...to take 4 mo baby on glamping hen do?

TomBowler · 01/08/2017 23:18

I am MoH and bride asked me before I got pregnant but she knew we were TTC. I have offered to step down.

Baby is EBF. I don't pump and haven't tried a bottle. Not totally against it though.

Would be arriving on campsite Fri afternoon. I would boob DD to sleep about 7ish. Deploy video monitor (our group has excl use of campsite and DD and I have own tent). Return to group for silly games.

Saturday morning breakfast and It's A Knockout. Lunch. Saturday afternoon outdoorsy activity I wouldn't be able to do (pelvic floor, say no more) so will chill at campsite. Sat evening boob DD to sleep and Butler In The Buff coming to serve cocktails and not games.

Sun morning breakfast in farm shop.

@anamelikenoother

Grin just noticed the date .. Late to the party...
@anamelikenoother genuine question, please satisfy my curiosity about zombie threads & their resurrection - how did you end up finding this thread and commenting?

how did you even find this thread and why did you ignore the warning about it being an old thread? Confused

If I knew a baby was going on a hen do I would suddenly not be able to make it. It’s very selfish of you to think that it is ok, no matter how good and well behaved the baby is it would change the dynamic.

anamelikenoother · 27/02/2022 18:41

Genuine mistake - sorry folks! In my sleep deprived state I thought I was looking at the active list and not my watching list (which is all very old and clearly needs a tidy up!).

And I don't think I got a notification saying it was over a year old...or I didn't notice it Blush

betwixtlives · 27/02/2022 18:42

Ahhh I always wondered how people managed to revive random zombies

Cavagirl · 27/02/2022 18:49

Ahhhhhhh that explains it!!! I've always wondered!! Smile

Bobbins36 · 27/02/2022 19:05

@TomBowler

Bride is ok with it in theory. But exact detail of hen party is a surprise for her so not sure really.

Baby naps well and chills in sling. But is still a baby and sometimes screams.

Ah fuck.

Gut feeling no. Bail out and offer apologies and treat her to a nice pre wedding lunch? But could you run it by another of the party to gauge opinion?
Foxglovers · 27/02/2022 19:11

I think in reality you’ll have to miss it…however if only 40 mins away you could go and “visit” at a suitable time with the baby? I dunno I would’ve hated doing that…but I’m probably quite stressed out when mine were babies in all honesty. I also wouldn’t have been keen on someone else doing this pre kids…just say you can’t go…visit for an afternoon or something and take friend for lunch another day or something?

Averyproperteaparty · 27/02/2022 19:12

You are totally unreasonable to expect others to put up with a baby on a hen night. The bride is probably just being polite saying she’s alright with it. You’ll ruin everyone’s weekend.

Higgeldypiggeldy35 · 27/02/2022 19:21

Yeah I wouldn't. 4 month sleep regression was horrendous for me. A campsite of people trying to sleep wouldn't have thanked me then!

The baby is nearly five now…. Thread is from 2017
Savingpeoplehuntingthings · 27/02/2022 19:29

Zombie ...

Baby is now coming up for 5.
I wonder if they went

GlimmerGreyGreen · 27/02/2022 19:32

@DingDongDenny

Does anyone else really hate the phrase 'boob baby to sleep'
Yes…pretty gross phrase
Pumasonsatsumas · 27/02/2022 19:33

No way I would leave my baby in another tent, even with a monitor. Just no.

londonrach · 27/02/2022 19:35

Hating boob too... However babies should not be at hen parties ever. Step down

Heronwatcher · 27/02/2022 19:48

No way. Absolutely no way. You’ll have a shit time, the other hens will hate you and the bride will be massively pissed off. Either don’t go, or stay somewhere very nearby with partner/ friend and pop in for the evening event.

EeeICouldRipATissue · 27/02/2022 20:00

I knew I'd seen this thread before Grin
Wonder if she ended up taking the baby?!

LowlandLucky · 27/02/2022 20:13

You would leave your baby in the tent ? Bloody crazy idea

Cutesbabasmummy · 27/02/2022 20:20

We went glamping last August. It was freezing in the tent overnight. Also like others gave said there is no soundproofing in the tents. If your baby decides to scream for an hour at 2am it won't be fun!

iRun2eatCake · 27/02/2022 20:47

@ChicRock

Nobody wants your baby on the hen do, and anyone who says they don't mind is lying.

How can anyone not see the very obvious "this thread hasn't been posted on for a while" message.
CallyfromBlakes7 · 27/02/2022 20:57

Does anyone else really hate the phrase 'boob baby to sleep

Yes - could the OP really not just say "feed". But anyway - it was nearly 5 years ago!

BigupPemberleyMassive · 27/02/2022 20:57

So incredibly selfish.

People have booked an adult weekend and now there's going to be a crying baby.

"My baby never cries." Even if the baby cries for 30 seconds, that sound goes right through you.

And it changes the dynamic. Even though the baby doesn't understand, it feels uncomfortable to play racy hen party games with a young child present.

DPotter · 27/02/2022 21:03

The baby is now 4.5 years old...........

Queeniepies · 27/02/2022 21:18

I wonder if the nearly 5 year old is still 'boobed' to sleep?
