I'm overwhelmed with all this talk of war, North Korea and now Trumps talking of military intervention in Venuzala, now i hear India and China are close to war. I feel as if we've no future, like the worlds going to explode. Is there any hope, please calm me down.

I'm old enough to have been through all this before and even the end of WW2 (as a very small child). I'm still here! Do not worry! It won't happen. Even stupid people come to their senses (or are eliminated) before the worst happens. North Korea is just playing "My bomb is bigger than your bomb" and Trump is playing the same game, but neither will actually dare to use them as they know the consequences. Relax and sleep well.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 13/08/2017 22:26

This is what happens when men are in charge. History is stuffed full of pathetic, Willy-waving men ruining our beautiful planet....and still stupid people think they are better able than women!!?? 😶 Well, maybe we get the men we deserve for being so bloody stupid!

On a lighter note, does anyone remember the Twilight Zone episode about the missile? It's a cracker!!

AgentZigzag · 13/08/2017 22:34

'Well, maybe we get the men we deserve for being so bloody stupid!'

Nice bit of victim blaming there LastG, noone in NK has done anything to deserve what they've ended up with.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 13/08/2017 22:45

No, that's very true Agent, but I was talking about the men VOTED INTO office, not those forced upon innocent people.

AgentZigzag · 13/08/2017 22:57

I'm sure the half (?) of the US population who didn't vote for Trump would probably disagree with that LastG Grin but I get what you mean.

None of us have that much power over what's done 'in our name', I mean Russia's supposed to be a democracy but it's not really is it?

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 13/08/2017 23:03

Thanks Agent - yes, the silent majority don't really have a voice, despite what some think.

I HATE the way stupid, reckless people seem to hold sway!! And then they tell themselves they are speaking on everyone's behalf!!😲😂

cheval · 13/08/2017 23:10

Also why we should stay in Europe!! Stronger together.

Deadsouls · 13/08/2017 23:12

Would it help to have a news fast? No radio/tv/internet news.

simon50 · 14/08/2017 06:40

The sad truth is there is nothing that any of us on here can do about it.

We are in the hands of parties of all colours who lie to us, who in turn are in the hands of the big cooperates.

DavetheCat2001 · 14/08/2017 08:34

Looks like Trump's incompetence towards his handing of the terrorist incident in Virginia has somewhat eclipsed the willy waving with Kimmy.

I think a lot of this stuff with NK is actually just to help hide the fact the man is a buffoon who lurches from one crisis to another, and the stand off with NK is a convenient cover for the real issues that are occurring in the US right now.

I'm not overly concerned.

manicmij · 14/08/2017 09:20

The constant reporting of wprld events is causing lots of folk to be anxious. The media report only the sensational parts of stories often leaving out other more placid events. Turn off the news and don't buy tabloid newspapers. What will be will be.

simiisme · 14/08/2017 12:20

OP - It's a sad old world at the moment, but please don't worry.
I agree with titchy - Trump has less power than he appears to hold. The Supreme Court and the Senate have already defeated Trump on various issues, and they'd definitely step up and overrule him if he wanted to start a war.
The recent awful events in Virginia, and now a far right rally in Seattle is causing the scales to fall form many Republican supporters' eyes. It's galvanising more people to oppose him.
It will be okay xxx

simiisme · 14/08/2017 12:22

from not form

impossible · 14/08/2017 13:44

OP - I feel pretty much the same as you. The world is a very unstable place, with immoral leaders and a lunatic with his finger on the nuclear button. I could easily be awake all night worrying about the future.

Unfortunately, there is absolutely nothing we can do about the world situation so I am learning to switch off the news. This isn’t easy as I am a news addict and of course there is the constant drip drip.

I remember feeling utter panic when I was young and living through the Cold War and – as believeinginangels said it did no good at all except cause stress. Try to live for today. Try to put the news aside and focus on the life you have.

bsbabas · 15/08/2017 00:58

I always think the only wars worth worrying about are the ones happening right now and the aftermath of old ones. And the UK has a pretty good defense budget

SherbrookeFosterer · 15/08/2017 17:40

Nowhere near as bad as the Cold War & the Cuban missile crisis.

And don't get me talking about the Nazis. Relax!
