Toddzilla Thread 2 - No Toddlers at the hen do please!

whyhastherumgone · 08/08/2017 09:33

Second thread set up as demanded by the Mumsnet hen do menagerie :)

Original thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2998359-AIBU-You-dont-bring-a-toddler-to-a-hen-do?

Quick summary:
Organising friend's hen do. All booked and paid for, sorted. Two weeks prior a friend attending, hereby known as Demanding Woman, tells me she will be bringing her toddler and DP along as toddler has tantrums that DP can't handle and won't sleep without her there. She will also require a private room now in the converted barn we are staying in, despite everyone agreeing to share etc.

A whatsapp exchange ensues with myself declaring that no this will no be happening and Demanding Woman getting very shirty. Demanding Woman takes it to bride who also shuts it down. So far Demanding Woman is still attending hen do in less than two weeks but is now trying to take control of hen do in terms of games/food/drink etc.

We now have a whole minibus of Mumsnetters, Toddlers, Toddler-eating-dogs, Elephants, hamsters, moody teenagers all planning to attend with boxes of popcorn to take over barn and avidly watch my first meeting with Demanding Woman which I'm definitely not completely and utterly dreading

I'm not sure I will have any further updates for a bit but I promise if there are any further mad details to be had, you will be the first to know.

As you were, Mumsnetters.

I think you are a normal mum @thedementedpenguin or one of the majority at least before anyone gets offended!

I can't see that she will bring toddler after having such a clear no... i really really hope she doesn't, i'm already half dreading meeting her as it is!

Is she afraid of her husband? Very weird behaviour...

whyhastherumgone · 17/08/2017 09:22

@c0unt i don't know her well enough to make a judgement but the bride has know her for quite a while and from what she has said it sounds like Demanding Woman is demanding in every aspect of her life and that she definitely wears the trousers where her husband is concerned...

Nobody knows what truly goes on behind closed doors though I suppose

god that sounds hard work!

whyhastherumgone · 17/08/2017 10:18

Well we've just had a last minute drop out [not Demanding Woman sadly] so there's plenty of room for Mumsnetters and their menagerie...

Oh lovely. There is room for the husband and toddler to come then Grin

whyhastherumgone · 17/08/2017 11:31

@whinesalot there most definitely is not! Will keep it quiet though just incase

Whinesalot · 17/08/2017 11:41

She's probably keeping it quiet that now she's bringing him. After all when it's a fait accompli...

LazySusan11 · 17/08/2017 11:52

Can we change the venue it doesn't work for me, it's too far and I need to get back to dh and dcat before 2pm the next day. Also I am not comfortable with drunk people so if we could make it a non alcoholic doo that would work better for me. See you all soon!

GinAndToast · 17/08/2017 12:53

I bet she tries to bring partner and toddler now. After all, there's space!

TieGrr · 17/08/2017 13:23

Can I send my DD and OH along for the weekend? Will give me a chance to have a lie in and a catch up on some reading and crafting.

IHateMorningSickness · 17/08/2017 14:02

Ooooh I'd love to be there when DW realises there's a dropout!

2017SoFarSoGood · 17/08/2017 15:37

OP just a note to say how excited we are. Also spotty. Three of DC have Chicken pox but the rest of us are fine so far. Glad to see we are not the only ones bringing our little hair lodgers. If you could make sure we have lots of oatmeal, calamine and several nit combs we will be good to go Grin

ItsNachoCheese · 17/08/2017 15:53

Hurrah for this thread to keep me sane when i have a vomiting and spot covered ds

whyhastherumgone · 17/08/2017 17:24

I'm hoping she won't realise until she actually arrives - it's not on the group chat and I'm trying to keep it that way!

KarenW · 17/08/2017 17:37

sounds like she is unhinged, just entitled beyond belief!

drspouse · 17/08/2017 20:11

Good luck with keeping it quiet!

Cagliostro · 17/08/2017 20:22

Not long now! :o

treacletoffee23 · 17/08/2017 20:32

No one has mentioned toilet facilities. I refuse to botty burp in front of others and consequently require my own private ensuite with supply of scented andrex.

Zaphodsotherhead · 17/08/2017 20:38

I am old and absent minded and also extremely judgemental and...I forget the other things I am, but anyway, I'm coming, just so I can sit and knit at everyone, with pursed lips.

I've got my own lemon to suck and everything. But I will probably forget it, so if you can lay on a supply of regular lemons. And more wool.

FrogsSitonLogs · 17/08/2017 20:38

I'm definitely bringing my 3 year old, we are potty training. It will add to the fun.

whyhastherumgone · 17/08/2017 21:11

Well i'm all packed, how are you guys getting on?

OP posts:
dogsdieinhotcars · 17/08/2017 22:09

Lovely ta! Bikini and sarong for me and hula skirts for the guinea pigs. Can't wait!

Wizzywoodoodah · 17/08/2017 22:15

We're all packed- thanks for asking, though I did think you'd be popping round to pack for us. Do you have any spare eye masks for the dc and the 3 cats please? I can't have them eyeing up the stripper's Crown Jewels.

FrogsSitonLogs · 17/08/2017 22:57

We are almost packed, the children are packing all their toys.
