CFN patio doors onto my private garden thread #3

Wattyyyy · 28/07/2017 12:22

Okay I thought I'd start this for when they inevitably show their faces!!

Sorry all the threads have different titles Confused

I have a slight update - I managed to catch the nice neighbour at the other side (I think he'd heard the commotion and was loitering about waiting for me Grin )

He was gobsmacked! Apparently he's lived here for thirty years and has never heard anything like it. I told him I'd keep him updated and he asked if i wanted to come in for a cup of tea, I politely declined hahahah. Glad I now have a nice normal neighbour on my side!

Phew. Been out all day (pesky doctors and cinema having no wifi!) juuuust catching up and saying a massive Thank you wattyyy! Amazing work. And I love your planning people. Glad they sound very serious!

Have a lovely evening in your garden. I hate to be the bearer of serious stuff- but I really would check in with your solicitor on Monday.

But yes plenty and plenty of Gin for tonight

Ps. PARKLIFE is still making me chuckle..!

I'm ridiculously late to the CFN party but can someone puleeeease link the first thread? Smile

Mumzypopz · 28/07/2017 18:01

Anyone know how to bookmark on a mobile phone?

Lomas16 · 28/07/2017 18:01

how do i placemark

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/07/2017 18:01

Why did it have to be me that buys a place with the CFN from hell who seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth

The answer's in the question!

CFNs are obviously Beelzebub and Hecate or some random succubus the Lord of The Damned fancied a dirty weekend with and the flat is built on the Hellmouth.

Ring Buffy.

Debunked all 3 threads are in the 'trending' box.

Slimthistime · 28/07/2017 18:02

verystressed "Can't believe the neighbours are not back, do people really have building work done and just disappear without wanting to see what's been done"

a few people mentioned that they would do this or that it is commonly done. I can't imagine doing that in case anything goes wrong, but particularly in a flat. In a detached house, you might be prepared to come home and say "oh shit" but in a flat, anything you do might impact on others so why would you go away? If it's just decorative work, sure, but not something that involves knocking down a wall?!

Mumsnut · 28/07/2017 18:02

yeah but Penny, if BJ need access via her flat, the OP will at least get regular updates. They can hardly not tell her what they need it for

Rubyslippers7780 · 28/07/2017 18:03

I think the cfn are hiding!! If it was me i would be...

Stuckinstressville · 28/07/2017 18:04

This is making my sodding year.

Can't we contact whoever set up the tiny elderly korean lady agency and hire a few to sit in deckchairs stroking cats and stealing geraniums until the CFN return?

This is so going to end up in the sunday mail.

OnTheRise · 28/07/2017 18:06

We have loved these three threads so much that this afternoon my husband was talking about it when he was out on site.

The first question was, "What's Mumsnet?"

The second question was, "What's the thread called?"

I think we should all be waving at the big blokey types he spent the day with, who were incredulous about the cheekiness of the neighbours, and who all sucked their teeth in horror when my husband revealed that it was a listed building they'd done this to.

One of them told him about some friends of his who bought a listed building very cheaply a few years ago, because its owners were in prison as a result of making changes they shouldn't have made to their listed house.

This has the potential to become very expensive, in all sorts of ways, for both the owner of the flat and the builders who did the work.

ToothTrauma · 28/07/2017 18:06

DH is always asking me if there are any good mumsnet threads at the moment. Can't wait to read this one to him over a Wine when he gets home Grin Cheers OP!

I can't remember who first mentioned some of the 'classics' (of which this should be one) but I stumbled upon this and thought it might be useful for some light relief while OP is awaiting the return of the CFNs: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/636548-A-plate-has-fallen-down-the-back-of-the-loo?pg=1&order=

It is seriously brilliant. Check out the poem at the end! Grin

Aaaaaaand back to thread!

Has your friend arrived yet, OP?
