Second thread set up as demanded by the Mumsnet hen do menagerie :)

Original thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2998359-AIBU-You-dont-bring-a-toddler-to-a-hen-do?

Quick summary:
Organising friend's hen do. All booked and paid for, sorted. Two weeks prior a friend attending, hereby known as Demanding Woman, tells me she will be bringing her toddler and DP along as toddler has tantrums that DP can't handle and won't sleep without her there. She will also require a private room now in the converted barn we are staying in, despite everyone agreeing to share etc.

A whatsapp exchange ensues with myself declaring that no this will no be happening and Demanding Woman getting very shirty. Demanding Woman takes it to bride who also shuts it down. So far Demanding Woman is still attending hen do in less than two weeks but is now trying to take control of hen do in terms of games/food/drink etc.

We now have a whole minibus of Mumsnetters, Toddlers, Toddler-eating-dogs, Elephants, hamsters, moody teenagers all planning to attend with boxes of popcorn to take over barn and avidly watch my first meeting with Demanding Woman which I'm definitely not completely and utterly dreading

I'm not sure I will have any further updates for a bit but I promise if there are any further mad details to be had, you will be the first to know.

As you were, Mumsnetters.

Ffs, for the love of GOD, please stop placemarking!!! Angry
Not only is it dull as hell to read, but it'll mean we have to go to a third thread before the hen party has even taken place.

Madwoman5 · 09/08/2017 18:21

I have two teenagers. Don't worry, they are just babies so will sleep in your chest of drawers......or the wardrobe. Then there is me and dh, mil, fil,, mother. Oh yes, dsm and DF. But dsm and dm cannot stand df so if you could arrange some bouncers and a carer that would be great. Dh is diabetic, dm is gluton intolerant. I have to sleep in a bed with an ortho mattress so you won't mind giving up your room will you? Dh snores so will need his own space. Hope you can accommodate us and pick up our bill for the weekend...you can't? Well there's selfish for you.

TriniRedVelvet · 09/08/2017 18:24

Not only an I attending. The guinea girls are coming too. They heard it was in a barn and are picturing hundreds of bales of hay. Guinea pig heaven!!! Don't let their smallness fool you. their indoor palace is 3 times bigger than the outdoor play pen. I would need to bring both. We may need our own hummer. And lots of high quality hay. And organic spinach. We cannot wait!!!!!

fullofhope03 · 09/08/2017 18:41

ps - REALLY need to get a grip Grin

Mumof56 · 09/08/2017 18:42

Well the 57 of us are packed and ready to go. The children are very excited about seeing a Dragon.

kibrisli89 · 09/08/2017 18:43

I too have just signed up just to follow this thread haha! Grin

Mummyoflittledragon · 09/08/2017 18:44

Cool look forward to seeing the 56 kids and you 👍

FrogsSitonLogs · 09/08/2017 18:45

My 3 and 5 year old would love to see a dragon! They've only seen one on their Welsh flags (bought for sand castles). So they'll come too if that's ok? They go to bed at 7 so you'll have to be quiet after that and my 3 year old will ask everyone for biscuits.

Save us a seat on the bus!

Mumof56 · 09/08/2017 18:45

We're calling the bed in the lounge, the rest of you will have to share.

Cagliostro · 09/08/2017 18:50

I love the fact that this second thread has basically turned into a "show us your pets" photo fest :o

Especially the photos of actual pet hens!

Twink · 09/08/2017 18:51

This is Mumsnet at its absolute best. No doubt that the original was definitely YANBU and there was loads of good advice but it's now a threat to my pelvic floor.

Now, as a founder member of MN, I am clearly extremely important and will need my own facilities, well away from dd and her friends as they will be bringing illicit substances as 'no one cares that it's illegal if it's just for us innit?'

We no longer have animals, following the death of our hamster, upon which dd performed a post-mortem including decapitation so I'm sure she will be only to keen to do similar if any goats get over-excited and have heart failure at all the excitement..

FrogsSitonLogs · 09/08/2017 18:59

I think we need a head count. Else how will the OP organise all the mini buses?

Oldbutstillgotit · 09/08/2017 19:10

When I booked a place for me and DGS I mentioned he would bring his bagpipes but forgot to say that bagpipes need a seat on bus and NOTHING/ NO-ONE should bump into them . Also a velvet pillow to lay them. Ok ?

CotswoldStrife · 09/08/2017 19:13

I avoid hen parties can't imagine why after reading the MN threads about them and would have made an exception for this one but as someone with pet allergies, I don't think I'd survive this one with the amount of cats and dogs Angry If you don't mind, I'll join whatever FB/crapagram/feckssakewhatsthat group you have for this so I can flounce about it Angry

FiveGoMadInDorset · 09/08/2017 19:17

Bobs horns have got a bit bigger now if they are any use, his dad's are impressively bigger so can bring him along as well

treacletoffee23 · 09/08/2017 19:26

Is there a dress code or can we have a theme? Like Star Wars or something..

Purplealienpuke · 09/08/2017 19:57

I'm definitely coming. You might like to know I'm training as an embalmer. My latest project hasn't gone too well 🙄 but as it's my granny I will have to bring her as I can't leave her home alone...... on the plus side she doesn't eat much but there may be a bit of a smell 🤢

Rossigigi · 09/08/2017 20:01

Can I bring my tortoise and house rabbit please? ...........

andherplayfulsheep · 09/08/2017 20:01

La la la following for updates 😁

Puzzledandpissedoff · 09/08/2017 20:08

I'll bring my rabbit ... Put a duster on his back and he'll twist round in circles for ages

Give him his due, Hydrangea, he'll be no end useful when it comes to cleaning up ... with a broom handle up his arse we'll be able to reach right into awkward corners Wink Blush

ProfessorBranestawm · 09/08/2017 20:25

It's a hen party so a certain type of rabbit wouldn't be out of place. Blush

Mummyoflittledragon · 09/08/2017 20:26

Rossi
You don't ask. You announce.

treacle
Dress up however you want. But dd doesn't want to dress up as Princess Leia again .

What about 18th century French court? I thought it rather apt as we are rather recreating a modern version of Marie Antoinettes ideal village. And they were massively into having staff so I'd feel very much at home. Oh that reminds me, I'll be needing my own personal maid and ladies in waiting. Toodle pip.

GladGran · 09/08/2017 20:29

Could you take a video for us, please? (sorry if someone else suggested this) I'll be bringing a mad border collie, a grumpy cat and the vole which lives in the wall - it will keep my cat amused as now if that helps at all. If I can train them in time, I'll also bring an assortment from the vets' across the road. Really looking forward to this event!

silverspider05 · 09/08/2017 20:51

I'm bringing my ferrets. They stink but you won't notice after a while. Oh and make sure you keep them away from the stripper's junk.
