😱 without a doubt the biggest spider I've seen, when it was on the wall with its legs all spread out it was as big as the cup. I'm dying thinking about where it might have been crawling all night

I was scared shitless but I couldn't leave that beast to roam around my house and risk it eating a child Grin hopefully he doesn't come back.

I live in an old Victorian house that was prone to house spiders.

Haven't seen one in years - not since my son requested a pet tarantula for his birthday. Loved it so much, we now have three (and I'm seriously thinking about no4).

Picture is one of our spiders - she's a Mexican red-knee (definitely not a Mexican house-thief)......

I suppose having a pet tarantula is a bit of a drastic way to rid your house of their smaller cousins Smile

DD was going up to bed the other night and shouted for dp to come and catch a 'spider as big as her face'.

It was on the stairs. Just sitting at the top and it was massive.

Dp is brave, he picks them up in his hand and takes them out to release them.

We also had one in the living room recently, a bit smaller than yours but still big and bloody fast. He caught it and took it outside to throw away. He came back in and said it had gone, then turned round and the fucker was crawling across his back. I was screeching like a 3 year old! So he went back out again and then came back and said I think it's gone now. But the fucker was still there! Roaming over his shoulder.

I had to have brandy to calm me down. Bloody hell.

I'm literally shaking on your behalf OP - that is one helluva spider!!

Sanoffyhighstepson · 28/07/2017 19:04

This will put me, but ah well. I was driving a bus, complete with a shit load of passengers along a large fairly fast rural route in Scotland. Felt an itch. Looked down at my hand and a big spider much like the OP has posted a pic of, was clinging to the back of my hand! I don't mind spiders unless they're on my body. And while steering 13 tons of coach at 40mph there was fuck all I could do except pray it didn't crawl up my sleeve! Found a place to stop and an elderly man kindly grabbed it off my extended hand 😂

BillBrysonsBeard · 28/07/2017 19:24

Now this is a spider to find in your house... Shock

Not for the faint hearted!

I like spiders but that's not a spider! It's a spider/flamingo hybrid (spybrid?)

I used to live next to a banana plantation and got some big hairy fuckers in my house - I used to carefully capture them and release them outside but one persistent bugger kept coming back. Cats were useless and would ignore them Hmm

They were three separate spiders daisy (I think) They were quite timid but really didn't like them hanging out in my house. I've since moved and haven't seen any recently but they were proper beauties. Unlike your freaky cartoon mechanical spider!

Upyourdaisy · 28/07/2017 20:51

Beauty isn't a word I'd use to describe those bigtapdancingpimp especially not the big ugly fucker on the end, looks like he'd chew your face off Grin
I'm getting a bit nervous about going to bed now, it's when they tend to sneak out and have a poke about...

Upyourdaisy - don't worry, that's not attack stance, it still has its palps/pedipalps on the floor. It's just feeling its way around in the prison it's in. IF it was in attack stance, it would be reared up on its back legs like this

This is Herbert the Pervert. He is stuck between the window and flyscreen on the bathroom window. We can't get him out easily so we just leave him. Looking at us as we shower. Hmm
