Apparently my husband Dosent and " why would I " Hmm
And the Lords Prayer is " all brainwashing bollox anyway " along with his theory That the christian church and the Catholic church are brainwashing bollox that sacrifice goats
I'm actually very disappointed in him
the Lords Prayer was said in primary school by the majority of primary school pupils right ? It was as commonplace as singing hymns
Admittedly I don't know the WHOLE of the National Anthem but I know the first verse at least
I find his attitude just fucking pig ignorant and down right rude
He's 46 years old for Christ sakes he's not 20 where it's probably not the done thing now

I know neither Blush we did say prayers and sing hymns in my primary school but not the Lord's Prayer.

DonaldStott · 07/08/2017 12:07

I thought he wrote them down on stone and gave them to Noah before flooding the world. Aren't the words literally set in stone?

And then unicorns and rainbows flew from the sky thrown down by am omnipresent man with a white beard who impregnated a virgin Grin Grin

ophiotaurus · 07/08/2017 12:08

I know the Lord's Prayer and the first verse of the national anthem.

zukiecat · 07/08/2017 12:10

TheEmoji You loathe religion but your choice for national anthem would be Jerusalem? A song wondering whether Jesus ever came to England (which even if he was a historical figure seems extremely unlikely). That's a weird choice.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 07/08/2017 12:39

I know nost of the words of national anthem but not the order of verses and i would only know it to follow along listening to it not to sing/recite. Lords prayer i mostly remember as had to recite daily at primary school.

But its completely unreasonable to expect someone to know either let alone both, especially if they arent british christian.

Do YOU know every other countries national anthem and every other religions equivalent of the lords prayer?

Bemusedandpuzzled · 07/08/2017 12:39

William Blake, author of Jerusalem, was not your average CofE Christian! Bear in mind that Blake was on the edges of a really radical print underworld in London, was tried for sedition, and that the song has a strong radical, antiestablishment pedigree.

Somtamthai · 07/08/2017 12:43

TLP - if someone says it then i can recite, as we prayed every Tuesday in primary

National Anthem - Flower of Scotland yes, English one no and not really interested to learn. I also know Scotland the Brave, Auld Lang Syne, plus host of folk songs from Scotland. I can recite Burns poetry.

i also know the Thai anthem, Thai Royal Anthem,

I don't know Rule Britannia nor any folk songs

I am 33 and certainly not-ignorant.

squoosh · 07/08/2017 12:49

I don't know Rule Britannia nor any folk songs

Well you'd better get learning. Once Brexit hits we'll be forced to start each working day with a rousing rendition of Rule Britannia.

strawberrypenguin · 07/08/2017 12:51

I know the Lords Prayer. We used to say it in school assembly (not a religious school) haven't said it for years but still could.
know the first verse of the national anthem and bits of the rest

@emotionalteaspoon Imagining what a kingdom of heaven in England could or would have been, rather than saying that he did! Not exactly uncritical of church or state. As @bemusedandpuzzled points out, Blake was a radical with a fairly ... unique take on Christianity.

'And did the Countenance Divine,
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here,
Among these dark Satanic Mills?'

Always makes me smile when people take it as a patriotic song. And yes I know all the words to it! It's a great tune.

squoosh · 07/08/2017 12:54

Jerusalem is so stirring. GSTQ is just a racket.

CockacidalManiac · 07/08/2017 12:57

Once Brexit hits we'll be forced to start each working day with a rousing rendition of Rule Britannia.

More likely to be 'Tomorrow Belongs To Me'

Lucyccfc · 07/08/2017 12:58

I know the Lord's Prayer as I went to Sunday school, but my DS doesn't as I never sent him to church.

We both know the British national anthem. He has known it since he was 2. He was a mascot for an England football match and was the only child who knew the words and sung it. Some of the other kids were pretty upset with their parents afterwards as they couldn't join in.

zukiecat · 07/08/2017 12:58

Ha Ha squoosh

Travis is good looking enough, but I prefer the long dark hair thing

George Blagden is hot as Louis in Versailles too Grin

zukiecat · 07/08/2017 13:01

Hmmm, I'm not sold on him. He looks like he should be hidden away in an IT department.

Hudson10 · 07/08/2017 13:04

He's 46 years old for Christ sakes he's not 20 where it's probably not the done thing now

What's his age got to do with the price of fish? Does becoming older mean you're automatically supposed to know everything?!
For the record, yes, I can recite all the Lord's Prayer word for word as we used to say it in assembly at primary school.
I know the first few verses of the National Anthem.
I really hate this culture on here of "you didn't know that?! No-one can know everything at all you know.
As Chris Tarrant would say "it's only easy if you know the answer." Smile

Blondefancy · 07/08/2017 13:07

I know the Lord's Prayer..(not a Christian but family are) have no clue what national anthem is 😂 I'm not a big royalist or have that whole 'Proud to be British' watches queens speech mentality..(is that awful??) 🙄

CockacidalManiac · 07/08/2017 13:08

I don't know the words to God Save The Queen beyond 'potential H-bomb'.

zukiecat · 07/08/2017 13:10

Wash your mouth out!

He's gorgeous!

How about Clive Standen as Rollo?
