Second thread set up as demanded by the Mumsnet hen do menagerie :)

Original thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2998359-AIBU-You-dont-bring-a-toddler-to-a-hen-do?

Quick summary:
Organising friend's hen do. All booked and paid for, sorted. Two weeks prior a friend attending, hereby known as Demanding Woman, tells me she will be bringing her toddler and DP along as toddler has tantrums that DP can't handle and won't sleep without her there. She will also require a private room now in the converted barn we are staying in, despite everyone agreeing to share etc.

A whatsapp exchange ensues with myself declaring that no this will no be happening and Demanding Woman getting very shirty. Demanding Woman takes it to bride who also shuts it down. So far Demanding Woman is still attending hen do in less than two weeks but is now trying to take control of hen do in terms of games/food/drink etc.

We now have a whole minibus of Mumsnetters, Toddlers, Toddler-eating-dogs, Elephants, hamsters, moody teenagers all planning to attend with boxes of popcorn to take over barn and avidly watch my first meeting with Demanding Woman which I'm definitely not completely and utterly dreading

I'm not sure I will have any further updates for a bit but I promise if there are any further mad details to be had, you will be the first to know.

As you were, Mumsnetters.

Her giving the 'silent treatment' by not answering her phone is a way to put a damper on the do.

She wants everyone to be thinking and talking about her and her absence rather than concentrating on having fun.

RuggerHug · 18/08/2017 13:40

Or....her DH is driving them all up after the toddlers nap?

stirs the shit some moreGrin
I hope not OP but I wouldn't put anything past her.

NerosFiddle · 18/08/2017 13:42

You just know she'll ask to be refunded for whatever she has paid so far.

Aeroflotgirl · 18/08/2017 13:44

Good, I hope she does not turn up. Shes throwing a strop, leave her to it and have a great time Smile.

acatcalledjohn · 18/08/2017 13:52

Well, demanding woman not turning up will leave a bedroom for me. I will turn up tomorrow sometime and expect a bed that has not been slept in.

Oh, and I come with three cats and their litter tray will be in the living room.

Have you stocked up on crystal? I cannot stomach the nasty cheap champagnes.

See you tomorrow!

Only1scoop · 18/08/2017 13:54

Did wonder if she'd do just that

Awful and for BTB

Look at it as a bonus and have a great time

Rossigigi · 18/08/2017 14:11

Hope you all have a fab time OP! Glad you found some 'fizz'.
Don't spend too much time wondering about DW that's probably what she wants.

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 18/08/2017 14:28

Am just loading up the horse box - see you soon! X

SnugglySnerd · 18/08/2017 15:45

I was just wondering how it was going. Can't believe she's not turned up and not phoned/texted. How rude! Hope the rest of you have a great weekend.

Superheroessidekick · 18/08/2017 16:09

Any news from DW? Has she turned up with DH and toddler and unpacked a car load of toddler kit to baby-proof the house?

Leeds2 · 18/08/2017 16:11

Make sure you/the bride upload lots of happy photos on FB, just to make sure she knows that she hasn't ruined everything.

MadamePomfrey · 18/08/2017 16:13

She won't just show up she will message the bride privately to explain whatever drama has gone on and try and guilt her into agree to them all coming just for the last night she would hate to miss out! Either way I'd be expecting a request for a refund coming your way!

RhinoGirl · 18/08/2017 16:18

Enjoy the weekend OP :)

Allthebestnamesareused · 18/08/2017 16:22

Has she paid up her share?

Be prepared for them all to tip up!

Be prepared to send them away!

She is probably waiting for all the "Are you alright?" texts. Don't feed the beast!

ShesNoNormanPace · 18/08/2017 16:24

Aww. Poor you lot not being able to play her classy games Grin

whyhastherumgone · 18/08/2017 16:50

Nothing yet! We are all getting ready for dinner now and still no sign or no word. Bride was a little worried at first but is now enjoying herself and not giving it much thought which is good - especially if it's designed to make us worry or think about her.

Looks like this thread might be drama free from now on....

MipMipMip · 18/08/2017 16:51

Get ready for her to demand her money back.

aaaaargghhhhelpme · 18/08/2017 16:54

Glad brides not letting it get to her. It's so attention seeking to not reply to anything.

Fingers crossed for a chilled and stress free weekend. And yay for the alcohol free prosecco! Wine

janthea · 18/08/2017 16:54

Have a wonderful party.

Rainatnight · 18/08/2017 16:55

Ooh, passive aggressive.

WizardLizard · 18/08/2017 16:56

I second posting lots of pictures on FB showing what an amazing time you're having!

Rainatnight · 18/08/2017 16:58

Do you think she'll do lots of Facebook posting this weekend?

Chatoyant · 18/08/2017 16:59

I hope she's already paid for her place?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 18/08/2017 17:01

More importantly, what's the alcohol-free prosecco that doesn't taste like shite?

C0untDucku1a · 18/08/2017 17:16

Or rainatnight you find out who your friends are when you have a baby #nocompromise #toddlersnotallowed #wrongpriorities Grin
