"Feeling blessed".

OP posts:
Kaleidogyn · 05/08/2017 13:19

Posting in infantilised misspelling, for the voice of their pet.

"I iz getting snossages from the hooman"

Fuck the fuckity fuck off. Angry

HighlyUnlikely · 05/08/2017 13:23

I know someone who uses the word 'Golden' to describe people, events, etc. As in "We had a golden time at Alton Towers" or "Have you seen Xs new bubba? She's golden"

WTF? A child is made from a precious metal?

To the woman I used to work with who used "Awesome" to describe EVERYTHING, here's a dictionary, please find a new word.

BertrandRussell · 05/08/2017 13:39

"I know someone who uses the word 'Golden' to describe people, events, etc"

I think that's OK if she's 70 and from the East End........

Hapaxlegomenon · 05/08/2017 14:21

To those who have said they don't like yum/yummy, I'll raise you. When my dad has had a nice meal he says it's yumbo-the-diddle-o. Angry

BendydickCuminsnatch · 05/08/2017 14:28

YUMBO-THE-DIDDLE-O!!!!! Grin amazing, that made me laugh out loud!
Actually, my dad does say 'yum-diddly-umptious', but that doesn't irritate me for some reason. A lot of other things he does do though! :)

Sleepthief84 · 05/08/2017 14:32

I also find the babying of children's names grating when children get older. I have a friend whose child is called Ben. Lovely. However she insists of calling him baby Bennie still. All. The. Time. He is eight. No one else calls him this. It - as another poster said earlier - makes my teeth itch!

Worst thing is, he corrects her when she does it in front of him and she still does it!

Sleepthief84 · 05/08/2017 14:35

Yumbo-the-diddle-oh?

You win the thread!

My DB has a habit of saying 'okely dokely' in the manner of Ned Flanders from The Simpsons. I come over all childish when he does it (we are both in our thirties) and feel the urge to give him a massive Chinese burn or shut him in a cupboard (not that I ever did those things, honest!)

BendydickCuminsnatch · 05/08/2017 14:36

Hate the phrase 'makes my teeth itch' Grin

HorridHenrietta23 · 05/08/2017 14:43

"Go hard or go home"
When describing any type of exercise..... Designed to make anybody who doesn't exercise until they vomit feel inferior. Angry

FrogsSitonLogs · 05/08/2017 15:26

Describing something in your life as going on 'this amazing journey'. Why does everything have to be a journey?

ranoutofusernameideas · 05/08/2017 15:31

Making memories with my favourites #memories #favorites #lovethem #holibobs #myprince #princess #holiday #fun

People only ever referring to their daughter as 'princess' we have a whole generation of spoilt princess growing up now and they will have a shock when they get into the real world and find out they aren't in fact a princess!

ranoutofusernameideas · 05/08/2017 15:32

Also 'boils my piss' sounds awful!

Casmama · 05/08/2017 16:05

I hate the word tribe when used to describe a group of friends especially when it leads to vomit inducingly twee hashtags. If you live communally in a jungle somewhere then fine otherwise it makes me cringe.

supersop60 · 05/08/2017 16:53

I've said it before - little man is slang for clitoris. Just stop it.

Couldashouldawoulda · 05/08/2017 20:00

I agree with all of this. 'Scrummy' also makes me wince...

EarlGreyT · 05/08/2017 20:40

Proud mummy moment. Urgh. This also = smug mother.

Mynewballoon · 05/08/2017 23:05

'Boils my piss' - yy to whoever mentioned that! I always visualise boiling piss and it makes me feel sick! Same with 'grips my shit'. Bleugh!

TreacleFarl · 06/08/2017 09:23

Another one for 'this one' / 'these ones' usually at the end of a twee phrase. Oh and fambam,

'Out with the fambam today to #make memories, that's if these ones don't get up to too much trouble! lol oj #blessed'

It just does something to me Angry I always wonder how the people making these memories stay off social media long enough to actually do so. I shouldn't really comment though, seeing as I'm on MN every day.

Celestia26 · 06/08/2017 09:29

People who share a photo or phrase and put simply the word 'This.' after it. Has to have a full stop too! Irritating as hell!

MarsBarsAreShrinking · 06/08/2017 09:29

I agree with so many of these.

A friend on my FB refers to her twin sons as 'me boys' every time she mentions them - yes, complete with apostrophes on either side of the words. It makes me cringe. I mean, "my" boys would be bad enough but 'me boys' is just ridiculous.

Another one which is quite niche; I'm on some FB groups for designer handbags and they're offered referred to as Mulbaby/Mulbabies (Mulberry) and just as bad, 'she' when discussing them. As in "I got my new Mulbaby today and she is just beautiful". Fuck the fuck off.

nina2b · 06/08/2017 12:33

Mynewballoon

Agreed. These are truly revolting expressions. The former, I see here quite a bit. Ugh

nina2b · 06/08/2017 12:34

I was sat...

nina2b · 06/08/2017 12:35

Bless - used in an attempt to patronise.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 06/08/2017 12:57

People saying they are "aghast" over rrally trivial things. I see it on here quite often "I am aghast that you think it's ok to have a glass of wine with dc in the house"
You're not aghast, you are judgemental.

MissMoneyPlant · 06/08/2017 13:54

My pet hate is "adulting" (from those in their 20s, any older should be a hanging offence!).

As in "been adulting today!" because they've put the laundry on, done a big food shop, and sorted paperwork/paid bills.

I can accept that people might have a weird feeling of "I'm a grown-up now!" if they do something like buy a house in their early-mid 20s, but "adulting" is always applied to mundane stuff they should have been doing for years.
