To think that 4 1/2 hours is too long to be waiting on the roadside for Greenflag while I'm with a toddler??

Dont use Greenflag or their sub contractors Kavenagh they kept me waiting at the roadside with a toddler for nearly four and half hours. It was impossible to complain because the complaints system so bad and then they offered me £100 and closed the case off without a full investigation. Terrible terrible service.

If you want a better service then go to the RSC but you'll pay a heck of a lot more than you pay Green Flag. You get what you pay for.

Gingerandgivingzerofucks · 26/07/2017 21:25

What Felix says. You probably waited that long because they're not one of the massive companies. I'm with the RAC, got a flat on a very hot say with dogs in the car, they were there within 30 minutes.

scottishdiem · 26/07/2017 21:38

There is also a capacity issue. You may well have been prioritised but that still means a wait of the have no local service available. Don't buy prioritisation, buy capacity.

liquidrevolution · 26/07/2017 21:43

Felix I would love to get roadside assistance from the RSC. Imagine the drama, the costumes, the lights! Grin

AA is no better. Left me stranded with 2 yr old for 4.5 hours in rural area last winter so bloody cold. They kept sending vans that couldnt help (we needed a transporter as couldnt be towed, then they wouldnt let DD in as her car seat is isofix only and they dont have isofix in their vans. That was another hours wait for a taxi...)

We've never had a problem with Green Flag.
RAC however, well don't get me started. Hence why we switched to GF.
I'd never go back to RAC. From my bitter experience their ethos is to screw as much money out of the customer as they can. Then when said customer has the audacity to avail themselves of the service they've paid for, RAC will backtrack and demand even more money from you.
I've had nothing but good customer service from GF.

Onetedisbackinbed · 26/07/2017 22:01

Left green flag when they attended my flat tyre without the apparatus to either change it or pump it or check pressure in it. Hmm

Witchend · 26/07/2017 22:03

Green flag were less than 20 minutes when I broke down with a toddler. As with any large organisation they will have their good moments and not so good moments.

I think they're all pretty shit tbh just depends if yo get them on s good or bad day

Twinkletowedelephant · 26/07/2017 22:13

I'm with AA. £36 a month for me and dh I have called them twice once last year needed new battery, They came in 20 minutes took 20 minutes to fix...and another 15 minutes for the kids too thoroughly examine his van have a go on the lights and ask many many questions.

Secondly a few weeks ago... Car lost all stearing there was a crunchy sound.... AA man was with me within 5 minutes, arranged a tow truck to garage, and a courtesy car for me for 3 days ( vital as ds had a much waited for hosp appointment).

Dh with his dodgy car has called them out a few times always arrived quickly, and again the courtesy car was a good send while his was being fixed.

I love the AA would recommend them to everyone.

noblegiraffe · 26/07/2017 22:15

I also love the AA, they've been brilliant whenever I've called them.

They've also got an app with a dynamic map on it which shows you where the van who will be attending you is at that exact moment.

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/07/2017 22:15

Did you tell them you were a lone woman with a child? With Mondial that would have got you priority a hundred years ago when I worked for them.

KinkyAfro · 26/07/2017 22:15

I had a nightmare with the AA, they took a year's membership money from me 10 times...took almost a year to get it refunded. I've been using green flag ever since, had to call thrm out twice and they were with me within the half hour

Thecatsmother17 · 26/07/2017 22:16

To be fair they've been great the two times I've had to use them.

wonkylegs · 26/07/2017 22:24

I've called greenflag out twice in 10yrs and each time they got to me in 30mins & apologised for the wait 😳

The AA however Have been beyond shit for DH and if he wasn't so bloody lazy he'd cancel his membership

ImperialBlether · 26/07/2017 22:30

I'm with Green Flag - it took them 8 minutes to get to me when my cam belt broke. They were on the roundabout at the junction behind me when they got the call.

Migraleve · 26/07/2017 22:37

My cover is through my insurance with direct line, it uses green flag. As soon as you call they send the job to a local recovery garage.

I phoned and had a guy here within 30 mins and that was when I was in the house with no kids! I do think it's pot luck for availability though

EZA15 · 26/07/2017 23:28

Another one here who hates Green Flag. I had the exact same issue in that they left me waiting with a toddler. No apology and not even an offer of compensation like you had. When the engineer came he wouldn't fix it! Went back to AA - should never have left them

stonecircle · 27/07/2017 00:16

We've been with Green Flag for ages. Always been fine.

itstoolateforthisbollox · 27/07/2017 00:18

How much? I pay 16€ a month for 2 people and that is for platinum membership, international rescue etc. And they have always been quick.

PrettyGreyEyes · 27/07/2017 00:45

A really attractive AA mechanic turned up (quickly) when I had a puncture a few years ago. My current car comes with RAC membership otherwise I'd change back to the AA and let one of my tyres down and ring again Blush

user1499169579 · 27/07/2017 00:46

We were with aa when my husband had a mental moment, filled the car with petrol and drive forty miles along motorway before it started stuttering: it was a diesel car. Despite being heavily pregnant, December, and 2am the aa couldn't come out to up lift the car for six hours. So we called green flag. They came within half hour, carried car home and agreed to tow it to our preferred garage in the morning. But because they didn't collect car until lunch time they refunded full cost of both collections without any prompting. Not bad.

Hotheadwheresthecoldbath · 27/07/2017 01:03

I live rurally and have found out that AA and

RAC have minimal coverage so have always had to wait hours for assistance as vans come mainly from another county. Also RAC are very bad at keeping you informed.I now use Greenflag, it's cheaper and they use local garages too so the only time I needed them for homestay someone was there in half an hour.
All of them are a bit hopeless,I had a flat battery after work and when trying to locate me told me that the hospital I worked at didn't exist and for the any landmarks all I could say was well there's a bloody big hospital in front of me!A rural breakdown had me hopelessly explaining that there were no buildings nearby,no land marks ,just sheep and hills only to be told I was lying there must be buildings. That one ended with me saying that they would see a blue car with smoke coming out of it on the Bxxx.

DonkeyOil · 27/07/2017 01:14

I've been with Green Flag for years. They've been fine every time I've called them, with the added benefit of being cheap. On one occasion they were later than the hour they had estimated, and gave me a discount when I renewed. I suppose the service depends on what the local garages they use are like.

worridmum · 27/07/2017 01:52

I dislike greenflag as they are so small that when my younger brother broke down he had to wait 9 hours to be sorted because he was low prority that every single time a women broken down they jumped ro front of que why the hell does he have to pay the same everyone else but is last to be sorted the man that came basically said he was his last callout and 14 people phoned up after he had and were all sorted before him no compensation was often and no discount given being a second class customer that is last seen to before everyone else
