😱 without a doubt the biggest spider I've seen, when it was on the wall with its legs all spread out it was as big as the cup. I'm dying thinking about where it might have been crawling all night

September seems to be spider time 🕷🕸in our house..always catch about 5 massive bastards..bloody hate them I do....always catch them and set them free in next doors garden..

SaucyJack · 28/07/2017 09:13

Nopey nope.

viques · 28/07/2017 09:13

Went into the kitchen the other night and there was this spider on the floor, not huge legs but big body, and IT RAN AT ME! They are not supposed to do that. Luckily I leapt out of its way with the grace of Zorro , caught it in a glass and put it outside .In the pouring rain. Sweet revenge.

Don't usually mind the skinny legged ones, but this one was clearly in kill mode.

WeAllHaveWings · 28/07/2017 09:13

Tin foil is not going to keep that one in. You need something heavier!

NooNooHead1981 · 28/07/2017 09:13

I don't have a problem with spiders at all and they are great as they eat all the other annoying bugs, but knock me down with a large pointy stick... that is a bit scary. And not something I would try and catch ... Eek!

JungleInTheRumble · 28/07/2017 09:13

It looks pretty dehydrated and unhappy - put it (far far away) outside!

It looks similar to the one that appeared ON MY PILLOW at 2am one morning. I'm still not over that one...just thinking about it makes me feel horrible. Worst night ever.

There are two species of house spider in the UK - normal and giant ones. Looks like you have a nice giant male one there (you can tell by the little leg like things on the front).

BartholinsSister · 28/07/2017 09:13

Imagine how big it's parents must be. Sheesh!

MyRedPepper · 28/07/2017 09:14

Back in the garden where it belongs.

It's big but not that big.

StatueInTheSky · 28/07/2017 09:14

Spiders are getting feistier imo!!

The last monster one we had was noticed because I HEARD it running across the floor while I was on the phone. AND I swear it growled at the dog (A 50kg GSD!) who sensibly retreated to the hall to keep an eye on it.

I put a large pint glass over it and crimped its feet on both sides of the glass, it was furious! I had to have a lie down!!

Bumdishcloths · 28/07/2017 09:15

JFC 😱

Theymisheardme · 28/07/2017 09:15

Put him in the garden so he can rub his willy over any clothes that are going to get darked on

SemiNormal · 28/07/2017 09:16

Fucking hell! Have you not packed your bags yet?!

I don't mind spiders. I was told once that they prefer clean houses so it's a sign that your house is clean - and there is new my excuse for being lax on the housework Grin

EezerGoode · 28/07/2017 09:16

We found a web full of hundreds of baby ones all moving and wriggling..I always thought mummy spider carried babies in a sac on her back...I wonder if they have a mating season...

Alltheusernamesalreadyinuse · 28/07/2017 09:19

Nightmare!!!!!!!!! That would terrify me and I wouldn't go back in the house for weeks!!!!!!! Aaaagggggghhhhh!!! Grin

JungleInTheRumble · 28/07/2017 09:19

Eezer they do I think. Around autumn the males will wander around looking for a mate and that's when they start coming in houses.

EezerGoode · 28/07/2017 09:22

That might explain why I find so many in late September..did anyone see the big huntsman spider in the daily mail on line..now that was big...they couldn't get it of the glass window

cardibach · 28/07/2017 09:26

You all need cats. Never see a spider with cats. They all become little crunchy cat snacks.

CaveMum · 28/07/2017 09:26

You don't want to see the story doing the rounds about the giant Huntsman found in a house in Australia then. Monster!

I could of tell you about the time DH saw a Camel Spider during a tour of duty in Iraq but you won't sleep for weeks! Whatever you do, don't Google "Camel Spiders". The fuckers can jump!

Upyourdaisy · 28/07/2017 09:26

It was in the corner, like it knew I'd have have to be really careful catching it, I keep thinking about where it's been.....

Urgh cardi, thatvr minds me of the time I came downstairs to find a pile of HUGE spider legs on the floor, and a very happy looking cat

bloodymaria · 28/07/2017 09:30

Waaaah! Threads like this need a trigger warning!!

FlyMeToDunoon · 28/07/2017 09:31

Firstly my daughter mentioned a spider she'd seen in my bedroom. I had a look, smallish spider hanging on a thread by corner of bed head, fine. I went to bed and sleep perfectly relaxed. In the morning I got a glass to catch spider which audibly! retreated behind a poster tacked to the wall. I hate that skittering noise!! Once in the glass I had a good look at spider which turned out to be one with a white skull-like mark on its abdomen. Or, as my DD observed like a storm trooper helmet.

Or like a FALSE WIDOW SPIDER! Fack.

Secondly same DD woke me up one night to come and remove a spider from kitchen floor. Massive and the skittering again! put it outside back door and it ran towards us. Eeeek! Cue much squealing and slamming of back door.

I quite like spiders but they are scary sometimes.

MissWilmottsGhost · 28/07/2017 09:31

Don't kill it! Why would you do that?

Just put it outside.

MrsQuim · 28/07/2017 09:35

Just let it go! Seriously there are loads of insects 🐜 n our homes living quite happily. I admit to not liking the big house spiders like that very much but I wouldn't kill it. Put it outside so it can come back in later Grin

BlueTongueSkink · 28/07/2017 09:35

OMFG. I so wish I hadn't opened this and seen that photo!

I don't kill them either, but can't bring myself to get close enough to get them under a glass. I just run away Blush
