Toddzilla Thread 2 - No Toddlers at the hen do please!

Second thread set up as demanded by the Mumsnet hen do menagerie :)

Original thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2998359-AIBU-You-dont-bring-a-toddler-to-a-hen-do?

Quick summary:
Organising friend's hen do. All booked and paid for, sorted. Two weeks prior a friend attending, hereby known as Demanding Woman, tells me she will be bringing her toddler and DP along as toddler has tantrums that DP can't handle and won't sleep without her there. She will also require a private room now in the converted barn we are staying in, despite everyone agreeing to share etc.

A whatsapp exchange ensues with myself declaring that no this will no be happening and Demanding Woman getting very shirty. Demanding Woman takes it to bride who also shuts it down. So far Demanding Woman is still attending hen do in less than two weeks but is now trying to take control of hen do in terms of games/food/drink etc.

We now have a whole minibus of Mumsnetters, Toddlers, Toddler-eating-dogs, Elephants, hamsters, moody teenagers all planning to attend with boxes of popcorn to take over barn and avidly watch my first meeting with Demanding Woman which I'm definitely not completely and utterly dreading

I'm not sure I will have any further updates for a bit but I promise if there are any further mad details to be had, you will be the first to know.

As you were, Mumsnetters.

I hope nobody has allergies. The cat wants to give everyone a lap dance and he's moulting like crazy. Don't wear anything you are too fond of his claws will ruin it.

treacletoffee23 · 10/08/2017 09:50

Keep serving - we can have lots of ThemesSmile Im think Glastonbury,
Tents, whole arenas, a Petting Farm,
Jugglers ......maybe squeeze the Bride in somewhere.

MsHooliesCardigan · 10/08/2017 09:57

My cryogenically frozen GM has communicated to me that she wants to come along with her attendant.

MsHoolie 😂😂😂

rightwhine · 10/08/2017 11:03

Awaiting the weekend on this place mark. I'm busy so I can't actually come with you all but will await the photo's. Just not too many - thanks.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/08/2017 11:03

MsHoolie let's look on the bright side ... at least it will be somewhere cool to keep the drinks Wink

Rossigigi · 10/08/2017 11:29

Now me the tortoise and rabbit are coming my teens are feeling left out. So I will be bringing them also plus ds1 girlfriend- she's only a dote so won't take up much space!!!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/08/2017 11:41

the bride made it very clear that should Demanding Woman arrive at wedding with child in tow, she would have to leave

Good luck with that too Hmm I can't remember if it's a church or hotel type wedding, but who's going to want the responsibility of telling them they can't come in with the risk of the major kick off it could cause?

Then again, perhaps these ushers (or whatever) have more balls than most ...

Hoppinggreen · 10/08/2017 11:58

With reference to a thread on S&B can I suggest we all wear traditional Bavarian/Austrian clothes?
We could play traditional games such as Hide the Bratwurst

Cagliostro · 10/08/2017 12:29

Perhaps I'm misremembering but technically can't anyone wander into a church and watch a wedding without getting kicked out? 😱😱😱

DartmoorDoughnut · 10/08/2017 12:32

Well that made for fun lunchtime reading feeding DS2 takes FOREVER so 8 days time, me, the two DS - very cute, slightly whingey but easily distracted by tractors (DS1) and boob (DS2) - two DDogs and one DCat, no DH as he's away sadly 😂

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/08/2017 12:40

I think you're right Cagliostro, but I've never been quite sure how the "in public sight" requirement works when it comes to hotel weddings

As I said, I honestly can't remember what the venue's going to be here, and guess that might make a difference?

Cagliostro · 10/08/2017 12:47

Yes I don't remember if the venue was mentioned! Plus there's the reception too anyway, hopefully the bride has bouncers for that :o

MrsO1980 · 10/08/2017 13:54

Sounds fun, everyone happy if I bring mini O ds1 who talks loudly all the time and mini ds 2 who is very stroppy. Both will be entertaining other guests by leaving lego everywhere (suggest everyone wears shoes at all times) and screaming at the DS computer thingy. Mini O Ds2 only eats spaghetti bolognese, so kindly refrain from any other food. Not been to a hen for ages but happy to provide lots of vodka and tales of student days. Can I bring DH too? He has a very big beard and will serenade entitled woman with bass guitar until her ears fall off or she chooses to leave? HTH Grin

thetemptationofchocolate · 10/08/2017 15:29

TriniRedVelvet I may also invite myself just so I can cuddle those gorgeous guinea pigs :)

Hezeehaahve · 10/08/2017 15:49

Oooh Can I come? I have just learned what "performance parenting" is from another thread and I feel a hen do is the perfect place to practice? Is there such a thing as "performance pet-owning"? I could bring extra guests...

TriniRedVelvet · 10/08/2017 19:39

thetemptationofchocolate They love cuddles but beware, you may get peed on Grin

driveninsanebythehubby · 10/08/2017 19:45

I'm starting to get a bit concerned that we haven't been given the date/venue/times yet.

Watch out girls, I reckon rum is going to accidentally 'forget' to tell us all. A bit like how DM is going to 'forget' she was told not to bring her husband and toddler/baby/devilspawn

driveninsanebythehubby · 10/08/2017 19:45

*DW not DM.... sorry Blush

IntelligentPutty · 10/08/2017 21:02

Looking forward to hearing how this all goes down!

KeepServingTheDrinks · 11/08/2017 00:25

driveninsanebythehubby Don't worry - Squoosh is picking us all up in the minibus. You'll be fine.

Dragon will you be my bff4eva in RL, please?

Rum I hope this isn't a problem but DDD (dear dowager dog - think Maggie Smith in Downton) has a small flea infestation that no treatment seems to beat. We've used every treatment known to dog, boil washed every soft furnishing, and sprayed everywhere. Still the buggers hop. I'm hoping they've RTFT and are hanging on hoping for a parrrteeee! No one will mind a few 'special guests' will they? They get to take them home! (a bit like party bags, in case you haven't planned for this!)

I'm not sure I want to dress Bavarian. (sp???).
But I COULD go a 'sound of music' if that theme is a go-er?
Or musicals generally (been channelling my inner ''Magenta" since 1985!)

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 11/08/2017 05:14

Then I'll come as Columbia. 😆

rightwhine · 11/08/2017 10:14

So is thread a lie then? She's been stringing us all along and has no intention of taking us?
I've got my suitcase packed and everything.

Tandia · 11/08/2017 15:53

The girls heard 'hen party' and they're waiting at the door. Don't forget to pick us up!!
