CFN Thread #9 (Better call Planning)

Okay so I wasn't going to post until I'd had some kind of resolution. However, planning called today to ask if they could access my garden on Friday as they need to do some "further investigation" and have another planning official who will be there to oversee it??

They wouldn't tell me over the phone what it was about (it wasn't Nice Planning Lady, it was someone I hadn't spoken with before)

Thanks pp for the thread title - which coincidentally was very apt!

No sign of CFN/ builders etc.

There's now a sign up saying
NO ENTRY IN TO PRIVATE GARDEN
CONTACT SOLICITORS NAME if you require further information.

I have just found out that Glamorgan has a flag. Here it is:

Hoping the swift appearance of the Lord High Planning Person is a good omen.

I'm tempted to phone in sick so I don't miss any of this.
Unfortunately I need money.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 03/08/2017 07:34

split digraph

Wow! There's posh! Grin

Stillonthatbloodycomputer · 03/08/2017 07:41

justoneday that sounds like a plan, maybe watty can get Ken to open up part of his shop and serve afternoon teas, whilst we all hang around on Friday for head honcho to arrive

UrsulaPandress · 03/08/2017 07:41

Does anyone remember Adrian Dunbar in Hear My Song? That was a fab film.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 03/08/2017 07:44

Are you really a new daddy

He is an old daddy Justone - he claims to be my father. Be warned! In 64 years i haven't had so much as a birthday card! He insists that he has all of his capital tied up so that he can't pay back maintenance. my mam and I were left to struggle in penury while he was swanning off, smooth-talking innocents like yourself - probably he has fathered half of this thread in all 547 countries!

However, it's not up to me to tell you how to live your life . . .

SchadenfreudePersonified · 03/08/2017 07:49

Don't care whether it's jam cream or cream jam

Look - this has been a lovely, friendly thread - don't spoil it now!

If DH (butterless, cream then jam) and I (butter, jam then cream) can live together without open bloodshed, then so can we all.

(It makes me physically ill to see him assemble a scone (skon - short "o") though)

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 03/08/2017 07:55

@BaggypantsCrimpkesnitch sorry no gnome for you this time. I am 'en vacancies' somewhere in France. Mais quelle departement?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 03/08/2017 08:02

they forgot to stick a 'lost cat' poster over the planning notice until the work had commenced

Am now checking under every "Have you seen Tibbles" notice I come across.

"Tirar la casa por la ventana." - I'm sorry Marilyn, but that actually translates as "Tie the suitcase to the air vent".

HOWEVER - Marilyn - that has got to be The Best, but Most Entitled flag in the History of the World. I suspect that the tiny Queendom of Mortificado might steal it.

It's got a Great Bustard on it

If my neighbours were to step out of their bedroom window they would be in my garden. They seem quite nice so don't think they have any plans to annex it, though their cat may soon claim squatters rights.

Hmmmm, the great cream/jam debate.
Well as a Devon Lass originally with a Cornish Mother, I personally put jam on one side, cream on the other then squash it together and eat it sideways. That way it keeps both of us happy. Grin
PS: It's Scon as in 'Its Gone'

There are some mighty purdy flags on here. And yy to Oxford having the best.

Raining here. Might bake later. Scones. Obviously.

OohDammit · 03/08/2017 08:14

Greater London by the way

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 03/08/2017 08:17

Having a lazy breakfast, cup of tea (Yorkshire of course) and a croissant (still slightly warm from the boulangerie) but having caught up I really want a cream tea - which you can't get in France 😭

However when I return to glorious England (I'm travelling tomorrow so will miss the planning people - aaarrgghh 😡) my cream tea will be NO butter, a little jam and then a huge great dollop of clotted cream.

DD had a friend who used to turn his into a SANDWICH (scone half, butter, cream, jam x 2 sandwiched together). I was glad when she got rid of that weirdo 😂.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 03/08/2017 08:27

"Now you truly ready meet sophisticated Lady"

"Good, good" I are trembling like schoolboy! You think she like me, Vanka?"

"What not to like? Smart guy, clean face, jacket - only minor bloodstains, not even yours! She melt into you arms. Hahahahaha"

"Hahahahaha"

"Now, Comrade . . . . Here flowers . . . and here chocolates . . . "

"Excellent! One minute! - They good chocolates? Not that crap from GUM?"

"They bespoke - Beetroot Creams. Also Beetroot Cracknell, Beetroot Fudge, Beetroot Delight, Beetroot Caramel and Beetroot Surprise. Is Finest Occidental Selection."

"You think maybe too much beetroot?"

TheMadGardener · 03/08/2017 08:30

Long time lurker, now caught up with all 9 threads. Incandescent on OP''s behalf and hoping to see downfall of CFNs!

(Also, Cornish, now live just over border in Devon, jam first on scones then cream, and have a crest of Tavistock. I've always wondered why the dangling sheep...

East Sussex lass here. I go for butter, jam then cream. It's the only way.

I hope anyone with an interest in the 6.30 comedy slot on R4 is paying attention to you Schadenfreude. Dead Ringers, at the very least, could do with your scripts Grin.

Cedilla · 03/08/2017 08:37

Hello lovely people

I seem to have appointed myself flag monitor of the Trello board - can I just put in a gentle plea for everyone to say what the flags are when they post them on here? I'm having a lovely time digging up arcane facts, but I'm getting a bit stumped when I can't work out what they are to start with!

Thank you, let the scone debate resume jam then cream for me, please

RiversrunWoodville · 03/08/2017 08:41

Mutters furiously as can't attach flag

MissFitton · 03/08/2017 08:44

Can I say I'm almost as interested in the outcome of the Vlad and Vanka Chronicles as I am in Wattyy's door. Now there's a sentence I never thought I'd type...

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 03/08/2017 08:49

@Cedilla mine was the Charente Maritime. I'm only here until tomorrow though then back to Kent (with huge quantities of wine in the boot so we can have a big party when the CFNs 'get theirs').
