Hello all, new to Mumsnet and not sure if this post is in the appropriate place? Sorry if not...

Anyway, was having a discussion with the ladies at work about how the tree leaves are already starting to change colour. The nights are slowly drawing back in and it feels cooler (although it seems to have warmed up again today).

This got me feeling excited as I absolutely love autumn and the '...ber' months!

Apart from one colleague who feels the same, the others think I'm strange for loving Autumn!

Anyone else? :D

Can't wait for Autumn. Can't stand commuting in London when it's hot. It's unbearable, so many people smell bad.

We also finally start IVF in Autumn. The other day I saw a brown leaf and actually felt excited Blush

Flashinthepan · 11/08/2017 10:17

@Cailleach666 I really want to know where you live! It sounds beautiful.

Cailleach666 · 11/08/2017 10:29

Flashinthepan I live in Scotland.

ThePants999 · 11/08/2017 10:43

Hmm at the idea of August being Autumn.

lozzylizzy · 11/08/2017 10:45

I love autumn. At least the weather is a little more predictable!

Flashinthepan · 11/08/2017 10:48

Oooo I do love Scotland, might need to plan another trip back. Was there in September last year and it was magnificent!

Flashinthepan · 11/08/2017 10:54

Also, I am very excited about Autumn. I love all the seasons really and look forward to each one but Autumn is probably my favourite.

Cailleach666 · 11/08/2017 10:55

Me too flash- there's always a crackle in my cauldron at autumn.

PissedOffNeighbour · 11/08/2017 10:58

I love autumn too! Long country walks through crispy leaves, lighting the wood burner, a casserole bubbling in the slow cooker, bonfire night. The last few have been disappointing though as it's been too mild. I remember lighting the fire on Halloween but having to have the bifolds open as it was far too warm Sad

ItsNachoCheese · 11/08/2017 11:19

Being of ginger haired paleness autumn is so much better than the 3 days of summer scotland gets as its cooler and the colours are amazing. Plus cosy nights in with hot chocolate are bliss

Delatron · 11/08/2017 12:23

Fantasy Autumn sounds lovely! Real, drizzly, damp, grey Autumn is depressing. There's only so much snuggling under a blanket you can do, so boring.

Autumn, then winter, then usually a freezing March, often snow in April. Brief respite for the odd week in June/July then a shit, wet August. Then off we go again. I loathe the dark mornings, I have so much more energy in the summer.

When you like the warmth this really isn't the country to live in.

CanIHaveChocolatePlease · 11/08/2017 12:40

I thought I was the only one who looked forward to autumn and winter but I'm glad to see that I'm not alone on that Grin

I love the dark evenings, being able to wear nice woolly, warm clothes and being able to lounge around watching good television!

But since I'm in Ireland I'm classing it as autumn already even if my mother doesn't agree with me Smile

Lilifer · 11/08/2017 12:55

YABU

Autumn = House spider season

That is all. 😑

Whiterabbitears · 11/08/2017 13:31

Oh I am the same Autumn is my absolute favourite time, especially September and October. I hate summer, I get grumpy and uncomfortable in the heat. I love the colours, nights drawing in and Autumn cozy clothes. I like the back to school feeling, harvest, Halloween and bonfire night. No more annoying flies, wasps or sweaty armpits! I can't wait!

GreenShadow · 11/08/2017 13:48

Noooo!
Autumn is so depressing. Months ans months to wait until next summer.

specialsubject · 11/08/2017 14:01

Darker nights ( Rees mogg talked out the daylight saving bill) and the horrible shit that is the three months of tatmas. Not good.

Whattheduck · 11/08/2017 14:12

Myself and dd (age 12) were talking about this the other day as we both love Autumn and my dh hates it
I love being cosy indoors
Cooking hearty meals
Snuggling up under a blanket and watching a film
Getting wrapped up and going for a lovely walk
Halloween and bonfire night (also my birthday in November)
Putting the electric blankets back on the beds so the beds are nice and warm

EccentricPickle · 11/08/2017 14:22

I love Autumn. It looks so pretty with the orange leaves and I love getting all cozy and lighting candles. I love Halloween and bonfire night and best of all - Pumpkin Spiced Baileys 😋.

I really like getting bundled up in scarves and hats and getting ready for Christmas shopping. Christmas is my favourite thing.

I hate January and February though!

I prefer hot weather generally but we don't seem to get any where I live so I embrace Autumn. This summer has been pants! It seems to have rained every day this summer holidays! However, I don't feel like summer is quite over yet as I still have my holiday coming up in a couple of weeks. Can't bloody wait!

Roussette · 11/08/2017 14:41

I hate hate hate it.

It means not long till clocks go back and rain, grey and cold for six months. Loathe it.

I love summer clothes, bare legs, sleeveless dresses, jewelled sandals. I hate wearing coats and boots and socks and feeling cold all the time. I wish I could hibernate until the warmth comes again!

Cailleach666 · 11/08/2017 14:58

I can't bring myself to hate a season, all have their merits and I get excited at the turn of each one, but I have a special fondness for Autumn.

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 11/08/2017 15:01

< rolls through imaginary pile of crisp autumn leaves>

Love autumn, luff luff luffetty luffs it!

LoniceraJaponica · 11/08/2017 15:03

YABU, only because winter follows, and I hate winter. The long nights and low light levels really affect my mood, and they also affect DD's mood even more badly than mine.

Please don't wish our "summer" away.

I'm with Roussette on this and regret not getting enough wear out of my summer clothes. I like being able to line dry my clothes and enjoy my garden which is looking wonderful this year.

Ifailed · 11/08/2017 15:05

Putting the electric blankets back on the beds so the beds are nice and warm

So you'd rather spend money warming up the beds than have them warmed for free? Odd.

deadringer · 11/08/2017 15:05

I love autumn but hate the winter. I agree with everything nomud said. And yes it's autumn here in Ireland, the weather has been pretty good this year but it's getting chilly at night already.
