Parking wars - on my own drive !

I know the rules, diagram is attached. 😉

I'm on half days this week and have just got home to find a car in my driveway. As we are a corner house we have two driveways, big enough for one car each. Parking is really tight around here and permit only too. Opposite us is 8 terraced houses with no allocated parking, so quite often they either park in their garages or in the handful or visitor bays opposite my place but in front of theirs. My front drive is VERY clearly my driveway.

Cheeky Fucker Neighbour (CFN) runs a business from home which involves a lot of clients coming and going from her house throughout the day (pet groomer) and he employs two people to help.

I came home today to find a car in my drive which was not DHs. So I park down the side (pink section) of the house on the road where neighbours park their cars. I go and knock on several doors to find out who it belongs too, turns out it's one of the employees who is staying for a little while longer (P/T). "But I'll only be another hour, so I'll move it then." I reply "No, move it now please as I have to unload my car." Person refuses and I end up leaving telling them to move it within 30 minutes.

That was an hour ago and when I knock on the door there is no answer.

My next door neighbour has just told me that this car is on either my front drive or rear drive each morning ! When he questioned them about it, apparently CFN has said it's OK for them to park there and they have cleared it with us. No they bloody haven't!

Thing is this went on last year but after words it sooner stopped but obviously they are doing it again.

I'm sat here glaring out my front window waiting for the fucker to move his car then we will have words. I would block it in, but the road is only wide enough for one car so would block the road.

Who has 3 day old pee lying around??

Flamingosarepink · 26/07/2017 20:07

Pop an invoice for parking charges through CFNs letter box.
Report paringvissues with local business to the council too

StaplesCorner · 26/07/2017 20:08

Its not a parking space though is it. Its not a space in a bay. Its her house, part of her front garden.

DerelictWreck · 26/07/2017 20:09

Let your OH sort it out OP as it's taking too big a toll on you

Yes OP, be careful or you might come over all hysterical on account of your having ovaries and all!

Best to lie down and get the smelling salts ready for your nervous disposition!

ItsASunnyDay · 26/07/2017 20:10

Blatant place mark

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 26/07/2017 20:10

I was gobsmacked at the cheek of them refusing to move - and now I need another term to express the uber-gobsmackedness of CFN driving her employee home, so the car has been left on the OP's drive overnight!

Itsnotwhatitseems · 26/07/2017 20:13

shame you cant borrow a large dog to sit in the drive..

Rhubarbtart9 · 26/07/2017 20:15

What a selfish toad

balsamicbarbara · 26/07/2017 20:20

Surprised I've not seen the old birdseed trick mentioned so far. A lot of birdseed in the vicinity of the car early in the morning could lead to some interesting patterns on the vehicle Grin

Invisibility cloak over their car

gingergenius · 26/07/2017 20:23

@Itsnotwhatitseems I totally misread that and thought you'd written 'buy a big dog to shit on it'. 😂

BoffinMum · 26/07/2017 20:23

Flash park seems a good idea. OP can put signage up now and subsequently have a PCN issued to the annoying driver, it would seem to me.

Neverknowing · 26/07/2017 20:24

So surprised they're still there!!
It's more surprising there's nothing you can do. Leave a few bad reviews online, that'll do it Grin

MandateMandy · 26/07/2017 20:24

If CFN wanted space for employees or customers to park he should have bought a house with ample parking. What a cheeky, entitled bawbag!

Reinstate the barrier!

BenjaminLinus · 26/07/2017 20:25

Have you taken photos and put them on your local Facebook 'parked like a twat' pages?

londonrach · 26/07/2017 20:26

Report to council his business

GissASquizz · 26/07/2017 20:27

This would drive me batshit with rage.

Winotino · 26/07/2017 20:29

I once poured milk through DH car windows. We split up briefly (18 months) I found out he lied about working away to take some local idiot girl on a date, I confronted him and he said "nooooo I just can't go back to work tonight because my car seats are wet as I had it valeted" so I went to his house and poured milk on every seat through the slightly open windows....
He didn't realise for a few days until the whole (very nice) car stank of rotten cheese. No amount of shampooing would fix it, the milk well and truly "stunk" in. He had to sell it shortly after...
I don't think he ever got over that one. GrinWink

InfiniteSheldon · 26/07/2017 20:31

I'd have accudentally smashed a window by now whilst putting the bins out

TroelsLovesSquinkies · 26/07/2017 20:32

Winotino Milk, thats genius. Pour it in the vent if the windows are fully closed.

carelessdad · 26/07/2017 20:33

I’m sorry to have to say this, OP, but there have been a lot of wheel thefts in your area recently. As you know, you owe a duty of care to the person who parked in your drive, so I’d recommend that you remove the wheels and rest the car on bricks, whilst storing the removed wheels in your garage to prevent them being appropriated by some criminal.
Of course, one of the criminals might return and tell you the car and wheels are theirs. Do not believe this. They need to provide 2 forms of picture ID, 2 other items with their address on it, a copy of the V5 and anything else you think is useful. Oh, and as permitting someone to drive a vehicle without insurance is a criminal offence, you will need to see a copy of their insurance certificate. Do take a copy (which might have to be next day, if you don’t have a copier at home and have to wait for the shops to open), and then phone the insurance company to attest that the certificate is valid. It would also be quite reasonable to wait for the written confirmation from the insurance company to arrive in the post to you, before releasing the car.

You can’t be too careful these days and I’m sure that the real owner of the car would thank you for being so diligent and not letting the criminals get away with their car.

elevenclips · 26/07/2017 20:34

Definitely report the business to the council - emphasis on employee taking your driveway etc
Although you can't get the car moved now, the council probably will deal with cfn

Itsnotwhatitseems · 26/07/2017 20:37

when they finally collect the car, follow them, overtake at the last minute and park on their drive

1sttime84 · 26/07/2017 20:41

I have no idea how you have stayed so calm.

  1. I would scratch up every panel on their car - late at night when no one can see me.
  2. Accidentally hit a golf ball at it.
  3. Less permanant damage - cling film the whole car. As in go all out and go under the doors and everything.
  4. Stick a fish in the exhaust pipe.
