Hi guys! Wow I've just had a chance to come back on and noticed the last thread is full already?!

There also seems to be loads of people saying they're over it and don't believe me. That's fine, I'm not going to get into an argument with anyone. I had no idea that I would get so many responses when I initially asked for advice on this situation, however, they have really cheered me up through what has been a really crappy few days at points. Thanks all.

Sorry if ive pissed people off.

Anyway my Grandma has landed at the airport and should be with me in a couple of hours. It's not even that far away (she likes to take her time) Grin

Speaking of whippets, has anyone seen the Yorkshire Haka, performed by some Lions fans from God's Own County in New Zealand?

It riffed heavily on sterotypes, going something like this, with actions:
Ee by gum!
Ee by gum!
Where's me whippet?
Where's me whippet?
'ow much?
'ow much?
I'll sithee!
I'll sithee!
I'll sithee!

Pretty sure it's not cultural appropriation if you're making fun of stereotypes about your own ethnicity (Yorkshire's an ethnicity, right?)

Thank you Fairfax

I can rest now. Grin

Lweji · 02/08/2017 12:06

No idea how that happened. But you can never have only one of a good thing. Wink

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/08/2017 12:08

Hope Wattyyyy starts Thread 9 soon - evener updates are infrequent, it helps us to bond.

I wonder if anyone has a knitting pattern for a CFB that we can make for our little ones to play with?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/08/2017 12:08

had been thinking of Sheldon, too, Lweji, but I lack your posting skills.

mumof3boys33 · 02/08/2017 12:10

I probably won't be able to find #9 and I'll spend the rest of my life wondering 😂😂

If you're anywhere near South Ayrshire you're welcome to come and pick some up. I made loads!

I think NNDN may have a crush on Whatty
Is this a lovely budding romance? You could knock your flats together and make a fantastic space.Grin
And we could all come to the wedding reception (evening only of course in the best tradition of MN) in the co-joined gardens.

This is my town's flag.

I have made a note of the next thread if we get there so I am shamelessly place marking ( i have commented on another thread honest!!)

I cant believe that there might end up being new next door neighbours. Have you heard anything else from anybody solicitors/pIanning etc? Have you put anything on the door handles themselves? I know you have the bench in front.

How has spangran settled in?

wonder if that was the plan all along.

Has anybody thought of people that could play them??

On the subject of flags, I can be a bit greedy too as per a pp, Surrey for 26 yrs, Nottinghamshire 6yrs and Hampshire for nearly 2yrs

kingsleysbootlicker · 02/08/2017 12:19

Been lurking from the start from Belfast Smile Feel I need to post a flag now

@SchadenfreudePersonified not sure about knitted CFB, but we could make some illusion scarves that spell out a nice message when viewed a certain way.....? Pattern by Sheena Pennell, available on Ravelry Grin

WhatIsThisWatt · 02/08/2017 12:21

I haven't put anything on the door handles, as a few PP's said even if I could legally do it, it'd feel wrong just in case there was some kind of emergency and they couldn't get out because of something I'd done.

SpanGran doing well thanks buffy! She loves a bit of gossip and getting to know the neighbours Grin

veronicat now there's an idea, it would make a lovely big flat and SpanGran could stay forever! Grin

@Housemum that's not a Willy-THIS is a Willy!!

Donttouchthethings · 02/08/2017 12:28

OP, please tell us that you've put up a notice in your garden, facing into the CFN's flat. I would write something like:

No Entry!
Private Property.
This garden is the property of Flat x and you have NO right of entry.

That way, anyone viewing the flat will know the deal straight away.

If you don't have anything like a noticeboard, could you tape it to a large, upturned, plant pot on the bench?

Housemum · 02/08/2017 12:31

@Cupcake99 I can't see your willy! (Not something I ever thought I'd be typing...)

Cupcake99 · 02/08/2017 12:35

@Housemum ooh,I wonder why?? Hang on-I'll try again! And the back story-new school and they all went to a sculpture park. I thought they would get a lecture on art or whatever, but was most amused that the artist was obsessed with bums, boobs and willies! This one was glorious :)

prettybird · 02/08/2017 12:52

Wattyyy - why not ask your lawyer the specific question about whether you can put cable ties around the door handles? You have the right to "quiet enjoyment" of your own garden and to feel safe in it - and if they can access it at any time (including when you are out), then you are not able to do so.

If there were an emergency in the flat, then they would always have the option of smashing the window - which is what they would've had to do anyway with the original (listed Wink) window.

As a minimum, you should have a very clear sign facing into their patio doors on a post/back of the bench/the planters on the bench and/or stuck to the window (probably the former if you don't want to impede the opening of the doors), stating "NO ENTRY. PRIVATE PROPERTY OF FLAT B" iirc you're flat B Sellotape on glass does not cause damage.

WhatIsThisWatt · 02/08/2017 12:58

I had made a sign previously fashioned out of those clear envelope things and tape - the name of them has escaped me Confused

I'm going to print another one one out similar to what donttouch said.

@WhatIsThisWatt I've seen lots of posts telling you how you can get the details from the Land Registry online of who owns the flat and lots more asking you if you've done this but unless I've missed a reply I haven't seen if you've responded to this? Did you try it?

faithinthesound · 02/08/2017 13:03

I don't know what I'm going to do with myself now that these threads won't be around to recap :(
