Parking wars - on my own drive !

I know the rules, diagram is attached. 😉

I'm on half days this week and have just got home to find a car in my driveway. As we are a corner house we have two driveways, big enough for one car each. Parking is really tight around here and permit only too. Opposite us is 8 terraced houses with no allocated parking, so quite often they either park in their garages or in the handful or visitor bays opposite my place but in front of theirs. My front drive is VERY clearly my driveway.

Cheeky Fucker Neighbour (CFN) runs a business from home which involves a lot of clients coming and going from her house throughout the day (pet groomer) and he employs two people to help.

I came home today to find a car in my drive which was not DHs. So I park down the side (pink section) of the house on the road where neighbours park their cars. I go and knock on several doors to find out who it belongs too, turns out it's one of the employees who is staying for a little while longer (P/T). "But I'll only be another hour, so I'll move it then." I reply "No, move it now please as I have to unload my car." Person refuses and I end up leaving telling them to move it within 30 minutes.

That was an hour ago and when I knock on the door there is no answer.

My next door neighbour has just told me that this car is on either my front drive or rear drive each morning ! When he questioned them about it, apparently CFN has said it's OK for them to park there and they have cleared it with us. No they bloody haven't!

Thing is this went on last year but after words it sooner stopped but obviously they are doing it again.

I'm sat here glaring out my front window waiting for the fucker to move his car then we will have words. I would block it in, but the road is only wide enough for one car so would block the road.

I'd get over there and tell him if he doesn't shift it now you'll be emptying your rubbish bins on your driveway (and his car) as you need to clean them out haba

TiggyD · 26/07/2017 16:30

I would target her customers. Put a few notes on their cars.

GinaFordCortina · 26/07/2017 16:30

don't know how you managed to stay composed when they refused. I would have blown my top.

Yes and made things awkward when customers appeared

teaandakitkat · 26/07/2017 16:33

What is wrong with some people? Parking there is bad enough but refusing to move when you've been caught out is just awful.

Sorry you're having to deal with this shit op. Hope you get it sorted.

trixymalixy · 26/07/2017 16:35

You really do need to find some way of blocking them on your drive. then when they ask you to move say you're busy and will do so in an hour...

Or "accidentally" drop your glass recycling in front of their car.

AlphaBites · 26/07/2017 16:35

😈

So CFNE (Cheeky Fucker Neighbours Employee) still has NOT moved his car. I sat by the window for ages but then DD wanted to do some stuff and a DVD wasn't going to cut it with it.

Next door (Nice neighbour) told me it was CFN had told him that he had cleared it with me. There is no chance DH has given his permission.

Anyway, no one was answering the door so I was suddenly inspired by loads of roadworks that are going on with bollard fence things. So I have borrowed two and put them in front of the fuckers car with two cones and a sand bag. NDN is loving the drama as well so kept watch whilst I brought the fence things up from a pile just up the road slightly. CFNE will need to remove these before he moves his car. 😡

I'm another who doesn't understand why you gave them half an hour. I'd have lost the plot when they refused. They'd have been told they'd got as long as it took me to find the sledge hammer in the shed because after that it wouldn't be in any condition to drive away. (I wouldn't actually damage it but they don't know that. All they'd see was a wailing banshee swinging it round her head. I might even smash the bin lid on the side they can't see just to get them speeded up.)

Jaxhog · 26/07/2017 16:37

Penguin Bollard. 2 of them - one on each drive.

And a formal solicitors letter informing them of action if trespass isn't stopped immediately.

GinaFordCortina · 26/07/2017 16:39

I really can't understand why it's legal to just drive in to someone's property

"Oooops! I broke a glass right behind your car!! What's that? You'd like to borrow a broom to sweep it up before you go on your way? Certainly....."

Am I sad that I am not going to read anymore of this thread until DD has gone to bed and I can read in peace with a big glass of wine. The CFN's employee omg I can't wait to see the next installement of them moving everything. Well done OP it all looks like seriously hard work no wonder you were gone ages.

IdentifiesAsYoda · 26/07/2017 16:40

That roadwork sculpture is a beauty

somewhereovertherain · 26/07/2017 16:40

I'd also be checking they've the correct planning permission and rates for running a business from home.

Have you called cheeky neighbour yet?

EvansOvalPies · 26/07/2017 16:40

Do you have a pot of Vaseline to hand? Write a note on a piece of paper and stick it to the Vaseline-smeared windscreen or a side window. It will take ages to get off (leave the driver's side free with space to see so he or she can get out of your drive, though, obviously, otherwise you'll never get rid of them).

Or would that count as criminal damage? If it were me, I think I'd risk it. They are parked illegally, after all.

Gingerandgivingzerofucks · 26/07/2017 16:41

Go lean on his door bell. Cheeky twat, I can't believe the front of this bloke! Where's the wife in all this?

Lweji · 26/07/2017 16:41

You could set up a street parking party. Invite all the other neighbours to watch them when the car is finally moved.

Oldbutstillgotit · 26/07/2017 16:42

DH knows I have had a crap day so has suggested we go out for tea. Would it be really rude to read MN in restaurant??

LurkingHusband · 26/07/2017 16:42

Whilst stepping onto your property may be a civil action (trespass) I have a strong feeling that any attempt to move your property on your property is criminal damage.

Criminal damage does not require a quantum of damage (if I recall what I learned recently).
