Toddzilla Thread 2 - No Toddlers at the hen do please!

Second thread set up as demanded by the Mumsnet hen do menagerie :)

Original thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2998359-AIBU-You-dont-bring-a-toddler-to-a-hen-do?

Quick summary:
Organising friend's hen do. All booked and paid for, sorted. Two weeks prior a friend attending, hereby known as Demanding Woman, tells me she will be bringing her toddler and DP along as toddler has tantrums that DP can't handle and won't sleep without her there. She will also require a private room now in the converted barn we are staying in, despite everyone agreeing to share etc.

A whatsapp exchange ensues with myself declaring that no this will no be happening and Demanding Woman getting very shirty. Demanding Woman takes it to bride who also shuts it down. So far Demanding Woman is still attending hen do in less than two weeks but is now trying to take control of hen do in terms of games/food/drink etc.

We now have a whole minibus of Mumsnetters, Toddlers, Toddler-eating-dogs, Elephants, hamsters, moody teenagers all planning to attend with boxes of popcorn to take over barn and avidly watch my first meeting with Demanding Woman which I'm definitely not completely and utterly dreading

I'm not sure I will have any further updates for a bit but I promise if there are any further mad details to be had, you will be the first to know.

As you were, Mumsnetters.

You didn't mention the pony and she is very discombobulated and hopes the stable is ready...

Dd (9) loves riding. She'll be in her element with ponies around.

ittooshallpass · 14/08/2017 07:12

I can be ready for 1pm. My friend is over from Spain at the moment, so she'll be coming too. Lovely girl, but her English isn't great. I know you'll all be more than happy to speak Spanish only all weekend so she doesn't feel left out. Can't wait!

InspMorse · 14/08/2017 08:27

I'll be there OP! I'll have to bring the little ones though . You won't know they're there honestly xxx

MrWriter · 14/08/2017 12:56

Oh thank goodness I haven't missed it!
Just to confirm numbers, there will be me, dd, ds, 2 x goats and 1 x sheep. The goats are quite fussy so if you could get them a room of their own that would be fantastic, I'm sure the bride to be wont mind sleeping outside.

2017SoFarSoGood · 14/08/2017 15:28

Well hell Puzzled now I can't come. Unless I get another barn in another town and everyone comes to be with me because why wouldn't they? OK OP?

thank you MN for the warning on the pic.

KirstyLaura · 14/08/2017 16:21

Sooo guess how I just spent my lazy afternoon Grin Awaiting hen do / crazy lady update!

Mouse510 · 14/08/2017 21:33

I'm in a few parent/mum groups on Facebook and in one of them I've just seen someone post this in response to a query someone posted

"Is there an option to take her with you? I took my daughter on a hen weekend recently we stayed in a converted barn with a hot tub etc. My friend really wanted me there (I'm bridesmaid)."

Is this the same person? Or just a crazy coincidence?

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 14/08/2017 21:34

Morse is the one in the top right hand corner called Damien?

Rossigigi · 14/08/2017 23:00

squealia I believe our petd will get along amazingly well,
Live insects no problem I will just provide an adequate supply of greens.
These will also be used for my rabbit who is super excited to be attending!

waitforitfdear · 14/08/2017 23:06

Oh brilliant loved the last thread. We are all ready op. My teens my dogs and cats and the toddler grandson also my elderly parents.

TennisAtXmas · 14/08/2017 23:12

I appreciate the gallery may be a bit full now OP, but I think you owe it to us to wear a headcam and film the whole thing, so those who can't attend (because we don't have a toddler, cat, or goat to bring along...), can enjoy it at a distance...:-)

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/08/2017 02:29

Not long now........

ReanimatedSGB · 16/08/2017 04:03

DS and I will be there. We may also be bringing extra guests with us by way of a special treat for the lucky ones - raging headlice (fucking yet again)

Hoppinggreen · 16/08/2017 13:32

I can't believe how reasonable and accommodating you are all - telling OP when you will arrive, who/what you are bringing and what your requirements are
Personally I may or may not come, I will bring as many children and/or animals as I see fit and you will have to guess my ( very complicated) requirements . I will however unleash hell if you get any of it even slightly wrong
Looking forward to it ( or am I?)

AragornsManlyStubble · 16/08/2017 14:00

Very exciting!

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/08/2017 18:48

We haven't heard from op since Friday. Does anyone have the address?

TriniRedVelvet · 16/08/2017 22:52

Weekend is near.... getting really excited and the dguinea pigs are wheeking themselves into a frenzy!!!!!

StaplesCorner · 16/08/2017 23:01

Look! Look at what Mouse510 said on Monday? Is it?! Could it be?!

I'm in a few parent/mum groups on Facebook and in one of them I've just seen someone post this in response to a query someone posted;

whyhastherumgone · 16/08/2017 23:35

Hello! Sorry this thread dropped off my 'i'm on' because my laziness with updates. So far, with one day to go, everything seems to be calm. No more issues or suggestions of bringing toddlers so I'm feeling dare I say it quietly confident. We shall see.

Transport will bring you to: The Barn, Best Hen Do Ever, England.

I will see you there - obviously I'll be getting there earlier than you to roll out the red carpet...

OP posts:
whyhastherumgone · 16/08/2017 23:36

ooh @staplescorner that's uncanny! But our hen do isn't til Friday! Unless it's the same woman and she's already pulled the 'bringing the toddler' trick before, hence why she seemed so confident it wouldn't be a problem...

OP posts:
lborgia · 17/08/2017 01:38

OK, I've stayed away from the previous thread because even the title brought me out in a rash.

I was the bride, 15 years ago, who had to accommodate two toddlers at my hen do. In fact my hen do became an extremely sedate daytime activity (suitable for toddlers ) and a lovely evening at a friends house, so the toddlers could fall asleep andwe could be finished by 10.30. It was beautiful, everyone went the extra mile, and I felt very loved. But. 15 years later I am still erked (sp?). What I wanted was a big drunken night of dancing and being daft.

If the bride is happy then well ok.

But this has me decided. My 50th WILL be celebrated with a drunk stupid night of dancingGrin

MachineBee · 17/08/2017 08:22

Good for you Iborgia. Sounds like OP has your sort of party planned at the weekend

PovertyJetset · 17/08/2017 08:26

Obvious place marking.

Can't wait for the update!

ThedementedPenguin · 17/08/2017 09:02

Place marking incase DW brings toddler.

I can't imagine why she would want her there. I'm currently organising a hen do for my sister & I cannot wait to leave my kids behind to have some fun. I must be an awful mum
