I know a little bit about safe cracking. I think "it wasn't where I thought it was" probably refers to the number the code ends on, which can usually be determined quite easily with a stethoscope as it makes a double click when you roll past it or something. I'm assuming it's a combination safe as I've not read the first thread yet.

I guess Kyle made a small error when getting that number and it was throwing out attempts to open it.

Could be barking up totally the wrong tree though lmao.
