Toddzilla Thread 2 - No Toddlers at the hen do please!

whyhastherumgone · 08/08/2017 09:33

Second thread set up as demanded by the Mumsnet hen do menagerie :)

Original thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2998359-AIBU-You-dont-bring-a-toddler-to-a-hen-do?

Quick summary:
Organising friend's hen do. All booked and paid for, sorted. Two weeks prior a friend attending, hereby known as Demanding Woman, tells me she will be bringing her toddler and DP along as toddler has tantrums that DP can't handle and won't sleep without her there. She will also require a private room now in the converted barn we are staying in, despite everyone agreeing to share etc.

A whatsapp exchange ensues with myself declaring that no this will no be happening and Demanding Woman getting very shirty. Demanding Woman takes it to bride who also shuts it down. So far Demanding Woman is still attending hen do in less than two weeks but is now trying to take control of hen do in terms of games/food/drink etc.

We now have a whole minibus of Mumsnetters, Toddlers, Toddler-eating-dogs, Elephants, hamsters, moody teenagers all planning to attend with boxes of popcorn to take over barn and avidly watch my first meeting with Demanding Woman which I'm definitely not completely and utterly dreading

I'm not sure I will have any further updates for a bit but I promise if there are any further mad details to be had, you will be the first to know.

As you were, Mumsnetters.

DD's dragon ocelot wants to come. She'll need lots and lots of fish 🎣 and cake 🍰.

MyPatronusIsAUnicorn · 09/08/2017 20:54

Does this mean there are going to be 10 threads while posters are waiting for the event, like the whole Spangran thing.

Wizzywoodoodah · 09/08/2017 20:56

We'll be there- me, DH, DS, DD a few of DD's friends who will expect everyone to be dressed as mermaid, our 3 cats plus the stray that keeps visiting to use our litter tray and steal our cats' food. We fully expect cocktails, mocktails for the children, with umbrellas and sparklers. The cats will love to take over the hen's bed and expect a tuna buffet for breakfast in the morning.

milliemolliemou · 09/08/2017 20:58

You're quick on the uptake, Patronus

MipMipMip · 09/08/2017 21:10

Don't forget to order lots of strawberry minimilksGrin.

MipHound and I are coming. And his squeaky ball. But don't worry, the noise is quite soothing after a while.

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 09/08/2017 21:16

FiveGoMad DD would like to see a photo of Bob's dad. 😆

MrsK · 09/08/2017 21:22

I'm experiencing FOMO, so, I'm in. I am bringing teenage DD & her friends. They will need access to all bathrooms continuously so they remain "on fleek" at all times. The cats want to come, they, don't like dogs so obviously I must insist on no canines.

Also, I have recently found out that Surrey is the baby shower capital of the world. I live in Surrey & I never had one. So, I will expect a very belated baby shower this weekend. I might bring the MIL too she is a fun sponge

treacletoffee23 · 09/08/2017 21:30

Ooow Wizzy... Mermaids. I'm bringing my daughter, she has her own tail and fin....just requires a tank.
Can we have a Murder Mystery game? and dress up like Downton Abbey can we can we can we....

tamepanda · 09/08/2017 21:33

I'll bring DD (18 months) she's going through a delightful phase of screaming "NO WAAYYYYY" anytime you ask her something or to do something and has worked out how to climb on the dining room table and dance a jig this evening!

She'll make great company for the other toddler! 🤣🤣

zeezeek · 09/08/2017 21:56

Thoroughly enjoyed the last thread OP and just wanted to say that I'm sending along my girls and the three dogs as DH and I fancy a dirty weekend short break 😂

They are well behaved and low maintenance. The dogs that is.

My dds like pink, if that helps. Lots and lots of pink so please ensure that the barn has a pink area.

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 09/08/2017 22:00

DD now says she'll come, but her rider is Chinese food. She'll also bring a dragon wolf and a few dragon chickens. Make sure there are a lot of sheep for the wolf. And if any of the sheep belong to hen do MNetters, they'd better be careful that the wolf doesn't get them.

SugaredSocks · 09/08/2017 22:03

I'll be there with bells on. However I don't like the colour scheme off the barn so please can you make sure it's completely redone before we arrive. I'll be bringing my lo and my cabbit with me. I'm also gluten, sugar, dairy, soya, spices and meat free so please make sure that you completely revise all meals to make sure all of the above is removed from the premises and I only want to talk to the dogs the whole time. Oh and I'll need someone to dress me and take care of my Elizabethan gowns too. I do however make mean cocktails Wink so you'll all be three sheets to the wind within five minutes of my arrival so be prepared for the green fairy to arrive and also need a room.

treacletoffee23 · 09/08/2017 22:04

Ive chabged my mind about the Theme. Its going to be Game of Thrones and l am bringing my own Army of Unsullied. Plus a Dragon.

Benedikte2 · 09/08/2017 22:05

I can't wait to meet such a jolly MN throng so will be coming, invited or not. My needs are simple -- just a firm mattress on my bed and a chair that's not too low. Lots of coffee, too please (not instant). I don't ear red meat but love chicken and seafood, especially lobster and caviar.
I'd also like one of the many cats attending to cuddle.

thatdearoctopus · 09/08/2017 22:23

In honour of my afore-mentioned Amish beliefs, I must insist that there are no devilish modern devices to be used at any point during the weekend. Mobiles, ipads, cameras, the works. I trust everyone can work round this?

KeepServingTheDrinks · 10/08/2017 01:22

Treacle I was SO with you on your Downton Abby dress-code and murder mystery, but I'm afraid you've lost me with your GoT update. Unlike Mummy , I'm not a dragon, and although I have tits, I ain't getting them out no matter how raucous the games. although if the games are too physical, they may flash from under my jumper cos my norks are so far south these days....

PancakesAteTheChildren · 10/08/2017 01:26

Brilliant. Just read first thread and now just place marking :)

Wubsally · 10/08/2017 03:45

Im soo looking forward to hearing the outcome. I was riveted reading the 1st post the other night, who needs telly when we've got mn? 😂

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/08/2017 04:16

KeepServing I don't remember a Downton Abbey theme. Happy to go with it although some of the clothes can be a bit dowdy. I can be a bit unpredictable at times so best to come in something fun otherwise you may end up getting your tits out after all as your dress goes up in flames. Little dragon is exactly the same, she starts breathing fire when she's upset. We are both working on our anger issues. It's taken 20 billion years to get CBT on the NHS and I accidentally breathed too hard on my first counsellor whilst discussing a particularly harrowing episode in my life and she refused to see me again.

Hope you're still all looking forward to meeting a dragon FrogsSitonLogs Smile

nonfatnofoamlatte · 10/08/2017 04:52

I would like to go too, please. And Colby, my cat, has told me he wants to come as he loves hen parties! Well, he loves hens preferably cooked and chopped into little pieces for him to devour. But he must have wifi as he likes to play on his iPad all the time.

123MothergotafleA · 10/08/2017 06:05

My little dog says he's just sick with excitement about the whole thing and wishes it would all just hurry up and get on with the party. He is known for his delightful party trick of biting the ankles of the most annoying woman at the party.

LML83 · 10/08/2017 07:53

Waiting here for the hen! Hope it goes well OP.

CeCeDrake · 10/08/2017 08:36

Okay, so saying we all seem so accommodating on here, I too will be attending, I will bring along strong willed AND spirited 3yo DS I'm assuming we will have to fly there from N.Ireland so his ears will likely be sore causing him to be grouchy, he will also be attending the meal, he sometimes likes to eat at approx 6pm but this is subject to change so I will let you know on the day if appropriate changes need to be made to prearranged meal. He gets pretty stroppy and is known widely to pick his bum and nose at the one time but I'm pretty sure one of you won't mind nipping to the loo and cleaning him right up for me. I'll also need one of you to volunteer leaving at approx 7.15 to have him back in the room by 7.30pm to go to sleep for the night, I can't be missing the hen do after all. Anyone sharing the room is NOT under any circumstances allowed to get drunk as one drunk person is just under safety threshold but another would push us over the line sooo.. that will be me.
Thanks, know we're all going to have a fabulous time away.

dogsdieinhotcars · 10/08/2017 09:24

Skipped through first 39 page thread, got the gist, now got to keep watching! This has been fab rum !

dogsdieinhotcars · 10/08/2017 09:27

And want to come to Hen Do with my guinea pigs please. Only need one seat reserving on the coach. Please don't let the cats eat them. Please supply some lovely juicy grass. Oh and I've decided we'll play 'who can squeak loudest for attention', so guinea's can join in. Ok with that arrangement? I'm sure the bride won't mind.
