Parking wars - on my own drive !

I know the rules, diagram is attached. 😉

I'm on half days this week and have just got home to find a car in my driveway. As we are a corner house we have two driveways, big enough for one car each. Parking is really tight around here and permit only too. Opposite us is 8 terraced houses with no allocated parking, so quite often they either park in their garages or in the handful or visitor bays opposite my place but in front of theirs. My front drive is VERY clearly my driveway.

Cheeky Fucker Neighbour (CFN) runs a business from home which involves a lot of clients coming and going from her house throughout the day (pet groomer) and he employs two people to help.

I came home today to find a car in my drive which was not DHs. So I park down the side (pink section) of the house on the road where neighbours park their cars. I go and knock on several doors to find out who it belongs too, turns out it's one of the employees who is staying for a little while longer (P/T). "But I'll only be another hour, so I'll move it then." I reply "No, move it now please as I have to unload my car." Person refuses and I end up leaving telling them to move it within 30 minutes.

That was an hour ago and when I knock on the door there is no answer.

My next door neighbour has just told me that this car is on either my front drive or rear drive each morning ! When he questioned them about it, apparently CFN has said it's OK for them to park there and they have cleared it with us. No they bloody haven't!

Thing is this went on last year but after words it sooner stopped but obviously they are doing it again.

I'm sat here glaring out my front window waiting for the fucker to move his car then we will have words. I would block it in, but the road is only wide enough for one car so would block the road.

Do you think the offender was too intimidated to come out and face OP's wrath?!

Craicvac · 26/07/2017 20:43

I hear that for small business owners, people who book appointments and don't show up are the bane of their existence.... would be a shame if all of mumsnet needed their dog groomed!

BabychamSocialist · 26/07/2017 20:44

No no, what you want are those spikes where you can drive onto the drive, but can't reverse out without damaging the tyres. Then you charge them to drop the spikes so they can get off! Grin

Doesitgoto11 · 26/07/2017 20:46

Let's get perspective people. This is a friggin parking space, not a rape.

This has actually REALLY offended me having been a survivor of rape. However I digress.

I stand by surely this is trespass?? It's not 'just' a parking space it's the OP's private property and they are parked there without permission!!

I'm rather loving some of the creative solutions tho - I do so love parking thread porn [happy sigh]

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 26/07/2017 20:46

Is the car still there OP ?

Doesitgoto11 · 26/07/2017 20:47

Bloody phone the bold hasn't worked for the first statement in my last Confused

fairypuff · 26/07/2017 20:48

Boo to the sensible DH! not placemarking

gingergenius · 26/07/2017 20:48

@Doesitgoto11 I thought the same but trespass is a civil offence not a criminal one, so basically any arsehole can park on your drive, and there's nothing you can do about it unless you sue them!

honeysucklejasmine · 26/07/2017 20:49

The cheek! Saying no then going home?!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/07/2017 20:50

DH knows I have had a crap day so has suggested we go out for tea. Would it be really rude to read MN in restaurant??

Not when it is for therapeutic purposes old

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/07/2017 20:54

Getting yourself so het up over a parking space is bonkers. It's unhealthy

Au contraire 8Neutrogena* - 'tis cathartic!

BabychamSocialist · 26/07/2017 20:55

Another idea is you could stick cheese in the vents of their car. It'll stink for weeks and the bonus is, I don't think they have cheese-tracing capabilities yet so they'd never know it was you! Grin

Doesitgoto11 · 26/07/2017 20:57

I can send you my cats litter tray that needs emptying tonight if that'd help? Grin

MrTrebus · 26/07/2017 20:58

OP come back! Is the car still there?

IgglesGotANewBag · 26/07/2017 20:58

They must have gone by now!

LurpakIstheOnlyButter · 26/07/2017 20:58

I am so angry on your behalf I just read the whole sodding thread!

LazySusan11 · 26/07/2017 20:59

Set off the car alarm then call 101

sprinklesofweirdness · 26/07/2017 21:00

It looks like it's gonna be a long one tonight ladies!

jenm87 · 26/07/2017 21:01

i have actually been here for hours i need an update lol, im loving all the replies though as im thinking thats something i would do! to be fair the car owner could have came and said im really sorry i was told it would be ok to park here but i wont do it again but hes made it worse for himself, now deffo go out with clingfilm and post it notes that say your a dick and completely cover the car, you should video owner coming back for the car so we can all see haha!!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/07/2017 21:01

DH is no fun, he made me take down the bollards.

Blimey!

My DH would have been standing in front of them with a machete . . . Grin

thegoodnameshadgone · 26/07/2017 21:02

Left reading this at five couldn't read it all as there are so many comments but basically

The CFN employee have gone home and left the car on op's drive?!?!? To avoid a confrontation??? Omg no surely not?

Because leaving it overnight will make it ok?

Omg are they going to get a lift to work every time their shift starts or op will be out?

Omg No words

Hidingtonothing · 26/07/2017 21:04

spaday · 26/07/2017 21:04

Dibbles1967 · 26/07/2017 21:06
