Hi guys! Wow I've just had a chance to come back on and noticed the last thread is full already?!

There also seems to be loads of people saying they're over it and don't believe me. That's fine, I'm not going to get into an argument with anyone. I had no idea that I would get so many responses when I initially asked for advice on this situation, however, they have really cheered me up through what has been a really crappy few days at points. Thanks all.

Sorry if ive pissed people off.

Anyway my Grandma has landed at the airport and should be with me in a couple of hours. It's not even that far away (she likes to take her time) Grin

{sigh} I don't get people criticising the thread for frivolous posts. If you don't like it, don't read it.

I love it, recipes, songs, flags and everything.

My flag (Sussex) has already been posted. I do think East and West Sussex should have their own though - we are different counties, after all!

Vango · 02/08/2017 08:07

Forever you must be reading a different thread to me? No-one's really been 'slated' for anything. At times, exasperated posters have wondered why anyone would feel the need to come on a thread to criticise other posters - nothing more. But I guess the written word will always be interpreted according to the mindset of the reader.

Foreverhopeful22 · 02/08/2017 08:12

Vango - yes must be,

GaspodeWonderCat · 02/08/2017 08:13

Greetings from Somerset. Yes to trellis (to original window height) and notice on trellis saying PRIVATE garden - keep the fuckkety fuck out. I I would have put bike lock, as pp stated on door, but understand if you do not want to touch them.

These disputes do drag on (sorry) but you have the power of greyskull & mumsnet behind you. So once more unto the breach, dear friends ...

Hmm...

The young couple:

An attempted plant by bored Fail hack, wanting in on the viral action and a few "a source close to..." quotes?

(Alert LoyalFriend and Ken, in case of repeat infiltrators.
What's the Spanish equivalent of "Loose Lips Sink Ships"? Grin ).

Seriously, though, OP, wise advice from knowledgeable PPs, and good you're updating solicitor asap.

Keep up your (really admirable) cool-headed attitude:
You have the officials behind you, as well as us.

Whatever these fuckers seem to come up with shows desperation, legal ignorance or astounding arrogance...

Vango, Schaden, Bore, Ginger,
Lynda Snell needed...she'd be in her absolute element.
And could add llamas.

Vango · 02/08/2017 08:14

I think the most lovely thing about this thread is that it hasn't been de-railed, despite attempts. And no-one's been deleted so no personal attacks. I hope it stays that way.

gingergenius · 02/08/2017 08:16

@LakieLady agreed re: Sussex flag!

Vango · 02/08/2017 08:19

And the other lovely thing....it's of no interest whatsoever to the papers Grin! Woman discovers unauthorised building work in a listed building. Contacts authorities. The End.

Unless they're angling for a human interest story about a supportive community? But why would they bother, considering some of our own poster are telling us how relentlessly boring it all is? Grin

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 02/08/2017 08:21

If I were you OP I would put a sign in your garden re the dispute and I would also put one in your front window/common areas.
Have you spoke to the other residents of the building or just NND?

steppemum · 02/08/2017 08:21

re the YC
Our current neighbours bought the house about 2 years ago, when they were looking they knocked on our door and asked us about the neighbourhood.

Neighbourhood is fine, the builder who converted their place was known for cutting corners and I didn't know how to tell her Sad

Still, they seem happy enough now

Foreverhopeful22 · 02/08/2017 08:22

Vango - I think the most lovely thing about this thread is that it hasn't been de-railed, despite attempts

We are definitely reading different threads out of 8 threads (8000 posts) the OP has probably commented about 50 times max.

Course it's been derailed its all about flags and recipes

Veronicat · 02/08/2017 08:25

Checking in from Ayrshire. We haven't an official flag yet, so have the coat of arms.

Vango · 02/08/2017 08:28

But we're still on-topic Forever. IT hasn't descended into a slanging match, it's no longer filled with full-stop place marks, no-one's been banned/deleted and it's not harming anyone.

gingergenius · 02/08/2017 08:28

@Foreverhopeful22 ....or by some who keep moaning about how boring it all is. Don't like it? Scroll on!

FairfaxAikman · 02/08/2017 08:29

Checking in from NE Fife. We don't have a flag, so here's our coat of arms.

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 02/08/2017 08:29

^^ Absolutely.

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 02/08/2017 08:32

Clarification: my "absolutely" was re Vango's comment.
(but lovely Coat of Arms, NE Fife Smile).

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 02/08/2017 08:41

"The Garden of England" obligatory flag. Hopefully the garden reference won't annoy all the other lovely counties

East Sussex gazes jealously at Kent and sly annexes Sevenoaks while no-one is looking

tiredvommachine · 02/08/2017 08:46

Cambridgeshire flag... looks like a rug 😞

gingergenius · 02/08/2017 08:47

Very fancy @tiredvommachine

WineAndTiramisu · 02/08/2017 08:52

Definitely put a big sign in front of the doors

"This is the private garden of number X, the planning office has issued a cease and desist notice on these doors, move in here at your peril"

wordy17 · 02/08/2017 08:56

ooh I like the word 'peril'

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 02/08/2017 08:57

I think what should get one of those Patlock things to secure the doors from her side, then fix a notice to outside of door explaining Stop and Desist, plus ownership of garden.
And that essential access (for remedial work) can be arranged via her. All requests in writing only. Do not call at her flat.

Vebrithien · 02/08/2017 08:58

Bath here, checking in after a lot of lurking!

Good morning from Glasgow. Whattyy, I know you've been speaking to NNDN but I wonder if popping a note through the other flats' doors just letting them know the basics of the problem might be an idea in case others come looking at the flat? You could always give them a link to the Trello!
