Parking wars - on my own drive !

I know the rules, diagram is attached. 😉

I'm on half days this week and have just got home to find a car in my driveway. As we are a corner house we have two driveways, big enough for one car each. Parking is really tight around here and permit only too. Opposite us is 8 terraced houses with no allocated parking, so quite often they either park in their garages or in the handful or visitor bays opposite my place but in front of theirs. My front drive is VERY clearly my driveway.

Cheeky Fucker Neighbour (CFN) runs a business from home which involves a lot of clients coming and going from her house throughout the day (pet groomer) and he employs two people to help.

I came home today to find a car in my drive which was not DHs. So I park down the side (pink section) of the house on the road where neighbours park their cars. I go and knock on several doors to find out who it belongs too, turns out it's one of the employees who is staying for a little while longer (P/T). "But I'll only be another hour, so I'll move it then." I reply "No, move it now please as I have to unload my car." Person refuses and I end up leaving telling them to move it within 30 minutes.

That was an hour ago and when I knock on the door there is no answer.

My next door neighbour has just told me that this car is on either my front drive or rear drive each morning ! When he questioned them about it, apparently CFN has said it's OK for them to park there and they have cleared it with us. No they bloody haven't!

Thing is this went on last year but after words it sooner stopped but obviously they are doing it again.

I'm sat here glaring out my front window waiting for the fucker to move his car then we will have words. I would block it in, but the road is only wide enough for one car so would block the road.

Is there an option of calling tow truck to tow it off without damage and getting bill sent to neighbour?

NetballHoop · 26/07/2017 17:24

Does the business have a phone number? It can be very disruptive to receive MANY calls from people all around the country.

Tazerface · 26/07/2017 17:25

Wow. Your neighbour is a complete arsehole.

In what world is it preferably to take the person parked somewhere they've been asked to move from home, leaving there car in the spot they aren't supposed to be in? Is she normally a bit thick?! Confused

strawberrygate · 26/07/2017 17:25

so cfn has taken twat employee home leaving TE's car still on your drive???
Your DH needs to get those things back blocking it.
DO NOT be a wet blanket

Barnes79 · 26/07/2017 17:25

Wait! If the neighbours car is gone, can you park on their drive???? 🤔😜

Lj8893 · 26/07/2017 17:26

barnes the neighbour doesn't have a drive

londonrach · 26/07/2017 17:26

Seems youve been gifted a car. How kind. Report it as abandoned as it is now

Lweji · 26/07/2017 17:26

If they have a business surely they have a phone and email.

And yes, park on their drive. Then properly block cheeky car in.

ShmooBooMoo · 26/07/2017 17:26

Ha ha Ginger Grin

CatchingBabies · 26/07/2017 17:26

I can't believe they refused to move! And that they may have gone home and left it there, so rude! Block it in again, sod DH. I bet they are planning to move it when you're not home tomorrow, don't give them the pleasure!

Barnes79 · 26/07/2017 17:26

Netball. even more annoying if lots of people called to make dog grooming appts and then didn't turn up 😜👹

flapjackfairy · 26/07/2017 17:27

If there is no fuel cap on the car it is considered a fire risk and the council have to tow it away from residential properties....Just saying !

strawberrygate · 26/07/2017 17:27

yes, tell us their business name. we'll all make appointments

DooRight · 26/07/2017 17:27

name of the business, URL and Phone number, MNters will do the rest...

Scaredycat3000 · 26/07/2017 17:27

I explained to the young DC the other day, you try polite, but after a few polites that are totally ineffective the quickest way to stop people like this is to turn the tables back on them. After my sister rang me up drunk in the middle of the night yet again, I repeatedly rang her phone when I got up for my early shift. Suddenly even drunk she remembered not to call me. I might well be ringing the door bell until the car is moved or letting my dc play loudly in their garden, I might even join them!

kittybiscuits · 26/07/2017 17:27

Can anyone recommend me a dog groomer please? Nothing to do with the parking thread obv.

Oldraver · 26/07/2017 17:28

If you have a 4 x 4 I would be tempted to back it right up to CFN front door..so when they open it the car blocks the door way

Tazerface · 26/07/2017 17:28

www.gov.uk/report-abandoned-vehicle

I'd put a note through the door saying to retain neighbourly relations they have till 7pm to move their car. After that, you will have no choice but to report as abandoned and will absolutely follow up every time this happens.

Cheeky cunt.

PurpleDragon76 · 26/07/2017 17:29

Booooooooo to your DH. Why?? Your land do what you like. Would he be so forgiving if he couldn't park after work?

AnnieOH · 26/07/2017 17:30

You cannot clamp a vehicle anymore! Not since 2012.

Freddystarshamster · 26/07/2017 17:31

Would it be more interesting to the police if the car had been abandoned on your drive and you had no idea where it had come from but thought you could see drugs inside?

Brilliant idea lying to the Police Hmm

Yes let's waste police time, they have absolutely nothing else to be doing at all. I can tell you now if I was dispatched to that call one of two things would happen.
A) You'd be reported for Summons for wasting police time
B) I'd look in the car, clearly see there's no drugs then be on my merry way doing fuck all else about it

ImperialBlether · 26/07/2017 17:32

They don't have a drive, though.

Jaxhog · 26/07/2017 17:32

Your best bet is to stick a large notice under their windscreen telling them not to park there again. And the penguin bollards (or your wheelie bin). Most people won't park there if they know you haven't given permission.

Your beef is with the business owner for lying, not the parker. They were told it was ok to park there.

Lweji · 26/07/2017 17:33

But surely a rope could accidentally get entangled around a wheel.

LakieLady · 26/07/2017 17:33

Full points to OP for artistic endeavour - lovely parking diagram and very creative sculpture.

I think I might be inclined to have an unfortunate trip over in the drive, while carrying an open bottle of brake fluid (you need to top up your brake fluid, don't you, and you had to carry it down your drive to your car because a CF had parked in your drive). Takes the paint off right down to the metal. Make sure NDN is watching, so she can testify to your unfortunate accident, which led to brake fluid being splashed on CFNE's car.

This has given me a business idea though: very quick delivery of tonne bags of sand or skips for purpose of revenge on CFs. A big bag of sand is only about £40, worth every penny.
