To think that I don't have to style my hair every day for dp!

toughasnailz · 25/07/2017 19:42

I've come back after work where I wore a cap as had been swimming with my mindees!

Dp as usual when my hair isn't styled non stop complained about it to me since the minute I walked in the door. Now, I do style my hair, but with the young kids, there just wasn't time after swimming and there were more important things to do.

This happens any day of the week and tonight I've just had enough of it and told him that I couldn't be bothered to listen to him any more! I've said that it's ridiculous that I get all his grief on how my hair is and that I can't just not to it any day of the week, even Sundays! Because of him!

I'm usually a very quiet person, but ffs, I'm tired, and I'm trying to cook our meal and leave me alone!!

My aibu is that this is very out of character for me, was I being unreasonable to be so rude to him?

Wtf? Why on earth would he think he can tell you what to do with your hair? I wash my hair. That's about it. No products and hardly ever even blow-dry it, never mind 'style' it. I can't even persuade dh to tell me whether he likes mine long or short if I ask him.

NoFucksImAQueen · 25/07/2017 19:53

In that case YABU....
Unreasonable to call him "d" p in your opening post because he's a cunt

toughasnailz · 25/07/2017 19:54

@Rubyslippers7780 it is short, but I really want it long and am trying to let it grow, it's at the awkward stage between being short and long and between working 12 hour days and trying to run the family home I haven't managed to go for a tidy up around the back!

I usually wear it roughly styled at the front, it's hard to explain it but it's tidy and pretty (I think) when styled!

To whoever said a hair fetish - you're right

honeylulu · 25/07/2017 19:56

If my husband said that to me, his comment would be met with peals of laughter.
I've always been a wash and go kind of girl. Styling? Ain't nobody got time for that!

I hope this isn't real.

Foggymist · 25/07/2017 19:57

And does he style his hair every day, if he has any?

Sallystyle · 25/07/2017 19:57

I would tell him to fuck off.

I have been growing my very short hair out for months and I've had some very dodgy hair periods and dh has done nothing but make me feel beautiful when I've hated my own hair.

You should see the state of my hair after I wash it and I often spend the evening with it like that before I style it the next morning. DH says nothing.

And that is normal. It's what normal non-controlling people do. I am sure he is an arse in many different ways isn't he?

TartanDMs · 25/07/2017 19:59

What a controlling prick. How you do your hair on any occasion is only your business and nobody else's.

QueenArseClangers · 25/07/2017 19:59

Apart from all this hair shite why are your running the house if you work 12 hours a day? Surely it should be 50/50 with your weirdly barnet obsessed husband?

ImperialBlether · 25/07/2017 20:00

Maybe he could make himself useful and cook the dinner then, while you make yourself pretty for him?

toughasnailz · 25/07/2017 20:00

@U2HasTheEdge he is! I usually just ignore ignore ignore, but I'm getting sick of doing that and I was tired and just wanted to relax, so snapped.

Glad to hear you're having fishy times too, makes me feel more normal!

toughasnailz · 25/07/2017 20:01

@U2HasTheEdge my autocorrect hates me! That was supposed to say I'm glad you're having dodgy hair times too

BTW only style my hair due to the thickness, fuzziness and the stupid curls that spring up in awkward places due to the length. I have the thickest hair ever. That shit needs anti frizz on it.

Shoxfordian · 25/07/2017 20:02

He sounds really controlling

Ltb all day

Purplemac · 25/07/2017 20:03

YANBU and your DH really is being an arse.

In the five years I've been with my DH he has never once commented on any aspect of my appearance unless it's a compliment. Some days I don't even brush my hair, others it is perfectly styled. Some days I wear make up and sometimes I just can't be bothered. He has never, ever questioned when I don't bother. I really don't think it's normal behaviour to do so.

GooodMythicalMorning · 25/07/2017 20:04

Just asked dh if he cares how i have my hair and his reply was no, as long as you are happy with it. This is how they should all think.

Slimthistime · 25/07/2017 20:04

He sounds horrible!

toughasnailz · 25/07/2017 20:04

@Purplemac see he's always prodding me and trying to prune me and commenting on my make up, or the fact I didn't reapply it. Grabbing my hair and styling it how he likes, I've put a stop to that recently too after having it done too many times and just told him to fuck off

OP posts:
Sallystyle · 25/07/2017 20:06

No you aren't alone with the growing out bad hair periods.

I am getting there now. Can now see better days ahead Grin

OP, you are worth more than this... the husband, not the hair ;) Thanks

pointythings · 25/07/2017 20:07

I knew he'd be controlling in other ways too, I just knew it. Commenting on makeup too, grabbing your hair - you're really just a Barbie doll to him, a trophy, not a real human being. You do not need this man in your life, he has ishoos.

Storminateapot · 25/07/2017 20:07

Buy him one of those Girl's World heads and tell him to fuck off. I'm trying to imagine what kind of 'style' your hair is such that it not being done is so astonishing and comment-worthy. Have you got one of those extravagant Restoration massive curly 'do's' with a galleon and a swan in the middle of it?
Mine is long and on my head. That's the extent of style I go for. Grin

iwannapuppy · 25/07/2017 20:07

Who has time to style hair? Do people with kids actually do this? My DH is lucky if I find time to shave my legs once a fortnight! Tell him you will happily style your hair daily if he pays for a nanny, cook and cleaner, oh and a live in hairdresser!

toughasnailz · 25/07/2017 20:07

Thanks @U2HasTheEdge really picked me up! Hope our hairs grow out as gracefully as possible 😂

You really need to LTB.

Do you have children?
