Toddzilla Thread 2 - No Toddlers at the hen do please!

Second thread set up as demanded by the Mumsnet hen do menagerie :)

Original thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2998359-AIBU-You-dont-bring-a-toddler-to-a-hen-do?

Quick summary:
Organising friend's hen do. All booked and paid for, sorted. Two weeks prior a friend attending, hereby known as Demanding Woman, tells me she will be bringing her toddler and DP along as toddler has tantrums that DP can't handle and won't sleep without her there. She will also require a private room now in the converted barn we are staying in, despite everyone agreeing to share etc.

A whatsapp exchange ensues with myself declaring that no this will no be happening and Demanding Woman getting very shirty. Demanding Woman takes it to bride who also shuts it down. So far Demanding Woman is still attending hen do in less than two weeks but is now trying to take control of hen do in terms of games/food/drink etc.

We now have a whole minibus of Mumsnetters, Toddlers, Toddler-eating-dogs, Elephants, hamsters, moody teenagers all planning to attend with boxes of popcorn to take over barn and avidly watch my first meeting with Demanding Woman which I'm definitely not completely and utterly dreading

I'm not sure I will have any further updates for a bit but I promise if there are any further mad details to be had, you will be the first to know.

As you were, Mumsnetters.

Thank you very much for the kind wishes, everyone. Sorry, I didn't mean to distract or derail from the extremely important issues at hand!

LemonRedwood · 19/08/2017 23:48

Jesus H Christ, and I thought I had had several entitled madams at my hen do that I never wanted in the first place and only went along with to make certain people happy but she really has outdone anything I could have imagined. How on earth could she have thought turning up with DP and toddler in tow would be ok after everything? Just deluded beyond belief.

Rachel0Greep · 19/08/2017 23:55

I'm intrigued by the fact that the husband went along with it! Anyway, OP, fab update Grin.

JulietNeverMetRomeo · 20/08/2017 08:52

WTAF is wrong with people??? Hope the rest of the weekend was fun.

Zaphodsotherhead · 20/08/2017 09:18

I guess DW is just the type who convinces themselves that everyone else is Being Unreasonable and when they turn up (toddler and all) everyone will realise just HOW unreasonable they'd been. Toddler would be doted on, DH would fit right in, and nobody would know what all the fuss had been about.

Back to my knitting. Those lemons won't suck themselves.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 20/08/2017 09:20

The OP is utterly unreasonable to have SLEPT THROUGH all the drama.
Have you no respect for us? Could you not have set up some hidden cameras?

Ceto · 20/08/2017 09:23

Not sure I feel that sorry for the husband. Surely once he realised he and toddler weren't meant to be there it would have been logical to insist either on going straight home (toddler could nap in the car, after all) or going to a B&B or similar? And why would he just go along with commandeering the bride's room?

IHateMorningSickness · 20/08/2017 09:33

DW's husband must be the most mind-numbingly stupidest person ever, or he is in a very controlling relationship

MachineBee · 20/08/2017 09:40

Although you are convinced DW won't come to wedding, I think BTB may need to, at the very least, send a signed for official letter making it clear she is no longer invited to the wedding, possibly with a copy to her husband. Given that it was made very clear she was not to bring toddler and hubby she still did it.

Spadequeen · 20/08/2017 09:48

Omfg!!!!!

That's one hell of an update!

I take it this is already in classics!

Mix56 · 20/08/2017 10:01

Of course she" must" show up at the wedding with her precious child...
this needs nipping in the bud, if not there will be a show down on the day, & the Bride's wedding will be derailed.

She will also want a refund.

ChevalierTialys · 20/08/2017 10:06

And why would he just go along with commandeering the bride's room?

@Ceto my thoughts exactly. After the row in the car park, which he was present for, why on earth would he think it still ok to stay? and to take someone else's room?

His DP is clearly bonkers. I wonder if he just goes along with things for an easy life rather than standing up to her.

MetalMidget · 20/08/2017 10:09

Think it's safe to say she won't be coming to the wedding.

Wouldn't be so sure of that! :D

I'm on a hen do this weekend. Just gabe bride a rundown of fred then read out update. She is ShockShockShock

Ours has been really chill and fun!

Trb17 · 20/08/2017 10:47

MetalMidget that gif was my face when I read the update Grin

SugaredSocks · 20/08/2017 11:36

Oh my stars. I can't believe her brass neck and then to try and blame you as if it would have been fine if it wasn't for you. Hope the rest of the hen do goes/went smoothly and I'm keeping my eyes peeled for the wedding update as she's clearly not above turning up there and installing dc as a bridesmaid or something equally as mad.

Superheroessidekick · 20/08/2017 12:37

We 100% need a Batshit Crazy Demanding Woman wedding thread Grin

WhatchaMaCalllit · 20/08/2017 13:50

WhyHas - I simply cannot believe that DW thought, following all of the texts and messages that were going back and forth between all of the hens for this weekend, that it was sorted for her, her DH/DP (not sure which he is), and DC to rock up on this HEN weekend. Beggars belief!!!

I hope the rest of the hen weekend is going well. Please try and find out what was said/done while you were crashed out asleep between this deranged woman and the B2B.

I was reading this with my chin after hitting the floor, completely aghast!

SnugglySnerd · 20/08/2017 14:22

Yes please let us know if she turns up to the wedding.

Willow2017 · 20/08/2017 14:30

Can't get my head around a man thinking him and a toddler would be welcome at a hen night?

He is either thick or henpecked!

PinkSnowAndStars · 20/08/2017 14:54

Best update ever!! Has she been in contact or sent any snotty messages since she left??!!

AtHomeDadGlos · 20/08/2017 15:01

I feel sorry for her husband. Poor bloke.

MachineBee · 20/08/2017 15:22

I don't. He needs to grow a pair.

CaveMum · 20/08/2017 15:35

Definitely best update for ever! Poor bride, and poor you OP. Fingers crossed the rest of your weekend has been batshit-free!

SabineUndine · 20/08/2017 15:45

Bloody hell. Do we have proof that DW is not Workzilla?
