Been home 5 mins from hairdressers.
Just got a weft in for £350 and don't know what I expected but this just isn't it...
Doesn't it look lank?
What do you think?

tinselcandle

Well that's the point isn't it. You say make the most of what you've got. Many haven't got it. Do I want to llook in the mirror and hate what looks back at me? Should I have to when there's answer in the form of something that has restored my eroded self-esteem and confidence?

Sometimes you need to need to look beyond the end of your nose tinsel and realise that everyone else is not you.

Lindsay28xxxx · 08/08/2017 08:08

Tinsel- I think if something makes you feel good about yourself then why not?
Each to their own?
No my everyone has the same taste in clothes/hair/cosmetic procedures but it's up to the individual.

But we don't live in a vacuum so we? If something makes you feel good at the expense of vulnerable people then maybe you should forgo it?

Coconutspongexo · 08/08/2017 08:42

I don't get why people are concerned with how others are spending their OWN money?

Grilledaubergines · 08/08/2017 08:43

Yes Adalin if it is human hair then it's source needs to be known. (Not all human hair used for extensions has a dubious source). Human hair wouldnt be for me, so I have synthetic, but if human hair were used I'd need to know it's route.

Lindsay28xxxx · 08/08/2017 09:33

I washed it and trimmed the ends ..
Think it looks a bit better

It does look better post-primping OP, but I still think you should get a hairdresser to thin it out a bit. You don't want to have spent all that money on them, only to have to home-job the finishing touches. I also second the curling wand mentions.

thepumpk1neater · 08/08/2017 10:00

Tinsel- I think if something makes you feel good about yourself then why not?

Why not? Let me think... because of the human cost involved in real hair extensions.
It really doesn't look much better I'm afraid. It doesn't look like your own natural hair, which can often be a problem if not done well.

PantPlot · 08/08/2017 10:02

That does look a bit better.

Not £350 quid better, but definitely an improvement!

thepumpk1neater · 08/08/2017 10:03

Plus, you can still see your own hair as kind of layers, but they are tapered.

LetZygonsbeZygones · 08/08/2017 10:05

Tinsel this is not a post about the ethics of human hair extensions. OP posted that she was unhappy with the result of her extensions so if you have no advice or opinion about that, give it a rest eh.

LetZygonsbeZygones · 08/08/2017 10:08

It does look better now you've washed and trimmed the ends. I agree that getting a few layers in and the ends professionally evening up would hopefully give the result you wanted. It just would irk me that you had to pay extra for that after such a hefty initial lay out.

thepumpk1neater · 08/08/2017 10:19

Tinsel this is not a post about the ethics of human hair extensions.

Are you saying we're not allowed to mention it? I hope not.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/08/2017 10:36

It doesn't look great, and please believe me 110%. I'm slagging them off, not you.

£350 for such a shoddy job. They've got to be taking the piss.

The outcome is nothing like the picture, so. Therefore I'd call it false advertising.
Go back and be assertive, and Tell them you're not happy. You've paid enough money

user1485639128 · 08/08/2017 10:46

Surely you must have known that you weren't happy before leaving the salon?

Lindsay28xxxx · 08/08/2017 11:06

I'm not the type of person who can say when I'm not happy.

@Tinselcandle did OP ask for you to preach about what you think of people changing their image? Why does it matter to you if people have extensions, tattoos or tan?

nina2b · 08/08/2017 11:14

I think Tinsel is questioning the ethics of having real human hair stuck to your own. How desperate would someone have to be to sell their own hair and probably receive a pittance in return?

This will always be a factor in any discussion about hair extensions - and rightly so.

nina2b · 08/08/2017 11:14

Tattoos and a tan? Are they really in the same league?

LetZygonsbeZygones · 08/08/2017 11:21

ninab and tinsel.
The provenance and ethics of human hair extensions is a worthy topic. You could start a thread about that. I don't think it's relevant on this thread however.

Aroundtheworldandback · 08/08/2017 11:25

I've just had extensions but paid a whopping £1000 for them. You get what you pay for. They blend in totally with my hair can't see any difference apart from volume.

SuburbanRhonda · 08/08/2017 11:34

And I'm not even a vegetarian.

😆😂😂😂

Bubbington · 08/08/2017 11:57

Not the very worst I have see, however I think all extensions tend to look lank and a bit 'dead'. As it is not natural to the head it is attached to there never seems to be any real movement. Think Rita Simons (Roxy) in East Enders, looked like clumps of acrilic and she probably paid more than £350.00

nina2b · 08/08/2017 12:10

Extensions look "dead" because the hair is dead.

ClamBakeSnake · 08/08/2017 12:26

The idea of wearing someone else's hair makes me feel a bit icky. I used to work in the costume department of a theatre where there were a lot of real wigs and holding them would always make me shudder a bit. Real wigs cost ££££££
