Toddzilla Thread 2 - No Toddlers at the hen do please!

Second thread set up as demanded by the Mumsnet hen do menagerie :)

Original thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2998359-AIBU-You-dont-bring-a-toddler-to-a-hen-do?

Quick summary:
Organising friend's hen do. All booked and paid for, sorted. Two weeks prior a friend attending, hereby known as Demanding Woman, tells me she will be bringing her toddler and DP along as toddler has tantrums that DP can't handle and won't sleep without her there. She will also require a private room now in the converted barn we are staying in, despite everyone agreeing to share etc.

A whatsapp exchange ensues with myself declaring that no this will no be happening and Demanding Woman getting very shirty. Demanding Woman takes it to bride who also shuts it down. So far Demanding Woman is still attending hen do in less than two weeks but is now trying to take control of hen do in terms of games/food/drink etc.

We now have a whole minibus of Mumsnetters, Toddlers, Toddler-eating-dogs, Elephants, hamsters, moody teenagers all planning to attend with boxes of popcorn to take over barn and avidly watch my first meeting with Demanding Woman which I'm definitely not completely and utterly dreading

I'm not sure I will have any further updates for a bit but I promise if there are any further mad details to be had, you will be the first to know.

As you were, Mumsnetters.

Is there room on the coach for a little one? Grin

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 09/08/2017 09:07

Did we ever find out how old Todzilla's toddler is?
I believe toddler was suddenly downgraded to 'just a baby' for the wedding

Oldbutstillgotit · 09/08/2017 09:28

Could someone post link to Cinderella story please ? Sounds as if it could be similar to a situation when DD was at nursery ( about 30 years ago) and was chosen to be Mary in the Nativity Play. Another Mum had promised her little girl that she would be Mary so all Hell broke loose. Mum even turned up at my house asking me to swap ( her daughter was a sheep) and when I said no she lobbed a stone at my car ! Ah, memories ......

Ooh dear. I see you got out of the wrong side of bed yesterday. I hope you've had time to fit a massage and face treatment today into your busy schedule and are feeling better. I'm having a stretch hummer dear. You're having a stretch limo. Really do I have to teach everyone around here the basics. No wonder there are soooo many divas in the world.

whyhastherumgone · 09/08/2017 10:51

I've contacted the owner of the barn, they're hurriedly building several extensions and an annexe to cope with our ever-growing guestlist.

To those who asked, the bride made it very clear that should Demanding Woman arrive at wedding with child in tow, she would have to leave. I hope she doesn't try her luck, I don't think she would have that much front after that conversation, hopefully.

I've been keeping an eye on the chat - so far she hasn't managed to get anyone on side for changing things, very non committal 'let's just see how things go when we get there' regarding changing everything up so she's not having much luck if she's trying to sneakily make it child friendly.

I don't think she understands that it's not even the games [they're actually not smutty or anything embarrassing at all] it's just the whole principle and the fact that it would totally change the dynamic of everything.

Oh well, only 8 days to go...counting down to the weekend away...

Oh that's made me laugh Old. :o So ironic with the whole Mary, mother of peace, etc.

I posted a link to the Cinderella thread on the last page.

whyhastherumgone · 09/08/2017 10:52

And no I don't know the exact age of toddler - but she's definitely a toddler and not 'just a baby' according to bride.

Oldbut
My dd was a sheep. Obviously I missed a trick, I should have been bitching and lobbing stones. She did make a very cute sheep. Dd wanted to be an angel actually. And I pointed out to her that she is an angel, she doesn't need to wear a costume.

whyhas

You forgot the swimming pool Angry

HSMMaCM · 09/08/2017 11:03

Even if you were having chicken nuggets at soft play, a hen party is no place for a toddler.

whyhastherumgone · 09/08/2017 11:07

well there's a hot tub Mummy but I will get back in touch quick smart and put in this further request. Along with butler service and 24 hour chef to cater for all our individual menu requirements. I'm sure the rest of the hen party will be more than happy to foot the bill. Grin

driveninsanebythehubby · 09/08/2017 11:51

Also shamelessly placemarking to continue getting the updates!

Very pleased to see this has continued to a new thread, I was getting worried that I would miss updates.

driveninsanebythehubby · 09/08/2017 11:52

PS the knitted willy warmers are hilarious to the pp who posted them!

Mummyoflittledragon · 09/08/2017 12:03

whyhas. Butler and chef. Very good. Very good. I'm sure the rest of the party will be happy to foot the bill. It's only pocket change after all. Wink

MrWriter · 09/08/2017 13:04

Just wanted to make sure there was still a place for me, the kids and the goats?

Jins · 09/08/2017 13:07

Just me and the grown up DSs at the moment but they may bring a friend each. They would prefer to be left to sleep all day and drink vodka while playing call of duty from late afternoon.

They've asked me to point out that they don't like too much screeching

I'm leaving the pets with DH as we need a real party

rslsys · 09/08/2017 14:02

Butler and Chef?
I'm sorry, but I will require my own and am not willing to share them.
I'm entitled to be Entitled!

Turquoise123 · 09/08/2017 17:32

Please confirm times and dates of event - or if you don't want to make it too clear who you are to DW can you just tell us when to check back in for update ?

Note to self : clear diary

Macncheesewithbacon · 09/08/2017 17:35

OLD - my DD school changed my daughters role in the nativity when the nightmare parent complained her daughters part was none speaking. When I went in and asked why the roles had changed (DD was upset) I was told that the other child had acting lessons out of school so deserved a bigger part Shock

QueenBee75 · 09/08/2017 17:40

Just marking

pollymere · 09/08/2017 17:51

It's a shame she doesn't realize this is her problem, not yours. She needs to find solutions otherwise she'll be stuck for every invite. Glad you stuck to your guns though!

Susiiejane · 09/08/2017 18:08

Can I come? I am disabled so would need wheelchair access and a room with a level access shower.
