Second thread set up as demanded by the Mumsnet hen do menagerie :)

Original thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2998359-AIBU-You-dont-bring-a-toddler-to-a-hen-do?

Quick summary:
Organising friend's hen do. All booked and paid for, sorted. Two weeks prior a friend attending, hereby known as Demanding Woman, tells me she will be bringing her toddler and DP along as toddler has tantrums that DP can't handle and won't sleep without her there. She will also require a private room now in the converted barn we are staying in, despite everyone agreeing to share etc.

A whatsapp exchange ensues with myself declaring that no this will no be happening and Demanding Woman getting very shirty. Demanding Woman takes it to bride who also shuts it down. So far Demanding Woman is still attending hen do in less than two weeks but is now trying to take control of hen do in terms of games/food/drink etc.

We now have a whole minibus of Mumsnetters, Toddlers, Toddler-eating-dogs, Elephants, hamsters, moody teenagers all planning to attend with boxes of popcorn to take over barn and avidly watch my first meeting with Demanding Woman which I'm definitely not completely and utterly dreading

I'm not sure I will have any further updates for a bit but I promise if there are any further mad details to be had, you will be the first to know.

As you were, Mumsnetters.

I'm coming and bringing MIL, FIL, DD and DH GrinWine

LellyMcKelly · 08/08/2017 22:24

I'm not going but I'll send my 8yo and 11yo. 8yo has pretty much moved to an all spaghetti bolognese diet and the 11yo is a vegetarian who doesn't like vegetables or cheese. The 8yo only wants to play Batman or a Pokemon games and the 11yo can bore you rigid entrance you with stories about unicorns. Also, I can't pick them up until 11pm on Sunday so if you could hang about for a few hours that would be great.

New thread new thread new thread i need a life

GinIsIn · 08/08/2017 23:41

@Whyisalltherumgone* we have a problem. Now there are so many attendees, MaxwellDog feels it simply isn't exclusive enough and just doesn't feel it's the kind of thing she can grace with her presence....

CheerfulYank · 08/08/2017 23:54

Marking my place!

God I love these threads. The absolute cheek of people. Nothing I enjoy more than a righteous fury :o

I see the girl's weekend in Ireland has been mentioned... remember the poster whose DD had been replaced as Cinderella in the panto?!

CheerfulYank · 09/08/2017 00:01

Apparently it's gone :( Oh I was in a RAGE over that one.

CheerfulYank · 09/08/2017 00:17

Ooh no, it's here Seven years later and I'm still irritated by it. I just skimmed it again muttering "not even the understudy " :o

Fishface77 · 09/08/2017 01:03

I'm coming too. I'll bring my rabbit. He can chase the cats around for amusement! None of these classy games. Put a duster on his back and he'll twist round in circles for ages. Got to be fun to watch after a few drinks..

(Cough) Anyone else thinking Ann Summers and pussys? (Slopes off quietly)

Piesy · 09/08/2017 02:22

I can only eat fruit that has fallen naturally from the trees.. not been picked by hand. Trust that will be addressed...

HeebieJeebies456 · 09/08/2017 05:30

i think she was planning on making it a 'weekend break/mini holiday' for her and dp - at everyone else's expense no pun intended

ChasedByBees · 09/08/2017 06:24

Just found this - I hope she doesn't cause trouble at the event!

KERALA1 · 09/08/2017 07:02

I fear the games she is planning will include pass the parcel, musical chairs, a quick rendition of wind the bobbin up then bed for all. That's fine for a hen party isn't it? Will no one think of the children?

GinIsIn · 09/08/2017 07:44

CheerfulYank I think I might have gone to that school!!! They used to have the Christmas play each year some mainly as a narration, with one hapless child - always bloody me - having to learn the entire thing and stand on the edge of the stage doing all the talking but not joining in, then the kids whose parents had given lots of money or had titles would be the ones who got to prance around in the costumes. All the fun, none of the responsibility, and mummy and daddy were always EVER SO pleased. Hmm

AuntieStella · 09/08/2017 07:53

I'll be there, bringing a selection of sarcastic teenagers.

I shall not police what liquids are actually in the Fruit Shoot bottles, and I have no intention of telling them not to leave them within toddler reach. They shall however be strictly briefed to be nice to the dogs and wait to be introduced before interacting with any.

CheerfulYank · 09/08/2017 07:53

Sounds delightful Fenella :o

I've got a skittish bearded dragon to bring to this thing. He's fairly well behaved but will need mustard greens, larvae, and a lukewarm bath every so often.

Teutonic · 09/08/2017 08:03

What about the animals though AuntyStella? 😀

AuntieStella · 09/08/2017 08:06

One teen is still going through an insanitary phase, so they could either run away or treat him as prey/carrion.

That teen could, I suppose, be briefed to keep offering Pombears Toddzilla and to stand really close to her all the time

MrsC2009 · 09/08/2017 08:45

Ginuree how did you know? My party trick is to put a condominium on my head and inflate it to epic proportions! Kids love it.
I look like a spaceman apparently...

DooRight · 09/08/2017 08:46

Is she still (secretly) planning on bringing DD & DP..? placemarking

MrsC2009 · 09/08/2017 08:46

Condom!! Not condominium. That would be some trick

T00much · 09/08/2017 08:47

this is hilarious. I think she will still turn up with "baby".
I pity the person sharing a room with her. Do they know each other?
