to want DPD drivers to think before they deliver a parcel?

I was expecting a parcel (shoes) between 11-12 today. At 10.15 I was washing my hair and the doorbell rang, so I grabbed a towel to cover myself and poked my head around the door. I said 'O, you're early' in an attempt to explain why I wasn't dressed, and he just asked for my surname and gave me the parcel (shoebox).
I left the parcel by the door and dashed back to the shower to finish my hair. Now I've just gone to open the parcel and it isn't mine! The driver has given me a parcel for a completely different parcel and postcode Shock Now I don't have my shoes that I needed today and have some size 11 Nike trainers instead Angry
A couple of weeks ago, a DPD driver threw my parcel over someone's garden fence in a different village! I order a lot on line but only seem to have issues with DPD. Yes- I will be contacting them but just wanted to rant.

I am lucky with the DPD drivers here, they are always on time, and come within the alloted time slot, and if they are running late, you get an e mail

Same for me. I feel like I know my very lovely local driver quite well; he's been delivering here for years, and I take in a fair few parcels for my neighbours in the building as well as my own, as I work at home. If he comes more than about twice in one week we always have a laugh about how often we see each other. Grin

i missed their delivery and called them back umpteen times, cost me a fortune, so I am nothappy with them either

Why didn;t you just rearrange your delivery online using the tracking number they gave you? It's really easy.

A DPD driver delivered my parcel at 22:40 a couple of months ago. I was not impressed and felt vulnerable opening the door at that time of night.

Jaimx86 · 21/08/2017 11:37

You must just have a bad driver I seem to have a different driver every time. My Hermes driver is always the same though.

My DPD driver is fab. I am very lucky from the sound of things.

Londonexhile · 21/08/2017 11:41

Our DPD driver has changed recently, which is a massive shame.

I ordered 2 things last week, both were coming through DPD. He managed to deliver one to my neighbour (despite me being in) and the other to a completely different village.

As the one to a different village was a dress for a wedding that weekend, I shamefully lost my rag on the phone to the depot (I'm 9 months pregnant, it's not that simple to just find another dress) he went and fetched it and redelivered - said it was misaddressed. It wasn't. How hard is it to check that the village actually matches the village you're in?!

UPS did that to me...apparently tried to deliver several times, I was in, and pottering in the kitchen on both days. The kitchen that has a 6ft window overlooking the road and the drive! LIARS!

DPD are angels...one issue with a new driver, trying to deliver my parcel to neighbours who were out, he knows where we are now. And the main one for our area is lovely and even complimented a new hair do, that dh had failed to notice. Dh now asks if "my boyfriend" left any parcels. Hmm
DPD guy also leaves the GIANT box of dogfood in the porch with a little note on it to say "left in porch" ....the porch is barely bigger than the box of dog food, so that always makes me laugh

Some of the Hermes drivers are terrible....I think they wait for a job lot of parcels and deliver all at once. Or pretend we do not exist....funny how every other delivery company knows where we are.

I am having issues with the relief postie atm....two missing parcels so far...I have been into the sorting office to enquire if he needs retraining not to steal my parcels as the house layout could be confusing and I am missing parcels. My normal posties are fabulous.

Jaimx86 · 21/08/2017 11:43

Update
The driver has just returned with the correct parcel and taken the other one. He apologised a lot and seemed genuinely sorry for the mix up.

Our goofy DPD driver left my parcel (of perishables) on ndn's porch and said it had been delivered (in other words had thought he delivered it to us).

The one that wins the prize is the Amazon delivery that was put in our food waste box on top of a pile of two-week-old chicken bones. So that's a fail on the part of both the Amazon delivery person and the council who regularly fail to empty the food waste box.

arousingcheer · 21/08/2017 11:48

Great news.

I have found DPD good for agreeing to sort things that they get wrong and I think it's relatively easy to reach a human via phone.

wowfudge · 21/08/2017 11:52

We have a regular DPD driver who doesn't seem to read the safe place instructions we provide: he just puts everything in next door's safe place. Me and DP have both been in waiting for things then realised the delivery has been and gone. On checking, he's left them next door and also recorded they were signed for, when they couldn't possibly have been.

Yodel is best near us - their driver even makes sure he delivers to me before I leave for work!

Mind you, our address is confusing as sat nav takes you half a mile down the road. Every takeaway delivery guy going next door (there are lots) rings our bell. Every damn time. We were joking that we should get a sign, "Delivering a takeaway? Please go round the back" with a big arrow on it.

Jaimx86 · 21/08/2017 11:53

Arousing, I agree. All problems I've had have been fixed pretty quickly, but a simple check of the parcel before handing it over/leaving it could save a lot of problems.

I like DPD where we are. MyHermes are crap here, but really cheap I feel guilty every time I send an eBay order with them.

elfinpre · 21/08/2017 12:00

DPD are brilliant compared with other couriers. Tell them what happened.

TDHManchester · 21/08/2017 12:08

the trouble is or almost likely is that the drivers are driven too hard and possibly bullied to do rounds as quickly as possible, in the end things slip

Huskylover1 · 21/08/2017 12:20

At size 11, I really hope those Nike are for a man! Grin

listsandbudgets · 21/08/2017 12:20

I have always found DPD to be great.

They did make a mistake a while ago though when they sent me a photo of a front door that wasn't mine - or so far as I could tell even in the same road.

I sent a stroppy email and it turned up with my normal driver the next day with lots of apologies. Otherwise never had a problem with them. I've got a delivery coming tomorrow so will see how it goes

Rumplestaleskin · 21/08/2017 12:21

I receive parcels regularly through Dpd (twice a month) and, in the main, I haven't had many issues. However, there have been occasions where they messed up the delivery labels and blamed the sender (which was bullshit). One highlight was receiving five large boxes in my husband's name. Thought nothing of it as he is an avid e-Bayer. I opened the boxes, at his insistence, and discovered packs of incontinence pads. Suffice to say neither of us had placed that order.

gamerchick · 21/08/2017 12:21

Or maybe not tell them? The drivers already going to get in trouble for being out of etas, why make it worse for him? Parcels have gone where they should, no harm done maybe.

ChuffMuffin · 21/08/2017 12:23

To be honest, the reason that parcel companies like DPD and that are so bad is because a. the drivers are self employed and they get paid something like 80p to deliver a parcel and b. they only get that 80p if the parcel is actually "delivered".. delivered being open to interpretation!

Nobody wants to pay for postage, or pay as little as possible, and that's how we end up with shitty delivery companies.

BumWad · 21/08/2017 12:23

I have found DPD to be the best for me, maybe it's because the depot isn't too far from my house?

MaximaDeWit · 21/08/2017 12:23

I love my DPD driver. I'm either lucky or you're unlucky, or both

Iamembarrassed · 21/08/2017 12:36

I love dpd they are the best at delivering to me. I live in a very easily accessible and easy to get to place but you would be shocked that Hermes regularly can not find me and often deliver to a house on the other side of town ... on seven separate occasions. After the second I exchanged phone numbers and go and collect my package and being a thank you gift to the poor old Lady who seems to get my packages, the funny thing is our addresses are completly differentl

caffeinestream · 21/08/2017 12:44

Our local DPD are really good. On time, polite and efficient. I would pick them over any other delivery service out there.

Owl1011 · 21/08/2017 12:55

DPD once took a photo of my front door and sent me a message to tell me I wasn't in....well yeah
