If you are stopping the traffic, do not cross when there is a gap in the traffic, you pressed the fucking button so you wait for the green man!

All the stopping and starting adds to the pollution and it really fucks me off when I stop and they have already crossed and are on their merry way!

It can't be just me can it that thinks people who do this are inconsiderate, selfish and rude with no thought for the environment?

Come Tom Switzerland, no one crosses before the green man is up. Ever. I got tutted at by old ladies for crossing when the red man was showing, there wasn't a car for hundreds of meters in any direction. The police are also know for liberally handing out tickets to jay walkers.

It is here (jaywalking is illegal) and it's a stupid system that prioritises cars over people.

Surely the gap exists whether they saw it when they pressed the button or not.

I highly doubt it's a concern for the environment that's the major annoyance here-it's having to stop for no reason.

How does it make any difference whether they wait or not? If I push the button and the traffic clears before the light changes I'll cross. I don't press the button unless there are cars around but if they turn off down a side street and I have time to get across the road then I'll cross. Why would I wait longer than I needed to?

Do you not have the crossings with sensors which detect if someone has pressed the button and walked away, cancelling the need to change the lights of no one is stood there?

Many a time I've pressed, seen a gap and crossed, then the lights don't change as I'm not stood waiting to cross anymore! Making all drivers around like you happy as you don't need to stop at all! Green man or not...

In what way am I adding to any problem? I never said that I don't wait.

What I said was that it doesn't make any difference either way as to whether you have to stop or not. If the pedestrian waits until the green man comes on you still have to stop.
