Hi guys! Wow I've just had a chance to come back on and noticed the last thread is full already?!

There also seems to be loads of people saying they're over it and don't believe me. That's fine, I'm not going to get into an argument with anyone. I had no idea that I would get so many responses when I initially asked for advice on this situation, however, they have really cheered me up through what has been a really crappy few days at points. Thanks all.

Sorry if ive pissed people off.

Anyway my Grandma has landed at the airport and should be with me in a couple of hours. It's not even that far away (she likes to take her time)

Sorry, this is a completely pointless post but I have to get it off my chest.

I don't get how people can post here suggesting that everyone stops with songs, recipes, poetry, language lessons , anything irrelevant to the main point.

There are threads on MN that have been going for months, or years.

Sometimes started with a particular problem that isn't instantly solveable, sometimes developing from things people find they have in common.

It's so gloriously obvious that these threads have a) been of great help to OP, and b) cheered a lot of people up for dozens of reasons.

Whenever there has been something practical to address the tone changes and people are rushing to share their expertise, see the last 50 posts or so.

I've been a semi scroller, only really interested in the outcome for OP.
But we're not likely to get that for weeks if not months.

Posting amusing diversions is not going to affect that one way or another.

So, highlight OP posts, scroll through the rest and stop pissing in the garden.

Perhaps Ken can pretend he's interested in buying a flat right across the street from his shop . He can tell them he heard through the grapevine the flat might be for sale.

Totally agree, Bewitched. It takes a special kind of petty to come on to a thread purely to tell people to stop posting on it!

Well the would-be new resident is quite a development. Were they told anything about the issue? If possible tenants, that's going to make things even more complicated because they'll be another party who might need to agree to details of any remedial work. If possible new owners, well buyer beware and all that, hopefully their surveyors would make clear the cost of the work they could legally required to undertake.

Looking ahead, resolving this problem will probably drag on for months . If you want to round up your support crew on here in the future, you could start a thread and namecheck some of them in the first post. If you go (for example) @Whatyyyy they should get an email to say someone has mentioned them on a thread. At least I do.

Then they'll cause enough activity to get the thread up into Trending and the rest of us should be along quickly enough!

How do you make it email you when you get namechecked? I think I might have turned off all the emails by accident, I don't get the round up or anything. I found the round up and fixed that, just can't find the name check one.
