8 trainers through a letterbox?

OnionKnight · 21/08/2017 11:14

DPD are great here, My Hermes are fucking awful.

waitingforlifetostart · 21/08/2017 11:15

I find dpd amazing.

SapphireStrange · 21/08/2017 11:16

My DPD service is very good and I really like the driver. On the other hand, UPS have just last week claimed I was 'unavailable' when they 'tried to deliver' something to me and made me go to a pick-up point to get it.

We have a very loud doorbell and I was expecting the delivery, so was listening out for either that or a knock at the door. Didn't hear a thing. We get loads of parcels delivered with no problems at all.

I think it's just the luck of the draw.

Aeroflotgirl · 21/08/2017 11:19

I am lucky with the DPD drivers here, they are always on time, and come within the alloted time slot, and if they are running late, you get an e mail

Imamouseduh · 21/08/2017 11:23

I love my DPD driver and service. Don't get me started on Hermes, though.

MuddlingThrough1724 · 21/08/2017 11:25

Another one who is always pleased when it's DPD delivering as they are the only decent delivery company our way! They came early once but were super apologetic about it even though it made no difference to me.

Think it very much depends on area and driver. My Hermes are awful where we live now but were great at our old place for example.

19lottie82 · 21/08/2017 11:25

I've never had a problem with DPD either, they're fab! You must just have a bad driver

crazycatgal · 21/08/2017 11:27

Ring the depot. One time I was waiting for my parcel and I got a text saying it had been dropped off at a drop off point at the other side of town. I rang the depot and they made the driver go back and get it and deliver it to me correctly.

Crumbelina · 21/08/2017 11:27

I love DPD! The tracking and alternative delivery options. The hour slots. Sorry, not helpful.

lifeinthecountry · 21/08/2017 11:28

DPD are really good here (as are all the others atm, including myhermes - touch wood). Parcelforce is the only one that's occasionally a bit dodgy, they seem to keep dumping things on the postman.
