Toddzilla Thread 2 - No Toddlers at the hen do please!

whyhastherumgone · 08/08/2017 09:33

Second thread set up as demanded by the Mumsnet hen do menagerie :)

Original thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2998359-AIBU-You-dont-bring-a-toddler-to-a-hen-do?

Quick summary:
Organising friend's hen do. All booked and paid for, sorted. Two weeks prior a friend attending, hereby known as Demanding Woman, tells me she will be bringing her toddler and DP along as toddler has tantrums that DP can't handle and won't sleep without her there. She will also require a private room now in the converted barn we are staying in, despite everyone agreeing to share etc.

A whatsapp exchange ensues with myself declaring that no this will no be happening and Demanding Woman getting very shirty. Demanding Woman takes it to bride who also shuts it down. So far Demanding Woman is still attending hen do in less than two weeks but is now trying to take control of hen do in terms of games/food/drink etc.

We now have a whole minibus of Mumsnetters, Toddlers, Toddler-eating-dogs, Elephants, hamsters, moody teenagers all planning to attend with boxes of popcorn to take over barn and avidly watch my first meeting with Demanding Woman which I'm definitely not completely and utterly dreading

I'm not sure I will have any further updates for a bit but I promise if there are any further mad details to be had, you will be the first to know.

As you were, Mumsnetters.

I'm with Breakfast, where do you get this alcohol free prosecco?!

Rachel0Greep · 18/08/2017 17:27

Have a brilliant time! Wine (alcohol free, I promise, just for you, OP).

Aeroflotgirl · 18/08/2017 17:34

Mabey bride is secretly pleased that she is not there, as she would have ruined the atmosphere. Mabey she might not even come to the wedding.

Wizzywoodoodah · 18/08/2017 17:50

Hope you all have a fabulous time. I couldn't organise breakfast when I was in the 1st trimester, you deserve a drama-free break without the silly mare and her demands. Chin chin!

DartmoorDoughnut · 18/08/2017 18:03

Have a fab time!

Mummyoflittledragon · 18/08/2017 18:14

Oh dear, didums didn't turn up Sad Sad

gunsandbanjos · 18/08/2017 18:15

I'm so disappointed she hasn't turned up!

Not letting anyone know is (a) fucking rude and (b) a bit attention seeking.

Bet she hoped people would be all worried and fawning over her.

Superheroessidekick · 18/08/2017 18:36

Oo wonder if she will come to the wedding

MadMags · 18/08/2017 18:36

Bet she had no intention of going when her family holiday was scuppered.

Do not refund her money!!!

SnugglySnerd · 18/08/2017 19:03

When I was pregnant I found Sainsbury's alcohol free fizz quite acceptable for those asking. With the added bonus of costing only about 3 quid a bottle!

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 18/08/2017 19:08

Helpful info:

Decent alcohol-free prosecco equiv: Scavi & Ray, 'Alcohol-free Sparkling'.

Was gift, so no idea of price. Really nice, though. Smile

(it's not, vitally, way too sweet...like most I've tried ).

milliemolliemou · 18/08/2017 19:17

Leave it a bit to make sure she hasn't made her own way with DH and clingy DC.

If she doesn't turn up, await the rest of us with our fleas, horses, toddler-eating dogs (was there a llama) elephants and someone's whole Class 1 and all our moody teenagers.

I am just packing a toad and a terrier.

Remember all our eating requirements. I believe the fleas will eat everyone.

Enjoy!

Starlight2345 · 18/08/2017 20:16

PLace marking..

bangingmyheadoffabrickwall · 18/08/2017 20:25

No!!!!! It may be drama free this weekend but there surely will be drama on your return when the 'drama queen' eventually communicates with the bride etc.

But to be frank, I don't think drama queen will even show up at the wedding - how can you possibly show your face as though nothing has happened when you did a 'no-show' plus didn't respond to calls or texts?

pulls up armchair for the forseeable future

InspMorse · 18/08/2017 20:31

The no-show/no phone call is worrying... although if something awful had happened, her DH would have contacted you to let you know that she wouldn't be coming surely?
Has anyone actually messaged her OP?

InspMorse · 18/08/2017 20:32

'Messaged her DP' - that should read...

InspMorse · 18/08/2017 20:33

Or DH even!

Confused !!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 18/08/2017 21:05

The hen do must be going well....
Hopefully we'll have an update about half past eleven tomorrow morning!

ChevalierTialys · 18/08/2017 22:03

Hope you're all having a brilliant night OP

mummabubs · 18/08/2017 22:04

Wow, and after all the trying to take over the games too! Can I just ask on a tangent @whyhastherumgone what is the alcohol-free prosecco that you've discovered? I'm 33 weeks and have been searching for a good substitute the whole way through and the closest I've come is Echo Falls but even that isn't exactly amazing!

silkybear · 18/08/2017 22:18

Sainsburys do a good alcohol free red wine as well, worth experimenting. Bet you are relieved she is not there with a mardy face on all weekend. I have visions of you going for a meal tonight and her, her Dh and toddler sitting on the next table blanking you Grin.

ASongOfRiceAndPeas · 18/08/2017 23:36

Please keep us updated OP
Have a brilliant weekend

6079SmithW · 19/08/2017 01:05

Hope you're having a fab weekend OP
Place marking ready for next update Smile

3luckystars · 19/08/2017 01:17

Maybe she accidentally got her weekends mixed up.

She sounds like she is acting very strangely. Do you think she is ok?
her friendship with the bride might be over after this.

I hope you have a great weekend though!

maggienolia · 19/08/2017 07:41

Hope you remembered to plug in Cryogenically Frozen Grandma or she will be defrosting nicely by now.
(She could have shared a room with Demanding Woman - they would get on famously ).
