Toddzilla Thread 2 - No Toddlers at the hen do please!

Second thread set up as demanded by the Mumsnet hen do menagerie :)

Original thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2998359-AIBU-You-dont-bring-a-toddler-to-a-hen-do?

Quick summary:
Organising friend's hen do. All booked and paid for, sorted. Two weeks prior a friend attending, hereby known as Demanding Woman, tells me she will be bringing her toddler and DP along as toddler has tantrums that DP can't handle and won't sleep without her there. She will also require a private room now in the converted barn we are staying in, despite everyone agreeing to share etc.

A whatsapp exchange ensues with myself declaring that no this will no be happening and Demanding Woman getting very shirty. Demanding Woman takes it to bride who also shuts it down. So far Demanding Woman is still attending hen do in less than two weeks but is now trying to take control of hen do in terms of games/food/drink etc.

We now have a whole minibus of Mumsnetters, Toddlers, Toddler-eating-dogs, Elephants, hamsters, moody teenagers all planning to attend with boxes of popcorn to take over barn and avidly watch my first meeting with Demanding Woman which I'm definitely not completely and utterly dreading

I'm not sure I will have any further updates for a bit but I promise if there are any further mad details to be had, you will be the first to know.

As you were, Mumsnetters.

Ah, you must have common fleas @milliemolliemou - bless. My fleas - which I'll bring whenever I feel like it, as they're very sensitive - only eat if there's a high ABV involving gin, kale and sashimi. Oh and one is gluten-free.

But they will sleep anywhere and everywhere. Grin

Ginburee · 19/08/2017 15:16

She must have messaged someone, OP what's going on??

whyhastherumgone · 19/08/2017 16:37

Sorry for leaving you all hanging! But i do have the MOTHER of all updates.

Firstly, it's the scavi and ray alcohol free prosecco to everyone asking it's lovely.

Okay so update. Truly truly bonkers.

We go out for dinner as planned last night, everyone knew the details beforehand apart from bride. Bride gets a phone call halfway through dinner. It's Demanding Woman of course, she's back at the barn demanding to know where we are as she can't get in.

Apparently she had an emergency so had to drive down later. Fair enough but why she couldn't let anyone know I have no idea.
Demanding Woman wants us to come back to let her in. Bride refuses and tells her she will have to come and get the keys from us.
Demanding Woman huffs but agrees.

When she turns up she comes into the restaurant and says a brief but impatient hello and asks for the keys. Bit of chit chat then bride suggests she will walk Demanding Woman out to car. Demanding Woman poo poos this. Bride gives me a look and we are both thinking the same thing - has she got toddler and DP in car??

She HAD. Bride discovers this on going out to car and has a fit. Demanding Woman's DP is baffled as thought it had all been cleared and okay. Demanding Woman has the keys and gets in the car and apparently says well they've driven a long way toddler needs a nap so we will go back to barn and they will be gone by the time you all get back.

Bride not happy but couldn't do much else so agrees.

When we get back we all sit up for a bit playing games and generally being idiots. Demanding Woman nowhere to be seen.

Long and short of it is Demanding Woman was upstairs in one of the rooms asleep along with DP and toddler. Bride discovered this (it was her room!) and goes mad, wakes them all up and tries to make them leave. Demanding woman goes mad at her for waking toddler - big argument ensues. Unfortunately I was asleep with ear plugs in at this point as I am pathetically tired at the moment so missed the details. But basically Demanding Woman and family stayed over night.

This morning bride made them leave. Another big argument while we were all sheepishly lurking about - Demanding woman finishes by pointing at me and says "this is all her fault!" before storming off.

Think it's safe to say she won't be coming to the wedding.

I think it's also safe to say she is completely mad.

Luckily bride is having a fab time now and we have all decided it's the stuff of legends and best hen do ever.

You're welcome.

TicketyBoo83 · 19/08/2017 16:51

CHEEKY SELFISH FUCKER!!!

Amazing update but I'm furious on your (and the bride's) behalf. I hope the bride never speaks to that cow ever again.

whyhastherumgone · 19/08/2017 16:51

To be honest it was pretty awful at the time! Bride was so so cross. But is already seeing the funny side.

Bet she asks for some of her money back!!

Ontheboardwalk · 19/08/2017 16:51

What the actual fuck! Glad the bride is having a fab time despite demanding woman.

Cleanermaidcook · 19/08/2017 16:52

Just. Wow!

GrannyD57 · 19/08/2017 16:53

What was DW's DP doing whilst all this was going on this morning? Remind us how DW and bride came to be friends!

whyhastherumgone · 19/08/2017 16:56

He stayed upstairs out of the way and was apologetic on the way out. I think they are childhood friends maybe? To be honest not sure I just know theyve known each other a good while.
