So. Have pieced together the whole story of exactly how we ended up with Kyle.
The number to call, right on the safe, rings and rings and no answer. DH goes to the business and it is closed. Meanwhile goes (who does this?) to two other locations but neither do safes. Realtor recommends Kyle's family business. Locally owned, we now suspect he is a grandson of founder. Message left to call.
Meanwhile continues to call number on safe and finally gets a human who tells him they don't do safes (name is Safe Company!) but give him Ken's name and number. They recommend him. Leave a message with Ken. DH meanwhile does deal with Kyle. Ken four days later gets back with Tuesday offer at higher price than Wednesday offer. DH sets up for Wednesday. And thus Ken turned into Kyle.
Penny foolish. You get what you pay for. All the old saws at work here.
DH suitably chagrined. We're not quite sure how to proceed.
