To think Grimms Rainbow is the wankiest toy?

60 quid?!?!?!

For ten ish curves of wood painted in each of the rainbow colours. For a small child. To no doubt try to shove up their nose or wedge down the loo.

I do not understand how this item is worth anywhere near 60 quid, and it has got to bw something the parents buy to try and win cred or something?

They are worth it. The cost has hugely shot up in the last year. Supply issues demand etc.
But it's wankel Grin

rainbowduck · 28/07/2017 23:59

I love mine. So much, I bought a second. I play with it as much as D.C. (They also love it)

wheelsortyres · 29/07/2017 01:30

I'm obsessed with them. I have a weird touchy feely OCD type thing and I can't get enough of them. Or these....

They make me feel really really happy and calm. I can see what kids see in them.

NapQueen · 29/07/2017 01:36

Much as I adore all of you this has to be the wankiest thing ive ever read on mn.

I know about Ostheimer and their toys are lovey but we'd already started the holztiger collection by the time I found them and I wanted them all to match. They're a lot sleeker than the holztiger, I love them too

We love ours and were very happy to be given one . It's really open ended and can be used in so many different ways, so it's something that 'grows' with use as children get older & think of different ways to play with it. It's well made, beautiful and is one of the few 'pretty' things she has in her room. So far this week I have seen her using some of the pieces as stacking towers, bridges for duplo people, a row boat, tunnel, race track, toy phone, see-saw ...Agreed it is stupidly expensive and wouldn't have been a priority for us to buy, but overall I would rate it as one of her favourite toys.

SecretFreebirther · 29/07/2017 05:22

We have two Blush I definitely play with it more than the kids do though

christmasunicorn · 29/07/2017 07:49

On the back of this thread I've gone and ordered the mini rainbow 🌈 ah it's only £11.95, I'll save it for Christmas. I'd love the big one but I just don't imagine my boys being interested in it at all. They love their Lego and imaginext plastic tat too much.
I don't get the love for the holtztiger love at all although ds3 does have a collection of T-Lab animals that makes me smile every time he gets them out T-Lab

MumBod · 29/07/2017 08:44

Snap, ChristmasUnicorn!

My kids are grown up now, so mine's for my Inner Child Grin

I love rainbows 🌈

Pumperthepumper · 29/07/2017 09:21

Aw NapQueen really? Was it the sleeker bit?

Pumperthepumper · 29/07/2017 09:26

Wait, I need to defend myself a bit more - holztiger and Ostheimer make wooden animals, it's not like grimms where there's a range of toys, they both make chunky wooden animals. Very similar, expect the Ostheimer ones are a bit nicer. So when I say 'collecting' and 'matching' and 'sleeker' I'm not talking about toolboxes and stacking cups.

Is that better? Or I am still the biggest wanker on mumsnet?

BasketOfDeplorables · 29/07/2017 10:11

Pumper Personally I'm with you just from a scale point of view, I can't stand it when a farm set has the scale all out of whack. Why is this chicken as big as the sheep?!

Hygge · 29/07/2017 10:56

fruitlovingmonkey - thank you.

It's just wonderful. And my cousin has a one-year old, and Christmas is coming.

I could see myself going with vulva themed presents this year.

BasketOfDeplorables · 29/07/2017 11:04

Can you get one of those boob hats to complete the theme, Hygge?

Shemozzle · 29/07/2017 12:20

Those that have ordered the minis! Be warned, I think they are about keyring size?!

frid · 29/07/2017 12:49

Do the holztiger animals stain the furniture like the rainbow? They have some nice dinosaurs

winewolfhowls · 29/07/2017 14:28

How big is the actual small rainbow, not the mini, compared to something I can imagine, rather than the dimensions?

JennyBlueWren · 29/07/2017 14:36

I wouldn't pay that for it but would buy one for a few pounds in a charity shop. Had one when I taught in nursery and they were great for making ball runs and car ramps out of.

I don't understand the price of a lot of toys. I got a huge Noah's ark in a charity shop for £5 and found out that originally it would have been £150!!!

Rainbownerd · 29/07/2017 15:30

Buy all the rainbows!!! 🌈😂

wheelsortyres · 29/07/2017 16:42

Omg the bottom right one has made me itchy and drooly. I NEED to touch it.

Hygge · 29/07/2017 17:26

Basket I have a few relatives who would suit a boob hat perfectly.

I wonder if the Woolly Hugs team could knit a few ready for their Christmas Fundraiser this year? Grin

winewolfhowls · 29/07/2017 19:46

Shit I've gone and bought a sixty quid one. I wasn't even pissed at the time.

MsMommie · 29/07/2017 22:15

We have it.. my kids absolutely love it.
All the plastic wanky shite got abandoned when we were gifted a rainbow... so we bought more Grimms. And they're loved.

MsMommie · 29/07/2017 22:18

I reaaaaaaly want to get one each of the holztiger/Ostheimer animals but every time I put one in my basket I click away... they're very expensive for a little wooden animal
