My vagina is on fire !! Help

Not literally you understand but more of omg it's beyond ridiculous type pain.
I have just finished a course of antibiotics/painkillers and got what I thought was thrush so brought some canesten and thought that would do it, however it has done nothing and i have the most intense itching/pressure/feeling like I've had intense sex/burning feeling that is going no where!
I have slept with a ice pack in between my legs and have seriously contemplated putting Ice in my vagina at this point.

Any solutions wise mumsnetters ... there are no doctors appointments for 4 days, no walk in clinic nearby and the pharmacist said they weren't sure as they can't examine me ... if I have to last four days like this I may kill someone

I have heard of people freezing little "cigarette" shapes of either yoghurt or coconut oil - can't remember but either should be fine. I think you make them using cling film and rolling up the tubes . Then when they're frozen you can pop them up inside and they're very soothing apparently.

Caveat- I haven't done it myself, so no direct experience

jimisayo · 25/07/2017 13:03

You've just come off anti biotics so it sounds like they've killed off all your natural (good bacteria) defences.

From personal experience, especially when the Canesten treatments didnt even seem to touch it, I'd take acidophilus capsules. I think they come in different strengths. Naturally, I went for the highest strength.

Tips: DO NOT take the acidophilus with a warm / hot drink. Apparently, this kills the good bacteria.

Sugar feeds the harmful bacteria. Also consider sugars in high carb type foods (cakes, donuts, white bread, etc)

I like the recommendations of tampons dipped in natural, live yoghurt. But go to a health shop and get natural tampons - not the mass produced types which are bleached and also leave residual material from the tampons inside you.

Also, get natural material pads. Mass produced popular sanitary ware contains a lot of ingredients that aggravate our bodies.

Shorter term: Ruling out an STD is not a bad idea, if there is any possibility of this.

Longer term, when the burning has subsided, consider vaginal / yoni steaming, which involves natural herbs.

Get well soon!

Go to the nearest pharmacy and buy Diflucan (or the supermarket's own version). You will get one tablet and it should take effect - if it's thrush - within 24 hours.

And then, go to a good health shop and buy some probiotic tablets - if they're good quality, they should be keeping them in the fridge.

I had the same problem as this, every time l had antibiotics from teen years till 30, then a homopath recommended this...

You need to buy a pure accidophillus supplement from a Holland and Barrett, it is the concentrated form of good bacteria that is killed off by antibiotics.

Keep the accidophillus in the fridge, take a capsule with a gulp of MILK three times a day, cut out ALL sugar for a week...l mean ALL.... it will start to work in 24 hours, also avoid alcohol for a few days.

After a week drop down to 2 capsules a day and keep up till the end of the supply.

If you are going to be taking antibiotics in the future start the accidophillus straight away 3 times daily.

It does work and unlike Canesten tackles the source off the problem.

Get some quickly...good luck

Live yogurt will help in the short term, but get yourself to a good herbalist tomorrow for a really, really good probiotic. They also gave me tea tree pessaries ('There's no bloody way I'm putting tea tree up there' may have been my response to the suggestion) but omg they sorted it right out.

Keep eating the live yogurt (obvs a fresh helping) for a week or so and also get some prebiotics in your diet - garlic, onion, leeks, asparagus.

NOTE: these were specially formulated tea tree pessaries, don't go swabbing the full strength stuff up your foof.

ItsTimeForDuggee · 25/07/2017 13:15

Can you not go to the nearest gum clinic op they generally have drop ins or you might be able to get a an earlier appointment than at the doctors.

WomblingThree · 25/07/2017 13:15

You may have overdone it on the creams if you have used Germolene, Sudocrem and Vagisil as well, and given yourself a chemical burn.

You really need to see a doctor, or at least your practice nurse, before you do yourself any more damage.

christmashope · 25/07/2017 13:18

After taking antibiotics I need to take the following
1 x oral tablet canisten
1 x suppository canisten
1 x cream canisten
Use them all at the same time if not it doesn't go away!

babybubblescomingsoon · 25/07/2017 13:19

Holy hell yes yes yes. I cannot think of a more infuriating few days than the week I had thrush. I thought I'd never sleep or relax again! Personally found yoghurt did nothing for but vagisil and the canesten oral tablet did the trick. Stay strong op. FlowersGinWine

I had similar and the thing that brought me most relief, almost instant, was tiny drops of tea tree oil on a tampon and inserted. Quite cooling, I found. Google it to see if it might help you?
After a couple days of this it went away.

DJBaggySmalls · 25/07/2017 13:33

Stop putting things in your already inflamed vagina, wash with mild hand wash and call 111.
You may be having an allergic reaction. Adding more cream on top wont help.

BIWI · 25/07/2017 13:35

No! Don't use anything other than water to wash with!

Branleuse · 25/07/2017 13:38

i found the canesten internal cream good especially if you take a flucanazole tablet at the same time. The internal cream doesnt work immediately but it should work overnight. A couple of doses of it a few days apart might be needed. Also putting some teatree oil in the bath helps

Maverick66 · 25/07/2017 13:40

Take an anti histamine will soothe the itch

Miserylovescompany2 · 25/07/2017 14:13

OP, I'd make an urgent GP appointment - this is day FOUR! It might not be thrush?

An internal swab needs to happen.

Iamembarrassed · 25/07/2017 14:13

Is this the right yoghurt ? It needs to be because I told a random busy body it was going in my vagina and I can never go back to Tesco again ! Fuck my life seriously

Miserylovescompany2 · 25/07/2017 14:18

I'd ask to speak with a GP - let them decide whether they'd like to see you today.

Personally, I wouldn't put anything else on or up your foof - it will affect the swab result.

VestalVirgin · 25/07/2017 14:19

That seems to be the right kind of yoghurt, yup. Insofar as any yoghurt is a good idea for that sort of thing.
(Yonighurt made with a healthy woman's vaginal bacteria would be better, but I think that never made it to the supermarkets, I wonder why. Wink)

But next time, do get something from the pharmacy to replace the bacteria that are supposed to be in the vagina, before you have symptoms.

stayathomegardener · 25/07/2017 14:32

Needs to say Bio yogurt with live cultures.

kali110 · 25/07/2017 15:22

GYNODAKTARIN INTERNAL CREAM.
This cream is a god send op. One
Or 2 nights and its gone.

IWouldLikeToSeeTheseMangoes · 25/07/2017 15:26

Poor you OP Sad Nothing much to add other than to give you a potential giggle and distract from the discomfort. As I was reading this thread and thinking "owch" in sympathy, Kings of Leon 'Sex on Fire' came on the radio. Hope some of the more practical remedies help Flowers

IWouldLikeToSeeTheseMangoes · 25/07/2017 15:29

Ps - possibly anti-histamines/anti-inflammatories could help? Disclaimer am not a doctor but just a thought.

imamouseduh · 25/07/2017 15:31

All the people advocating taking an oral probiotic are not helping in this case. This is seemingly a one-off case of thrush, and the bacteria in OP's gut is not going to affect the bacteria in her vagina. Oral probiotics are a good idea if you suffer from candidia, but they aren't going to help here.
God speed, OP. I've been there - it's hell. If you can't see a Dr for a few days I would start using the vaginal canestan pessary today and again tomorrow if there is no relief when you wake up.

Iamembarrassed · 25/07/2017 16:06
